A 1977 NMMC at Disney video. Julie Pie is quite prominent in the bits I see. Perhaps not surprising since this is from her website.

Julie Pie seemed to have a major role in the NMMC from the clips I've seen while Lisa was Nancy Oed on the show.

Oh, dang. They sang "River Country". Kinda funny how thinly-veiled these advertisements for Disney parks these 1970s shows were. I wonder how many people watch these videos on YouTube, and then think they can actually visit River Country, which was closed in 2002, and was demolished in 2018?

Haha I remember visiting it in 1999! I'd still look for it whenever I took the boat that way to see it rotting. :(

Did you? Yeah, even now, when I go to Disney World, I visit the glassblower's shop, which was formerly my office, and the former Toontown, where I worked consistently for a while. Floating past the ruins of River Country sounds like a very sobering experience: part happy memory, part sadness. Or walking past where Maelstrom was, or... I haven't been to DW since 2014-ish, but I know I'll be so disoriented when I get to the area that was the Streets of America.

Well Maelstrom is now a Frozen ride, personally I thought Maelstrom was embarrassingly outdated. Streets of America is mostly gone now with Star Wars land in it's place, only a few facades toward the entrance remain.

Oh, not me. I loved Maelstrom, as one of the flume rides (and one of the only actual rides in World Showcase).

Yeah, I will miss those Streets, having been here a lot, and working there fairly often.

I did enjoy it, dont get me wrong, but it needed an update badly. The film at the end was very clearly made in 1988 with old desktop computers and such. They're finally adding a third ride in France, which would be opening this month had they not been forced to close.

Yeah, even now, when I go to Disney World

Only, you don't go to Disney World "now" (or I assume much anywhere else, for that matter!)

And I too adored Maelstrom! Those trolls! I loved it every time I saw them on the looped Disney parks TV channel in our Caribbean Beach Resort hotel room, lol.

Oh, no doubt. I never understood why Disney left in old technology elements on very popular rides, when it couldn't have been that difficult to swap them out with something more modern. Look how long it took them to upgrade the technology portions of SpaceShip Earth! Would it have killed them to change the computers once every ten years?

Yeah, the Ratatouille ride looked like fun. I know they are making plans for HUGE changes at Epcot, with the division into four lands: World Showcase, World Celebration, World Nature, and World Discovery. Even though I have happy memories of Epcot, I can see why they did it: Epcot only ever had two themed areas. And while I never wanted Magic Kingdom or Disney-MGM (which is what I'll forever call it) to change, I always thought Epcot needed some serious revamping in many areas. Some areas just felt like a concrete jungle. Spacious, but concrete.

My boss was Imagineer Eric Goodman (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AO0bJKOODQw), who had many really cool ideas that were integrated into the parks.
