View Full Version : "Facts"-ing up movies
'80sSitcoms 03-13-2020, 01:51 PM Here's a thread where we can "Facts up" some movies.
Disney's first animated film was "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", and the first season of "The Facts of Life" featured Mrs. Garrett and seven girls.
So, I present my fan mash-up of:
"Carrot Red and the Seven Girls"
Cast:
------
The Adults:
Carrot Red - Mrs. Garrett
Evil Queen - Miss Mahoney
Slave in the Magic Mirror - the spirit of Mr. Crocker
The Huntsman - Mr. Bradley
The Prince - Mr. Drummond
The Girls:
Snobby - Blair
Phoney - Nancy
Spunky - Sue Ann
Sporty - Cindy
Feisty - Molly
Jokey - Natalie
Sassy - Tootie
Songs:
--------
"I'm Sewing" (instead of "I'm Wishing")
"With a Poof and a Bun" (instead of "With a Smile and a Song")
"Giggle While You Work (Hee-hee-hee-hee-hee-hee-heeeee!)" (instead of "Whistle While You Work")
"I.Q." (instead of "Heigh Ho")
"Someday My Quiche Will Come" (instead of "Someday My Prince Will Come")
And instead of the dwarfs' cottage, the main setting will be the dorm.
I really like this idea! I'll see if I can come up with something of my own.

Hey that's quite a brilliant imagination you've got!
Although, i would rather have MR BRADLEY as 'The prince' instead of MR DRUMMOND (he's a lot younger and handsome lol!);)

Thanks!
Well, I chose Mr. Drummond because he and Mrs. Garrett get along so well (usually!), and they're closer in age, and it's funny picturing him carrying her off on his horsey!

Haha, true, but you'd have to change some story details, lol.
By the way, I wrote "With a Poof and a Bun" just for you! I changed it from "With a Needle and Thread" since you love her big poof so much!

valentina warner 03-13-2020, 08:11 PM I'd see Mr. Crocker more as evil than Miss Mahoney
In my opinion they should have kept the 3 of them: MR CROCKER the 'crock' (he was hilarious in his only episode 'The girl's school', cos afterwards he was replaced).
MISS MAHONEY (she really cracked me up with her mimics and sharp comments) and
MR BRADLEY (he totally amused me with his funny comments, and how he put himself in silly situations, aka 'Flash flood' and even had BLAIR fall for him hee hee!)
'80sSitcoms 03-14-2020, 12:48 AM "Cindy-ella"
Cast:
-------
Cindy-ella - Cindy
Nasty Stepsister 1 - Blair
Nasty Stepsister 2- Nancy
Wicked Stepmother - Miss Mahoney
Prince Charming - Greg Hockney
The King - Mr. Bradley
The Grand Duke - Mr. Crocker
Fairy Godmother - Mrs. Garrett
-
RetroGuy2000 03-14-2020, 01:49 AM But Blair could have played both of the nasty step-sisters. ;)
I take it the other girls are mice?
Lorimar Television 03-14-2020, 02:53 AM Haha! Poor Miss Mahoney
valentina warner 03-14-2020, 03:23 PM Leave BLAIR alone guys! Why does everyone always have to see her as the 'bad guy' lol?
'80sSitcoms 03-14-2020, 03:26 PM And in "Cindy-ella" instead of a glass slipper, it would be a soaked spike, lol, and as for Mrs. Garrett turning a pumpkin into a coach, instead of a pumpkin, of course she would use the infamous bowl of cheese dip! ;)
RetroGuy2000 03-14-2020, 10:27 PM Leave BLAIR alone guys! Why does everyone always have to see her as the 'bad guy' lol?
Oh, I was just quoting Nancy in "The Girls' School". She tells Blair that Blair could play both of the nasty step-sisters.

Hey, did you see the thread i wrote on FOL? (I guess you guys must have been out partying when i posted it). It's about ideas i came up with, on a new MRS G in 2020 and her girls...:p
'80sSitcoms 03-16-2020, 11:02 AM And then of course there was that time I "Factsed up" "The Little Mermaid". I made a thread about that in summer of 2018 (https://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=372170)---not sure if it was a "summer blockbuster" or not.
Cast
------
King Triton - Mr. Bradley
Ursula - Mrs. Garrett
Ariel - Sue Ann
Ariel's sisters:
Aquatta - Blair
Andrina - Molly
Arista - Natalie
Attina - Cindy
Adella - Nancy
Alanna - Tootie
A note of season 1 continuity: Mrs. Garrett put a flower in Nancy's hair, and now Sue Ann is putting one in Mr. Bradley's.
(I didn't cast the girls in order of age to match the birth order of the "mergirls", but rather, I just went with where I thought most of the photo mock-ups would make good matches, lol)

