This is probably my favorite episode of the color era. I had not seen it in over 30 years when it aired today.
I was surprised to discover Jamie (Klinger) Farr played one of the gypsies, I hadn't noticed that before. The actor that played the other male gypsy, Vito Scotti, it's amazing how many programs I've seen him guest on.

Vito Scotti? Never heard of him.
I remember him most clearly from his "Dr Boris" character on Gilligan's island, but never really realized he was the japanese soldier and sailor until just today.
I also recall his bit on the Monkees
He seemed to play evil roles where he was more goofy than hostile, very well.
Here's a photo of Jamie Farr & Vito Scotti on The Andy Griffith Show. Jamie was also a delivery man on The Dick Van Dyke Show and Vito Scotti was a policeman on The Flying Nun. They really got around in the 1960's.

I love Vito, what a talented actor. Not only could he play it straight like in Columbo but those great accents, from ‘over the top’ Japanese guy in Gilligan’s Island to his portrayal of Alphonso in The Rifleman as a Mexican bandit (Waste). As a kid he scared me with those teeth. Also played a devoted Japanese servant in Rifleman.
One of the most recognizable character actors of all time in TV.

He also painted the interior of the Petrie's house on TDVDS. Do you think I like him?

One of the most versatile character actors of all time. No wonder he received so much work. Many character actors are stuck to a specific role, Charles Lane comes to mind.
