View Full Version : Going back to see what REALLY happened
EighthStreet 03-31-2020, 09:13 PM Let's say you're given the opportunity to go back in time and witness any case that was ever featured on Unsolved Mysteries as it actually happened. You can watch it happen from as many angles and vantage points as you'd like, but you can never alter what happens.
What case would you go back and see and why?
ghosthouse 03-31-2020, 10:49 PM This is a touchy question IMO...but I'll answer.
I don't have any desire to watch what happened in any form...but if I had to pick, I would want to be in the Ramsey house and see who comes walking back up the steps.
freakbook 04-01-2020, 12:20 AM Aileen Conway
Fletch 04-01-2020, 02:31 AM Oh man... good question.
Don Henry and Kevin Imes comes to mind.
EighthStreet 04-01-2020, 10:05 AM After coming up with the question I still can't settle on an answer, but I'd really want to be at Roswell Army Airfield in 1947.
Killarney Rose 04-01-2020, 10:39 AM This is a touchy question IMO...but I'll answer.

This!
GyorkLady 04-01-2020, 01:21 PM That’s a toughie. It’s a tie between being in that subdivision when Katherine Korzilius was killed, Chaim Weiss’ dorm room, or being on the train to find out where the lady went with Laurence Harding, Jr.
justins5256 04-01-2020, 01:42 PM This is a really good, yet tough, question.
UM wise, I’m torn between three possibilities.
Aeileen Conway’s last morning
Tim McClure’s wedding night
The Wackers’ stakeout
Non-UM - probably Dealey Plaza in Dallas on 11/22/63.
TheCars1986 04-01-2020, 02:13 PM Tim McClure, Blair Adams, and Tommy Zeigler
MegtheEgg86 04-01-2020, 02:19 PM August 23, 1987 around 1 AM at those Union Pacific tracks behind Don Henry's house.

Oh yeah, forgot about the Walker harassment. That’s definitely on my list as well.
omegadoom 04-01-2020, 02:49 PM Dale Kerstetter.
Chichester Crowe 04-01-2020, 02:51 PM Dale Kerstetter.
You beat me by a minute, lol.
Chichester Crowe 04-01-2020, 03:01 PM The disappearance of Dale Kerstetter - 11PM on Saturday, September 12, 1987 in Bradford, Pennsylvania.
I feel that Dale is dead. It would be nice to be able to locate his remains.
The murders of Don Henry & Kevin Ives - Shortly after midnight on August 23, 1987 in Bryant, Arkansas.
The man in fatigues who fired at police has never been questioned. Who was he?
WishfulDreamer 04-01-2020, 03:10 PM It's so tough to pick just one. But I would probably go with what really happened to Amy Billig after she left her house.

He probably doesn’t “exist”, just like that green tarp that the train engineer saw covering the boys.
MegtheEgg86 04-01-2020, 07:54 PM I'd really like to know what actually happened the night Dale Kerstetter disappeared, too.
MegtheEgg86 04-01-2020, 08:10 PM Ok, so I can't pick just one.
David Stone, from the day he lost it on that guy at the party all through the desert. I know what the end result was. I just want to know how he ended up the way he eventually did.
Chichester Crowe 04-01-2020, 08:27 PM Ok, so I can't pick just one.

