This month, CHCH will be making changes to its retro daytime schedule as many shows will be ending their runs and will be replaced by other classic series. Tomorrow, "The Jeffersons" will take "Mork and Mindy"'s spot at 12:30 pm and on Thursday, "Starsky and Hutch" will return at 2 pm while "St. Elsewhere" will leave. Also set to end later this month will be "Bewitched", "Laverne and Shirley", and "Hill Street Blues". Their replacements have yet to be officially announced but I will fill you in when they happen.

CHCH still hasn't made anything official so I had to go to TV Passport (https://www.tvpassport.com/tv-listings/stations/chch-hamilton-on/43/2020-04-22) to get the info. By the end of this month, the new CHCH retro lineup will look like this:

10:00 am I Love Lucy
10:30 Gidget (replaces "Bewitched")
11:00 Laverne & Shirley (final season - replacement TBA)
11:30 Hogan's Heroes
12:00 pm The Partridge Family
12:30 The Jeffersons (Season 1)
1:00 Mission Impossible (replaces "Hill Street Blues")
2:00 Starsky and Hutch (Season 1)

3 to 6 pm - Unchanged for now

12:30 The Jeffersons (Season 1)
1:00 Mission Impossible (replaces "Hill Street Blues")
2:00 Starsky and Hutch (Season 1)

Today, I checked TV Passport again for an update and the mystery of the last missing show has been solved. As of next Friday, "Good Times" will take over the last morning slot at 11:00 am every morning. So now the final changes for May 2020 are complete. In June, both "The Partridge Family" and "Gidget" will be wrapping up. I hope they can get better replacements than "Good Times" and "The Jeffersons". I blame this on the pandemic. Even network programmers seem to have the virus these days. How sad!

CHCH does keep replacing shows that are wrapping up with shows they previously aired, and it's not surprising. I do wish they'd pick better shows, but I'm actually enjoying "The Jeffersons," a show I rarely watched during it's previous airing on CHCH. And "Gidget." It's cute but annoying, but I do watch it now that I'm stuck at home. What do you think will come back next? Maybe "Bewitched?" "The Monkees?" I'd like so see "Barney Miller" and "Soap" again. I'm not expecting anything new, but maybe they'll surprise us.

My big disappointment with CHCH is that they are constantly breaking in to certain shows for these daily news conferences from Trudeau & Doug Ford. This is a retro channel, not a news channel, and there are so many options for watching these daily briefings. This is the channel people turn to in order to escape the dreary news of reality, if just for a little while. Why CHCH feels the need to do this on Monday to Friday is extremely annoying. And I notice they don't break in to weekend paid programming to air the weekend press conferences.

Thanks for the update.

From what I've been hearing and seeing on the news, The Justin Trudeau and Doug Ford Comedy Hour may only be on for a limited engagement. We can only hope! In real programming news, don't expect anything different from CHCH until the fall season, whenever that might be. That means the recycling will continue for a few more months. I don't really mind, as long as I can keep seeing shows that I love being brought back every so often. But when they start showing "The Jeffersons" and "Good Times" again, that's when I start to get a little annoyed. If I was to guess what might happen in June, I'm going to say that we might see "Taxi" and "The Monkees" come back on in place of "Gidget" and "The Partridge Family". "Barney Miller" and "Soap" are also good guesses. I will let you know when they happen.