'80sSitcoms 03-16-2020, 05:45 PM Haha love it! Sue Ann the star!
Yup! Just wait for her big soul-baring number where she sings longingly about the big crop up there on the land in the middle of North America: "Corn of Your World"!
RetroGuy2000 03-16-2020, 10:05 PM Okay, now do Return to Oz!
'80sSitcoms 03-17-2020, 10:33 AM Okay, now do Return to Oz!
That seems a little tough---there are males in that one!
I mean yeah there are males in these other ones, but minimally, lol, and mostly adult ages.
That said, I LOVE RtO! :loveya:
Okay, here's a cast list:
Dorothy - Molly
Aunt Rose - Rose Polniaczek
Uncle Charlie - Charlie Polniaczek
Head Wheeler - Roy
"Miss" Mombie - Miss Mahoney
The Gnome King - Mr. Harris
Scarecrow - Harrison
Tik-Tok - Dr. Green
The Gump - Jo
Ozma - Nancy (after all she is "invisible" and in walls, lol)
RetroGuy2000 03-17-2020, 02:38 PM Nice!
I'm a little surprised you chose Dr. Green to play Tik-tok over "Stopwatch" Bradley, but I'm delighted with your choices of Roy as the Head Wheeler and of course your brilliant casting of Miss Mahombi.
'80sSitcoms 03-17-2020, 02:44 PM Nice!

Well, Dr. Green is a bit more "rotund", and he's older and very analytical, lol.
but I'm delighted with your choices of Roy as the Head Wheeler and of course your brilliant casting of Miss Mahombi.
"Miss Mahombi"!
Lorimar Television 03-17-2020, 05:37 PM Never seen return to oz. Whos the villain of that?
'80sSitcoms 03-17-2020, 05:41 PM Never seen return to oz. Whos the villain of that?
You should see it! It's not like "The Wizard of Oz" though, it's more in tone with the books. So it's more like '80s fantasy movies like "The Neverending Story" or "Labyrinth".
It has 2 villains: Princess Mombi, and The Gnome King.
Plus, the Wheelers are bad.
RetroGuy2000 03-17-2020, 06:10 PM Never seen return to oz. Whos the villain of that?
It is a cult classic.

Tootie would be so pissed you didn't make her a part of The Peekskill Players. She's the actress after all! Let's at least make up a part for her.
How about Town Gossip of Oz who gives Dorothy the lowdown on all the goings on when she arrives. :)

'80sSitcoms 04-13-2020, 02:31 AM Oh cfr, speaking of being scared from movies (as you've discussed Oz in another thread), have you seen "The Ten Commandments"? If so, did anything there scare you as a child?
cfr1970 04-13-2020, 02:37 AM Oh cfr, speaking of being scared from movies (as you've discussed Oz in another thread), have you seen "The Ten Commandments"? If so, did anything there scare you as a child?
From The Ten Commandments? Oh no, that's actually one of my favorites. I don't think there's anything that scary in that one. I watch it every year when it shows on TV...except for this year because ABC screwed with viewers and showed it the weekend before Easter weekend and I missed it. I was so pissed by that! :angryfire
Along that same theme there is one that scared me. There'a a film they played on TV every Easter back in the 70's, it was called "Jesus of Nazareth" and there's a scene there they show the shadow off the wall of a baby being killed, because I think they were trying to kill baby Jesus.
Anyway, since I was little, I crapped my pajamas thinking that's what happens to babies and young children.:lol:

Awww! Leon got a role! I know he'll be happy, after his role being stolen by a pig.
Come to think of it, Miss Downes is too nice to play a wicked witch. That should be Margo from Fargo.
'80sSitcoms 04-13-2020, 03:00 AM From The Ten Commandments? Oh no, that's actually one of my favorites. I don't think there's anything that scary in that one. I watch it every year when it shows on TV...except for this year because ABC screwed with viewers and showed it the weekend before Easter weekend and I missed it. I was so pissed by that! :angryfire
I do too, except I got a DVD set a few years ago (it's so long it's on 2 discs, so you have to get up and change it at the "intermission"---sorta like a laser disc! lol), so since my family is all practicing "isolation", since I couldn't be with any of them, I at least watched this "Easter eve night" to keep the viewing tradition (like when "Wizard of Oz" used to be shown every February).
(that said, I can't believe ABC showed TC a week too soon, jeez)
Well, I wasn't "nightmare-scared" like you were with Oz's winged monkeys, BUT, I was very intimidated by the angel of death coming for the first-borns. You remember how the green mist that was the angel of death first appears in the night sky near the moon? Did you ever notice how it forms the shape of a giant gnarled, claw-like hand??? That always unsettled me! But I felt secure with the "good people" being safe in their homes with the lamb's blood on the doors (yay, but yuck!)
Also, I remember pondering this in my child-mind, and being "very concerned" about this particular plague. See, I wasn't clear at such a young age if it was every first-born male, or first-born period (it's "period"). So when I wasn't sure, I remember thinking, "well, if this was today, if it was every first-born son I'd be in trouble , but if it was every first-born child, I'd be okay 'cause my sister's older than me!" (my little mind must have been mixing that up with the first-born sons in the beginning of the film killed by Really Meanie Pharaoh's orders, so I'd have been toast there! lol)

Holy jeez, yikes, what an upbringing!
Oh, and here's a TC Easter egg for ya! So I watched the film last night, and I re-watched it today for the audio commentary (that is a LOT of time with these commandments!!) And guess what? For the plagues, they actually filmed another plague that was cut from the film! De Mille wasn't satisfied because it looked "funny" instead of "scary": the plague of frogs. It centers around Nefertiri. Here's a look at the apparently only surviving photo from the scene! (don't get excited by the introductory text: it makes you think there's a "script" to this scene, and an actual "reconstruction", but it only shows the photo while playing a scream, sandwiching in to where it would have fit between brief clips bookending it: )

I wouldn't say that. I like to think of him still hopping around the dorm off-camera. :)
Come to think of it, Miss Downes is too nice to play a wicked witch. That should be Margo from Fargo.
But Margo is sooooo unlikable, lol (actually I don't think she'd make a good Wicked Witch of the West; she doesn't have that character's "manic hyper intensity" that Miss Downs does, lol; but anyone's free to cast their own version). And for this particular version, you'll notice the adults are the witches.
And come on, just think of Hazel Shermet in a witch get-up---she would make a fantastic over-the-top witch! One you'd love to watch on the screen! :)
And don't forget, she was all too ready to send Mrs. Garrett up the river as "Harrison's department store clerk"!
cfr1970 04-13-2020, 10:36 AM I do too, except I got a DVD set a few years ago (it's so long it's on 2 discs, so you have to get up and change it at the "intermission"---sorta like a laser disc! lol), so since my family is all practicing "isolation", since I couldn't be with any of them, I at least watched this "Easter eve night" to keep the viewing tradition (like when "Wizard of Oz" used to be shown every February).

I completely understand. To a young child's mind, these are huge and scary things to ponder. Flying monkeys snatching you up and people killing children...and these were the family films!
And yeah, i'm still so pissed I missed it this year. It's a tradition to watch it on Easter Eve and when it wasn't on Saturday night, I Googled it and saw it aired 4/3 instead. WHY?! I suspect the network did that purposely to make people miss it. But this is the wrong forum to go into that!

Actually, the original actress was NANCY: remember the pilot episode 'The girl's school?'
Just as MOLLY was the photographer (not TOOTIE) and if i'm honest BLAIR was the one playing an instrument:the guitar lol (and not JO)!!!!
So the writers surely did a lousy job man!:confused::confused:

I love your idea but this is what i have in mind:
BLAIR as CHER (the clueless of course)
JO as AMBER (she was a foil for CHER, just as JO was for BLAIR)
NAT as TAI (the insecure girl who loves guys in general, just as NAT)
TOOTIE as DIONNE (not only because she's black, but TOOTIE always got on with BLAIR, just as DIONNE was bestie with CHER).
Now, for the guys:
BEN as JOSH (he is the guy CHER falls for, just as BLAIR did with BEN in 'Gone with the wind')
EDDIE as CHRISTIAN (i think he was the 'gay' guy but for some reasons he reminds me of EDDIE ha ha)
SNAKES as ELTON (he'd be the right one for TAI just as SNAKES is for NAT)
JEFFREY as MURRAY (like TOOTIE, he was the longtime boyfriend of DIONNE).
I cannot see any of the adult ones as MRS G or MR PARKER, sorry....:wave::wave:

You seem to forget that BLAIR had a 'heart of gold' and especially on season 1: she helped NAT find her real mother, she comforted MOLLY when her parents were going through a divorce and she got TOOTIE out of trouble in the 'Dope' episode.:p
If that REGINA character is the one i'm thinking of: the MEANEST one on 'MEAN GIRLS', there is no way BLAIR could have been her, cos that girl just used LINDSAY LOHAN and made her a 'clone' of herself!!!
On the other hand, i can totally see MARGO as REGINA: that girl was surely cruel lol! (Even 'rebellious' BLAIR from the pilot episode wasn't that bad).