I just recently watched this one, and I think he was probably on Psilocybin mushrooms.
-Visionquests were mentioned.
-His behavior was odd/eratic.
-"Yous buys your tea and takes your chances Halloween"
I interpret this as: he bought some mushrooms, made some tea, and then went for a "visionquest". He forgot to bring along a shaman/teacher/babysitter and died of exposure. This happens fairly rarely, but it does happen.
Chichester Crowe 04-01-2020, 08:34 PM He probably doesn’t “exist”, just like that green tarp that the train engineer saw covering the boys.
Well, you may be right about subsequent appearances, but the man in fatigues DID fire on officer Danny Allen a week before the murders. Whether or not people witnessed him walking 200 yards away from the crime scene on the night of the murders may or may not be speculation and hearsay.
Corkys-Place 04-02-2020, 05:44 AM Ok, so while I have zero interest in seeing 1, probably 2 people murdered I want to know what the hell happened to Audrey Moate.
TheCars1986 04-02-2020, 09:43 AM David Chase would be another one for me.
Killarney Rose 04-02-2020, 12:28 PM So many of them....
EighthStreet 04-02-2020, 03:03 PM I can't settle either.
I'd like to know what the backstory of the Tara Calico polaroid was or I'd want to see how Cindy James tied herself up.
drew790 04-02-2020, 07:01 PM Ugh, this is hard.
I think I'm going to go for Cindy James.
Janel "Jaycee" Miller 04-04-2020, 06:44 PM Impossible to pick one, but ...
Michael Rosenblum
John Russell/John Dozier
DB Cooper
Tommy Gibson
I know I will think of more when I hit send but this is a good start.
Janel "Jaycee" Miller 04-04-2020, 06:49 PM Told ya'all I would think of more
Timothy McClure
The teen who disappeared from Florida & later
found dead in Wisconsin.
The Sumter Does
Rob Schaeffer's girlfriend
Little Miss Panasofskee
danmanx 04-05-2020, 09:03 AM Dale Kerstetter is definitely my pick. Did you guys see that the original, non recreated video was released last year? It's terrible quality but the blogger thinks there were actually 2 people involved, besides Dale.
I suspect the plant manager. He painted Dale as a terrible person because it's easier to screw someone over if you sell yourself on it. Poor Dale. He was not in on it, IMHO.
2nd is Angela Hammond. And yes I would step in and stop it. That case just hurts emotionally.
dynoguy88 04-05-2020, 11:01 AM Bobbie Oberholzter and Annette Schnee. When forensic genealogy became available, I thought, "Great! Test the blood from Bobbie's mitten and let's finally be done with this!" But still no updates. It's been 38 years. The man or men need to pay.
A side mystery that I'm always shocked was never featured on UM - the Springfield 3. I desperately find myself wondering who and why? I feel horrible for the loved ones of those three ladies. You have no bodies, no evidence, no arrests, no nothing. Just hundreds of nightmare inducing theories that play out in your head day after day.
freakbook 04-05-2020, 01:33 PM Also Dick Hansen. I'd like to see the events at the restaurant and after.

This one drives me crazy! You're absolutely right, there are so many theories as to what could have happened, and yet nearly 28 years later, there's been no progress.
Everything about it is just super creepy to think about. Their purses lined up side-by-side on the stairs. The blinds positioned in a way that it appears they were looking out at whoever may have taken them before possibly letting them in. The dog acting freaked out. The obscene phone calls the next day their friend received at the house (twice). The broken porch light globe. Even if any of these are red herrings, they set off the most disturbing theories and just make you wonder what on Earth actually happened to lead up to the women vanishing without a trace.
And who was the target? Some people think it was the mother, as the girls weren't supposed to be at the house that night anyway but plans had changed. Or were the girls followed from the friend's house?
This one just gives me goosebumps whenever I think about it.

Am I imagining this or was it reported somewhere that the dog was found in a bathroom with the door shut? Almost as if they put the dog away before letting someone in that was unfamiliar to the dog.
unsolved88 04-06-2020, 02:17 PM Two somewhat similar types of cases, but I'd like to know what really happened with the Wackers and Sarah Powell. I'm not sure one way or the other about the Wackers, but I believe that Sarah had at least some help in perpetrating what was most likely a hoax. A 14-year-old would most likely be unable to ever keep the lie going for so long. I'm beginning to think the whole thing a Munchausen's type of situation where mom (and possibly big sis and other relatives) were in on it and set up the entire scenario.
The phone call to her mother could easily have been a prearranged signal that the staged ransacking of the house was done.
sharonite 04-06-2020, 08:59 PM I’d love to know exactly how Bob Hall managed to track down his wife, kill her in a bizarre fashion, and get back home in time to place his “alibi” phone call. I wonder if he had to give a full allocution as part of his guilty plea.

An article on Reddit, which I assume was copied and pasted, mentions the dog was found in the bathroom with the door shut. Although many sources make no mention of this and a couple other articles state that Cinnamon immediately jumped in to Janelle's arms as soon as she and Mike opened the front door. There's some conflicting reports there. But all sources, including Janelle, state that the dog was very agitated and wanted to be held. Janelle had seen Cinnamon many times before but this was the first time she saw the dog act like this.
Cinnamon was a very tiny Yorkie terrier that probably weighed no more than 4 pounds. Putting the dog away in the bathroom wouldn't have changed the situation much, unless she was one of those tiny dogs that had a loud bark.

