April Fool's Day is when people commit or perpetrate practical jokes and hoaxes. But sometimes there can be real news on that day that have been mistaken for hoaxes, like the death of Marvin Gaye (in 1984) and the announcement of Guiding Light being cancelled (in 2009). I am always careful about falling for April Fool's jokes/pranks, and avoid "celebrating" his "holiday".

April Fool's Day is actually banned in China, because it's considered to be "inconsistent with that country's cultural tradition and socialist core values". And this year, people may not feel like "celebrating" April Fool's Day because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

I'm asking this to SitcomsOnline members right now: Have you ever been angered, saddened, or otherwise offended by an April Fool's joke/prank/hoax?

I've been tricked by a few but now I know just to take everything said or done on April Fool's Day with a grain of salt.

When was The Guiding Light cancelled? It had to be near then as The Talk and Wayne Brady's Let's Make a Deal have been around for a little over a decade now.

I really have never been a victim of a terrible April fools joke! Except many years ago, a coworker at a call center I worked for and I became good friends, she was so much fun to work with, we worked the later shift, so we were the only two on duty for the last couple of hours of the work day, that can get pretty darn boring, being that it was also the slowest time of the day, calls just trickling in , and before internet, not much to do in your down time ! So we kept each other company and it was fun !:) Anyway , April 1 in the morning she calls and says she just quit,:( she said she called the office and told them she wasn't coming back and she thought she'd call me to tell me personally and she would explain more to me later as to why she was quitting!

Well to make a long story short, me not even thinking about that it was April fools was sad that she quit, anyway I went into work as usual and I'm just getting settled at my desk and in she walks ! "APRIL FOOLS, I DIDN'T really quit "! I was so happy it was only a prank and she didn't really quit !:)
