It has nothing to do with the game-well not much anyway. The only time I'm really excited about a Superbowl is when the Seahawks are in it, and otherwise I just pick a team and cheer for them.
There is a chain of pizza restaurants in the Tacoma area (far from me since I live up north near Everett) that my husband and I liked to go to. I joined their "Fire Club" which is basically a frequent guest club and I don't think you get points or anything but if you are a member and you go to one of their restaurants on Superbowl Sunday they will give you free pizza slices (all you can eat) for the duration of the game. Only cheese or pepperoni but we started making it a tradition. The first game I remember watching there was way back when the 49rs were playing The Ravens and the Ravens won. I remember being mad b/c I wouldn't normally cheer for the rival of the Seahawks, but I did since the 49rs are on the West Coast!
Anyway, we started going every year and I really looked foreword to it. My favorite year was of course 2014 when the Seahawks won 43-8 against the Denver Broncos. We got there really early that year to get a good seat and I even took off work the next day and we stayed in a hotel nearby.
In 2019, I was very upset b/c I didn't have anyone to go with me since my husband had passed away the month before. I didn't really care about the game. I just wanted things to be the same as they had always been before he passed away. But that February we had a massive snowstorm and honestly had that not happened, I would have driven down there myself.
This year I couldn't go either b/c again I didn't have anyone to go with but I was moving into my condo and didn't even have TV to watch the game.
My brother just moved up here so I'm hoping that next year he'll go with me. Hey, who could resist free pizza, right?