Check out that thread. Has a ton of information not shared on the UM segment which shows, IMO, without a shadow of a doubt that Bob Hall murdered Kay.
DALLASTEXAN!! 04-07-2020, 04:32 PM I agree with aforementioned orange socks, David Stone, railroad track murders.
Amy Wroe Bechtel
Paul Whipkey
Michael Francke
Patsy Wright
I would personally also like the see what it was like in Belgium during ww2 when fritz and his mom had a Christmas dinner with US and German soldiers. That story is so inspirational for me personally. It is one of my favorite segments from the show. UM did a great job but if I could go back in time I would like to know more details. I guess I would also like to know more about Rudolph Hess(not so much his death, but what he was doing flying to Britain), white bird crew, and some of the older historical segments that were featured.
LooksLikeCRicci 04-24-2020, 02:38 PM Totally echo Patsy Wright. I'm going to add Dexter Stefonek to the list, too.
UMfan77 04-24-2020, 04:43 PM The Judy Smith case. I'd like to follow her from where she was last seen, seeing the sights in Philadelphia, to where her body was found is North Carolina. I want to see her whole journey. Did she stop anywhere else along the way? Was she alone or with someone? And I want to see how she ended up in the woods. Was she killed where her body was found? Or was she killed elsewhere and then her body was brought there? So many questions.
LooksLikeCRicci 04-29-2020, 02:20 PM Coming back to say SNEHA PHILIP. I've been recently re-reading about her case and all I have are questions. I think it's more than probable she died in the WTC... but what if she didn't?
GyorkLady 04-29-2020, 05:11 PM After watching a couple of the Farina episodes today, I’m going to add Anthonette Cayedito’s abduction.
hostedbyrobertstack 04-29-2020, 08:53 PM I have had this epiphany a while back that I do believe all memories are almost like a recording and exist somewhere in consciousness...so I believe we can at some point tap into those or at least view the exact events once we die. And I will say, I have many that I look forward to seeing :)
MegtheEgg86 05-01-2020, 09:26 AM Some lesser-discussed ones I thought of for this thread:
David Hurley
David Cox
Rena Paquette
Steve Sandlin
WoodBooger 05-13-2020, 09:05 PM The final resting place of Amelia Earhart. Identity of the Zodiac. Who really killed The West Memphis 3, JonBenet Ramsey. Did Donny Hansen really kill his sisters?
I'd be on the stakeout outside the Wacker residence.
Hot Jock 05-14-2020, 07:39 PM Coming back to say SNEHA PHILIP. I've been recently re-reading about her case and all I have are questions. I think it's more than probable she died in the WTC... but what if she didn't?
This is exactly what I was going to say.

JC1957 05-15-2020, 05:22 PM A.J. Breaux right after he left the convenience store that night in 1991.
1990 UM fan 05-15-2020, 09:05 PM Being in the Marfeo household to see what transpired between Stephen and Doreen that lead to her disappearance. Lately I'm convinced she was killed there and buried on the property, a la Bonnie Haim.

Any swimming pools being constructed around the Marfeo household?
MegtheEgg86 05-16-2020, 04:01 PM A.J. Breaux right after he left the convenience store that night in 1991.
YES. I second this one.
WishfulDreamer 05-16-2020, 07:44 PM How Christopher Chichester managed to kill John and Linda Sohus without being discovered (and what exactly happened to Linda). I get that John's mother may have been oblivious to a murder in the backhouse and gullible to the "secret mission" theory due to her alcoholism. But how did it all go down? Where exactly is Linda? Did he lure her to another location by duping her regarding the "job" that the couple told others about before vanishing? And what exactly was his motive?
A_Ghost_named_Samuel 05-16-2020, 10:15 PM Lets just say the show wouldn't be called Unsolved Mysteries when I got back.
GyorkLady 05-17-2020, 03:09 PM I’d go back and see who took Annie Hearin, and what happened to her after she was forced to write the letter to her husband.
jbjr56 05-18-2020, 02:23 PM After watching a couple of the Farina episodes today, I’m going to add Anthonette Cayedito’s abduction.
I agree with that pick and Elizabeth Campbell.
Nats2019Champs 05-19-2020, 11:01 AM I'd love to know how Don Smith really met up with the guy travelling with him and follow them from the time they left the bar where they met up with Brenda & her friends to the time the hikers found Don's body.
Maybe I could even go and whoop everyone in there with Don, go all WWE on them haha.

Welcome! We're glad to have you and we definitely appreciate anyone who is up for a good whoopin'.
dynoguy88 05-19-2020, 11:50 PM The Cindy James case will always fascinate me. Her being responsible makes the most sense. But it always bothered me that all of these police officers who didn't believe her could not catch her in the act for multiple years.
So the last day she is seen, she goes to a strip mall to desposit her paycheck at the bank, then buys groceries and a birthday gift for her friend's son (both found in her car) then she disappears. The previous 6 1/2 years, she was never missing more than a couple hours. Now she's gone two weeks before her body is found. I want to know where she was and how she could have eventually ingested the ungodly amount of drugs that was found in her system.

