I've been reading this pamplet that was included with my state test scores and a good proportion is based on the thinking that you either succeed at Math and Science or English and History.

1) Do you guys agree with this?

2) Which are you better at---Math and Science or English and History?




We debated this in class once and everyone pretty much agreed with it and followed the pattern. However, I don't think I follow that particular pattern. According to my state test scores I'm better at English and Math. I don't know though, I thought it was kinda interesting...

I'm good at English and History, not bad at Math but science was always one of my poor subjects. The only part of science I was ever really interested in was geology.

That is interesting. I'm better at Biology and English. I suck at Math. My best classes in school are Drama and Biology, though, which is strange because I don't see how those two classes could possible go together, since you didn't mention drama or any art classes that were in the pamphlet. I guess I don't follow the pattern, either.:p :crazy: :happyface

Hm, I disagree with that theory just based on my own experience. This topic even came up one time in class. I was asking my teacher a question about a new poetry assignment. She was saying how she thinks I have a more analytical mind (math and science). Then she looked down at the poem I had written and said "Except that poem proves that theory wrong." (or something along those lines) So I think some people can be good in both subject groups. *shrugs* :D

I hate maths. I'm so bad at it - I failed my Higher Maths exam - so it's a mystery to me how I ever got a job working for an Accountant! :crazy:
Geography, English, Secretarial Studies, Art and Philosophy were my best subjects. My favourites were Geography and Philosophy.
You have to be pretty intelligent to succeed in any school subject but it seems to me that people think you're smart if you're good at math, whereas they think you're just creative if you're good at English. If you get a high score in Math people are more impressed than if you get a high score in English. It's all to do with people's perception of what skills are required in each subject.

I disagree.. my best classes are math and English. Science and history don't come too hard for me either but I have to study more in those classes.

I disagree. English and math are my best subjects. I'm good at science also, but I suck at history 'cause I hate it so.

I don't really follow that pattern. I am very good at all four subjects. I am good at math but it is my hardest subject.

I do well in all four subjects. I adore math; it's my favorite subject. I love English, too. History, I could do without. I'm not too keen on it, but for the past two years it's been my easiest class (Simply because I got the easier teachers). As for science... I find it interesting. Biology is one of my better subjects but I don't enjoy the actual class. The subject itself was okay but the actual stuff we did in class wasn't. I really love physical science, and I do well in it.

I guess I have a more analytical mind. On proficiency tests my scores are always highest in math and history, then reading and science. (With science, though, I find that I have never even learned the stuff on the tests, which is really unfair.

English was always my best subject, and it was my favorite. I was pretty good at history, too. I did OK in science (except for Chemistry). Now, math was a totally different story. I sucked at it. I hate, hate, hate math. :p

My favorite/best subjects are English & History so that goes along with that theory. Iv'e known a lot of people who are best in Math & Science, but I haven't met that many people who are best in both English and History...

I have always been good at English. I love to read and write stories, so maybe that explains why I do so good in that subject. I'm okay in Math. If it doesn't get to hard and if I have a calculator, I'll be alright. Science and Social Studies are my weak subjects. I do okay in them if I study a lot, but they really are the worst subjects.

I think when I had to do the Grad test my Junior year, I think my highest scores came from English and Math. I was really worried about the Science and Social Studies parts. You ever get the feeling when you are about to take a big test and you're really scared to death that you're going to fail, and then when you get the exam in your hands you feel like barfing because you don't know any of the answers? I got that feeling when I took the Science and SS parts of that grad test. It's still a mystery to me how I passed....

I disagree with that. Even though they paired them up with what is the closes to each other, that may not have that affect on everybody. I would be the best at math and english.

English is by far my best subject. I've always enjoyed a good discussion in class, or pumping out a good essay or article. Journalism intrests me the most.

People think I'm crazy, but I LOVE History. I actually like it more than English. That's because all you have to do is sit back and listen. I mean, as long as you have a good teacher who can engage a student into what they're saying, you're set. It feels great to know something that others don't.

Science was always iffy for me. Biology was interesting, but I wouldn't say it's amazing or anything.

Math. My doom. My lowest of all low points.

My best subjects are History and Science. Math is my worst subject. Math is very very evil. I guess I'm good at english too but its kind of boring to me. Even though I like to write and stuff which is kind of weird. Erm...
