..June E-Letter

Dear fellow travelers,

The end is near! No, I’m not talking apocalyptic, I mean our Family Dream. It is just about time to wake up and return home from our fantasy trip. Can you believe that it has already been over eleven months? In that time we have hit forty-four states, traveled forty-five thousand miles in the Allegro Bus, and put another twenty-five thousand on the minivan.

The memories we have made could - and will - fill a whole scrapbook or two, (or six.) The education we have received easily equals a lifetime of book learning. The appreciation for this beautiful country will provide heart and soul behind every singing of The National Anthem. The gratefulness I feel to my Heavenly Father for this lavish gift could not be expressed in words, but I trust He can read my heart.

This trip has been everything and more than I dreamed it would be. And, it has been so much easier than I anticipated. Sure, it has been close quarters, but that just makes for more family bonding. Of course, the kids fight, but they do that at home. Yes, we are all sick of fast food, but I think cooking is overrated anyway. I must admit, we’ve all missed our friends, but we’ve had our best friends with us everyday.

Not to mention the new friends we’ve made along the way, including you. I have thoroughly enjoyed traveling this trip with you through my daily website journal entries. Isn’t it so true that any experience is exponentially better the more people with whom you get to share it? I also appreciate the added incentive to write everyday. Because of you, I will be able to take this journey with my children and grandchildren over and over again. I don’t know that I would have had the fortitude to keep the journal up without the knowledge that you were counting on me to take you someplace new everyday.

I just can’t fathom the thought of going cold turkey once we get home. Because of that, I plan to continue to journal, but on a weekly basis, rather than a daily one. My life may not be as exciting as a road trip but I promise, beginning July 1st, something new from the Cauble household for you to read every Monday morning at the Coffee Talk section of my website.

Oh by the way, a couple of things - first, thank you all for the overwhelming response I received from last month’s E-letter. I have almost read through all 1,000 emails of thoughtful, helpful answers to my homeschooling survey. It is getting me very excited about writing this next book. I couldn’t have done it without you. If you had trouble last month linking to my new friends at AOP and taking advantage of the discounts they are offering then click www.LisaWhelchel.com/aop.html and check it out.

Secondly, the “DriveTime Devotions For Moms” recording I did is now available on CD or cassette. If you remember me talking about them in my journal last Fall, these are short little devotions to be played in the car on the way to work, carpool, or the grocery store. Obviously, I’m a big believer of having quality time with the Lord every morning. But, I’m also a mom and I know that is not always possible. For those times, this is a great way to get a spiritual jumpstart on your day. You can purchase one at your local Christian bookstore or, even better, at my website at: www.LisaWhelchel.com/shopmain.html

Next time you hear from me I’ll be home. Wow! That’s so hard to believe.

Blessings,
Lisa

P.S. I’m planning on printing all of The Family Dream journal entries into one book just for you. I have no intention of selling it retail, just for my website friends who may be interested. That way, I can still keep the cost under ten dollars and, if you were so inclined, you won’t have to print out thousands of pieces of paper off the Internet. I hope to have it available within the next few months. I’ll keep you posted.

Parenting Tip
Problem Areas: Dining Room

At our house, eating in the living room is a special occasion. Inevitably, our children push to see if can turn this exception into a rule. To curb this impulse, we’ve tied a price to the privilege. Our kids may eat in front of the television if they vacuum the floor when they are finished. This helps them to appreciate the privilege – and keeps them from asking for it every night.

I doubt that she will include any pictures though. It would be too expensive to make all those copies and such. Plus, I don't know if I would want b&w photos of many of the places she has been.

I will get the book, though, because of the FOL reunion.

Another thing... where do I email Lisa at? I want to thank her for doing the daily journal, for doing the reunion, etc... do I just reply to the e-letter??