Add all that with the fact that her body was in a well-traveled area, if I remember correctly. I've always struggled with the fact that no one saw it for so long...
mwcarolina 05-24-2020, 05:27 PM Katherine Korzilius (I want to know what happened), Angela Hammond, Blair Adams, pretty much ANY missing person. Especially kids like Mikayla
Hambone2421 05-25-2022, 09:01 AM Dale Kerstetter, Tim McClure, The Wackers
Hambone2421 05-25-2022, 09:02 AM Coming back to say SNEHA PHILIP. I've been recently re-reading about her case and all I have are questions. I think it's more than probable she died in the WTC... but what if she didn't?
See I'm on the other side of the fence on this one. I'd almost bet money that she didn't die in the WTC attacks.
Sewan23 05-25-2022, 10:33 AM There are too many good ones.
Kurt Sova
Audrey Moate
Rhonda Hinson
Ted Loseff
Su Taraskiewicz
The Wackers—specifically Dorothy’s second assault and their stakeout
Corkys-Place 05-28-2022, 03:04 AM I really want to know what exactly happened to Charles Horvath up there in Tiny Tent Town back in '89. Such a weird case.
Dude111 05-28-2022, 04:19 AM This is a touchy question IMO...but I'll answer.Its easy for me to reply :)
The Roger Dean Case which they still havent solved....
Sewan23 05-28-2022, 11:02 AM Itd easy for me to reply :)
The Roger Dean Case which they still havent solved....
No, it was solved last year.
from the UM wiki page:
In April 2021, sixty-four-year-old Michael Jefferson was arrested and charged with Roger's murder and attempted kidnapping. Investigators used genetic genealogy to match DNA from the ski mask found at the crime scene to Jefferson. It was determined that he had been living in Colorado at the time of the murder and had a criminal history in Denver. An investigator who heard his voice also noted that it sounded the same as the extortionist (who had sent the Deans cassette tapes with his voice on it). On April 6, Jefferson was extradited from Los Angeles to Colorado to face prosecution. If convicted, he could receive a life sentence.
DALLASTEXAN!! 05-28-2022, 02:20 PM Coming back to say SNEHA PHILIP. I've been recently re-reading about her case and all I have are questions. I think it's more than probable she died in the WTC... but what if she didn't?
yes, and before I read your post, I have always been of the mindset that she died at the WTC because it makes logical sense. but there is so much random violent crime against women in the United States. it's very plausible that she was a victim, especially when you factor that she did not make contact with her family.
DALLASTEXAN!! 05-28-2022, 02:24 PM to honor Memorial Day I would also like to know what happened to Charles Shelton. It seems like anything could have happened from him dying soon after his crash to him being captive and dying many years later. regardless, I think it would be nice to give his family some closure. The fact that he was flying a mission over Laos makes it difficult to know what actually happened. being in the Air Force myself this is one that I always struggle to watch because I know what our pilots are risking out there every time they fly.
Dude111 05-28-2022, 06:20 PM No, it was solved last year.Wow very good!!!
I didnt realise they found the idiot!!
Thank you for the update....I bet Rogers family is happy!
Tap Dancer 05-29-2022, 12:19 PM Wow... So many cases spring to mind. I'll go with Kurt Cobain since I've wondered about this case since 1994. Did Kurt actually manage to shoot himself or was he killed by someone Courtney hired?
I'd also be interested to see where Tammy Leppert went after she disappeared. Anyone who went missing, actually.
And how about what really happened at Darlie Routier's house? Her husband had to have been part of that.
Who killed Tommy Burkett? And Keith Warren?
comicbookwriter 06-01-2022, 11:36 AM Good question - I would say:
Cindy James
Chaim Weiss
Eric Tamiyasu (the guy where the sheriff burned the mattress)
the big assassinations (JFK, MLK, Malcolm X, RFK)
Sue Taraskiewicz
Gottacallphelp 06-01-2022, 07:28 PM Blair Adams and Asha Degree!
baloony 06-14-2022, 04:43 PM Dexter Stefonek
Dale Kertstetter
Judith Hyams
Leonard Dirickson
Dwayne Mccorkendale
Oliver Munson
David Hurley
Angela Hammond
Adam Hecht
Anthonette Cayedito
Marlena Childress
Montanacool360 06-14-2022, 07:13 PM Angela Hammond no questions asked i would absolutely love to see that abduction in real time as it occurred of course i hope i have note pad ready to jot down the plate number unfortunately i can’t alter what happens to Angela but i would at least like to see where the abductor went after Rob car gave out.
Clockwork 12-31-2022, 05:11 PM Ayleen Conway's case just for the sheer curiousity of it. Did she really leave the house in a hurry? And if so, why?
Darlie Routier, no matter how hard it would be to watch someone (Darlie?) whack the kids to death. That just perplexes me. Because if there is any chance Darlie is innocent, the lives that were destroyed over that has a ripple effect that will last a lifetime.
