Don't be deceived by the title of this thread. I already know The Beatles broke up in 1970 just like everyone else over 40. I also know that there was a threat that they'd break up sooner, due to drug use, creative differences and what not. I even know that after their last concert at Candlestick Park George Harrison told the rest of the band "That's it, then. I'm not a Beatle anymore."

But I just found something else while trying to seek out color pictures of Debbie Watson. I spotted one picture of her from a February 1965 teen girlie magazine called "Dig" which had a picture of her. What does this have to do with the Fab Four, you ask? Well, one of the articles on the cover blared out the possibility that they might break up. Yes, in 1965.

So was there something going on with The Beatles that early in their career that threatened to split them up. Or was this just hype designed to sell magazines to frantic teenage and pre-teen girls at the time?
