I'm trying to access the website, but I get this message instead.

Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.

We can’t connect to the server at www.ioffer.com.

If that address is correct, here are three other things you can try:

Try again later.
Check your network connection.
If you are connected but behind a firewall, check that Firefox has permission to access the Web.

Does anyone know what happened to the site?

It has shut down.

An attempt to revamp and relaunch the service minus counterfeit goods and bootleg media failed, plus no point-of-sale services wanted to deal with them, apparently, due to the free-for-all nature of the items sold.

There may have been legal issues from major media and others, as well.

Its a real bummer that it shut down, the first time it shut down because people were selling things like unofficial laptop batteries, and i'm sure the fashion industry wasn't happy that clothes were selling on there for considerably less then they were at department stores.

Fortunately i'm a member of torrent site TV Vault now so I don't really need Ioffer anymore but I will still miss it.

I got the whole series of Golden Girls off that site for under $20 bucks from someone who burned all the seasons onto blank dvd's, and they all play beautifully. Sad to hear it shut down.

Yeah i've still got several sets from there that I haven't even gotten around to watching yet. The Hope and Faith set I got was really good.

I'm sure they were breaking tons of copyright laws but it served a good purpose for people who can't afford to pay $100 bucks for complete series sets. I should've known it was only a matter of time before it would get shut down and had stocked up on other TV series.

Yeah there's a few sets I wish i'd bought before it got shut down.

I was able to get the complete classic series of Doctor Who and some Unsolved Mysteries episode sets.

What is the link to TV Vault?

And can someone send me an invite to that site please?

What is the link to TV Vault?Unfortunately it's one of those "invite only" torrent sites(and alas I am not yet at a high enough user level to the point where i'm allowed to give out invites yet) I was lucky enough to find someone who was willing to invite me on that site while looking for episodes of Biker Mice from Mars of all things.

Okay. Thanks. I am wondering if they have any Jackie Gleason Show episodes.

If you ever get into a private tracker, better have some really rare stuff and get ready to seed/upload at about a 10:1 ratio to appease the masses, otherwise you get the boot.

TV Vault is pretty reasonable, they tell you exactly what ratio you need to maintain and i'm doing pretty good.

Now i'm getting a message from Ioffer asking to submit your email if you want updates and they are letting sellers login, looks the site is going to attempt to relaunch yet again. Hopefully this time they realize they can't stop people from selling DVD-Rs, you don't just let people do that for over a decade and then abruptly try to shut it down without getting backlash.

Do you know if TV Vault has episodes of the little-known 60s sitcom "The Farmer's Daughter." It's not rare but not easy to find.
Thanks

I have Farmers Daughter episodes; sell.com has not working for several months now; at one point you could still respond to sellers; but you couldn’t renew or post any ads and now they are completely off the web; yet they renewed their security certificate about a month ago

That’s interesting, but I wonder why they are completely off the web.

Maybe they are redoing their site? You can only speculate until the truth finally comes out. Maybe they got caught up in fake hoods like ioffer did

Here are some negative reviews of sell.com:

I'm really not surprised at all that the site is down.

I dunno if Sell.com had an automatic payment option for sellers to keep their listings up, but manual payments was disabled several months ago. And now the site appears to be officially dead, according to the last seller I ordered from.

I suppose it's possible that Sell.com might re-open (like ioffer did temporarily), but I don't think this seller would lie about it being closed - maybe he got an official notification.

Btw, you can check if a website is actually down versus a bad connection on your end by using this site:

Sell.com stopped renewing my ads at the end of August but stayed online until the middle of October until it went completely down, no one really knows the reason why

I wonder if Sell.com went completely down because of the iOffer situation.

I think when ioffer went down and all the sellers jumped over to sell.com, it was the beginning of the end. When I first started on sell.com there was nobody selling on it compared to ioffer; ioffer goes down and sell.com got flooded with to many dealers selling to many shows
