I bet this has been discussed but it’s new to me. I’ve been watching and enjoying this show on STARZ. The apartment layout doesn’t jive with the outside hallway.

I hadn't thought about that before, but now that you mention it I think I see your point. The inside of the apartment gives the impression that Mr. Bentley's apartment is a lot further away than the hallway would indicate.

Oh. Have either of you ever lived in an apt building? There is a lot more to each floor than just each apartment. There are stairs, storage, a garbage chute, etc.

I have.

I never have. DJM77 gets the nature of my inquiry. The hallway in the apartment leads to at least three bedrooms. However, the outside hallway suggests Mr. Bentley’s apartment is not far enough away to allow that much space.

I lived in one when I was an infant for the first year of my life.

EXACTLY!

But it was just a TV studio not a real apartment. I guess they figured the audience knew this was a TV show and not real life.

If it was a real apartment building of that size you'd have to walk at least 15+ feet from the Jefferson's front door to Bentley's front door not 5 feet like in the show!

But we did see the inside of Bentley's apartment at least once or twice. We never got a grand tour but never got a grand tour of the Jefferson's apartment either!

and the 3rd bedroom we never saw lol

We never even saw the 2nd bedroom which was Lionel's room! We ONLY saw the OUTSIDE door of Lionel's room but never the interior. We ONLY saw the inside of the master bedroom and that was IT over 11 seasons!

Mother Jefferson slept in the guest bedroom but we never saw that either!

Are you sure?? Maybe they cut that scene out when they air the edited version on TV because I've seen every Jeffersons episode MULTIPLE times & never seen the inside of Lionel's room!

Now I think I recall that.

But that might as well have been in a closet or prison cell because we see no furniture or windows in the room right?

So that doesn't really count as showing his full room...LOL.

Look at the Jeffersons' master bedroom. We saw that entire room many times!

This is the inside of Lioinel's room that was only seen one time. It was never shown when the 1st Lionel was on the show

But that's only part of the room. One side and the center of the room. We saw the ENTIRE master bedroom many times. But we do see more furniture in Lionel's room that I thought.

It's amazing the original Lionel was never seen in his room. The ONLY reason the 2nd Lionel was in his room was because him being sick was part of the storyline!

It really wasnt no need to see the inside of his room since he was a minor character

The Jeffersons living in Apartment 12D, and their across-the-hall neighbor, Harry Bentley, living in Apartment 12E, indicate that both of those apartments were on the 12th floor, out of 36, of 185 East 85th Street. Without being sure how the 12th floor was decided on by the writers/producers of The Jeffersons, should the Jeffersons have lived on a higher floor, like 24 or something?

The opening theme lyrics and pic of the building made it seem like they were defintely above 12 floors lol