Lorimar Television 04-15-2020, 06:13 PM Pilot Blair wasn't bad? She insulted all the girls, smoked and let Mrs G take the blame and still insulted her.

Well okay, she was 'Naughty' then, but she changed quite a bit after the episode 'Rough housing' when MRS G lectures her.;););)

Mean Girls time!
Cady: Molly
Regina: Blair
Ms. Norbury: Miss Mahoney
Mr. Duvall: Mr. Parker
Mrs. George: Monica
Cady's Mom: Natalie's mom
Gretchen: Boots
Janis Ian: Jo
Damian: I honestly have no idea, there was really no flamboyantly gay character on this show
Cady's Dad: Natalie's dad
Aaron: Eddie
Karen: Cindy
Kevin: Andy
Nice work, Impressions!
Almost all of these work really well. Blair/Boots would be a real "hoot" as Regina George/Gretchen Wiener. Blair is basically already a nicer version of Regina, as the head girl in school. I can totally see Boots saying the "rules of feminism" are that you don't date your friend's ex-boyfriend.
Molly would also work well as Cady: intelligent, more worldly, and kind of odd. Yet clearly pretty enough after a MG makeover.
The only thing I'd change is:
Swap Sue Ann for Cindy, as Karen. Karen was "the dumbest girl in school." As we saw in MG, Karen was so dumb she thought her "fifth sense" was ESPN. This doesn't really fit Cindy, who seemed quite bright, but matches Sue Ann in the pilot, who didn't even know when Blair was insulting her. In addition, Blair/Regina is constantly putting down Sue Ann/Karen.
Shame there's no Damian. Jo wouldn't have anyone to hang out with when Molly wasn't around.

I'd still say MARGO/BOOTS would be REGINA: BLAIR was too nice to play such mean character (she had the 'heart of gold' none of those two had):wave::wave:

I don't know... Regina does get better, at the end. After her accident. And recovery. And the summer vacation.

Oh really? I guess i don't remember the whole MEAN GIRLS movie (i only watched it once when it came out at the cinema) but if REGINA gets better, then let her be BLAIR....:wave::wave:

I think it could go either way. I thought Sue Ann was pretty quippy and knows how to give a really good clapback when she’s insulted by Blair, or she instigates it. Someone who was really dumb wouldn’t be able to fire back real quick with a clever comeback. That’s why I wrote her off as Karen. Sue Ann had the lowest IQ and did some pretty stupid stuff dumb like dieting and would probably eat a Kalteen bar to lose the weight, but gain in back because she didn’t know what’s in it. But Cindy didn’t even know what “feminine wiles” were in “The Slumber Party” episode. She also seemed like the jock type and (later become a fashion model) so she may not be interested in studying, so that’s why I put in her as a Karen. But then again, I don’t think anyone on this show would be a true fit for Karen. I can’t think of anyone that was THAT dumb.

There aren't many roles here! I guess they can be "extras" as members of the Eastland Rescue Aid Society.
Actually, at first I had Blair as Bianca, and Jo as Bernard!

Haha never seen it unfortunately. Seems like a mostly forgotten classic

Yes, I was surprised to learn you haven't seen every Disney movie. I just take it for granted that any huge Disney fan will have seen at least all of the animated films.
I think you'd enjoy it. It's before our time, in the funky '70s, but it's a gem of a view.
Seems like a mostly forgotten classic
Kind of. It's in that weird "in-between" period at Disney. But it really struck a chord with children of the '70s and '80s, especially ones from the '70s. Ask any person who got to see this film in its original release in '77, and they will most likely have strong, vivid memories of this movie they've held onto for 40 years. I first got to see it when I was very young in the '80s as a re-release with the brand new featurette "Mickey's Christmas Carol". :)
I believe it became the highest grossing animated film upon its original release; in France, it even out-grossed Star Wars! (sacre bleu!)
