I really enjoyed the episodes with Bert Convy (who played Richard Lawrence). It looked like he and Shirley had a good thing going.

I don't know why they couldn't have had Bert back more often, playing Shirley's boyfriend (who was probably out of town a lot). Bert didn't start doing Tattletales until early 1974 and was probably available.

Like a lot of other sitcoms, they introduce a character than one of the regulars is crazy about - then you never see them again :(

You’re right - they did have good chemistry. Oh well, they probably didn’t want to spring for a crushed velvet suit for Bert (who actually was a singer, too).
