View Full Version : So Mel goes to Texas to visit Flo at the Yellow Rose and
TVFactFan 04-19-2020, 06:26 PM never mentions Alice or Vera. Also Flo never asks how Alice and Vera are doing:lol: It also wasn't quite clear how Mel made his way to Texas. Flo mentioned he was on vacation and went to the Madri Gras in New Orleans but that 10 hours away from Texas in a car so how the hell did he get there??
weak Crossover that was attempted to help save the show and it was too late

Houston would be on route between New Orleans and Phoenix , so it is possible Mel could have stopped ! But what is strange is that Mel would take such a long road trip by himself and want to be at the Mardi Grad alone without a friend/ travel companion ?

Yeah , but Atlantic city isn't that far from Philly ! ;) You wouldn't travel 3 states over on a road trip alone ! :D And they are big states, going from Arizona through New Mexico , Texas and into Louisiana would take a long while, it would he lonely ! :(

I used to go to Atlantic city when I was a little girl back in Philly with my Grandmom ! She belonged to a senior citizen ladies club and they would sometimes charter a bus trip to Atlantic city in the summer just for the day , we didn't stay over night, and the old ladies could bring a grandchild or two ! It was fun! :) I'm showing my age, this was before Atlantic city had the gambling casinos! It was just the boardwalk and the beach back than ! :)
Out here in LA, Las Vegas is like Philly to Atlantic city! By airplane , it's only a 1 hour flight from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and really cheap ! ;) Lots of people do that trip by themselves ! ;)

I thought Mel guest appearance was in the 1st season not toward the end of the 2nd:lol:

It was episode 17 of season 2, there were 29 episodes in the series this was the 23rd overall.
There must have been some real animosity between Lavin and Holliday, there were no crossover episodes, and this was the only episode where a character from Alice appears in this series. Further it was episode 17 which aired well after the February sweeps, long after it might have helped the series (the show would be pulled a month later with the final 2 episodes burned off in late June, long after the TV season had concluded).
The lack of details related to this episode suggests the writers were mailing it in. Who would drive over 1,500 miles from Phoenix to New Orleans by themselves at that stage of life.
