View Full Version : Marthon on Antenna TV today
Schmoopie 04-18-2020, 02:23 PM Just like they showed "Head of the Class" last Saturday, today they are showing a marathon of "It's a Living". I remember watching this show when it was in Prime Time but I never could really get into it. However, it's nice to see it again since it's been forever since I last saw it. Unfortunately, as you probably guessed, they aren't showing them in order and are skipping some eps.
Bonniegirl 04-18-2020, 08:33 PM I am really enjoying this marathon! ;) Didn't get to see it all cause I worked earlier , but I been watching since I got home ! I love this show! It's great, really funny!:):D
TV Guy 04-19-2020, 06:09 AM I watched a number of episodes, and it really lost something when Ann Jillian left. I like they they tried to diversify the previously all-white cast (LA is a racially diverse city!) withSheryl Lee Ralph, but Ginger wasn’t as funny as Cassie. It reminded me a little of “Alice” after Flo left - both shows lost their comic center.
I think the best season is the third. I liked Amy better than Maggie as the ditzy fourth waitress, and Howard was the best cook. Also, Sonny cut that huge ‘fro, and they weren’t wearing the skimpy costumes anymore, so those episodes look less dated. And I liked that they returned to the original format for the intro, with the waitresses outside of the hotel and going up the elevator (the season 2 opening looks cheap by comparison).
Kasey 04-19-2020, 09:33 AM I agree that the show really lost something when Ann Jillian left. No offense to Sheryl Lee Ralph fans, but she just didn't have that "star quality" the show needed to give it some zing. Ann had it without even trying. Ralph is the reason the later seasons are mediocre IMO. An actress with real personality, like Jackee Harry, would have really made it a lot better.
Season 1 is still my favorite because it was the best-written. Season 2 wasn't as good because they watered-down the Cassie character, and the scripts weren't as funny as they could have been. Still, I am a huge Louise Lasser fan, so personally I do like that season better than 3. Not a big Amy fan here.
I always wondered if Louise had vertigo or something and that's why they never re-shot the opening credits outside and in the elevator, because perhaps she refused to do it (rumour has it she could be difficult).
OH Nuts! 04-19-2020, 12:15 PM It’s A Living is a nice show but had a lot to take care of yesterday, so unfortunately had to miss it. Will try to watch a few WINGS shows today, although an still very busy. But since I have the entire series at home, not gonna sweat it.
Schmoopie 04-19-2020, 04:30 PM I watched a few eps till I got sick of it and changed the station. I just don't think it's that funny of a show. I rarely laughed during the eps. Probably why I never really watched it all that often.

Wow! I thought it was really funny ! ;):D

The few eps.of "It's a living " I had seen prior to this marathon were the older ones with Cassie , liked her she was a great character on the show !:) But yesterday I was working while they were showing those , so I tuned in after the Ann Jillian / Louise Lasser eps ! I still thought the show was great , I liked the addition of Ginger and Amy !! And my two favorite characters are the Piano man and Nancy the manager anyway , so older or newer eps. , they are in both! ;)
Sheryl Lee Ralph is gorgeous and I think she was really good and funny in this role !! ;)
