I watched the episode where her Dad died today and Mindy Cohn actually pushed out real tears with no smile or laugh suppression! :lol:

When the episode began I thought "Oh hell no she won't be able to pull this one off" but by the end of the episode I concede that she did pretty good with the grief scene with real tears and all. (I think Kim Fields was much better in this one though imo).

She must have really practiced a lot for this one lol. But she pulled it off ok. :clap:

One thing I did like was the continuity of her family members being played by the same people. I know Blair's Mother was changed to another actress and on Golden Girls they always had different people playing their relatives which drove me NUTS! I like that FOL tried to stay consistent in that area.

I also love that it's the same woman who played her Grandma from when she visited Eastland in the 3nd season. She's just so adorable. :)

Yes! She is SO adorable that in her first appearance, Natalie comes off like such an unlikable self-entitled BRAT. lol (sorry Nat!)

Natalie's tears were real. In the scene where she's telling her Mom not to give away her Dad's things, you can see the real tears well up in her eyes. I was shocked she was able to pull that off.

Jo was great with the waterworks....Nancy McKeon can turn on those tears like a faucet lol.

Tootie wasn't over the top here. I thought she was pretty subtle in her performance. Real tears in her eyes too.

Blair, I never saw do it. Not a drop ever fell from her eyes...but that would totally ruin her mascara so she gets a pass from me. :)

On a good ol'-fashioned PC, I just copy & paste the source person first, like "[QUOTE =cfr1970;5694836]" (without the space or quotation marks), then what portion I want quoted out of the whole message, I put "[/ quote]" (again, no space quotations) right after it (example below).

And if you want to quote more than one person, simply copy the [QUOTE=] beginning code, and just plug in the different user name instead of the original one. :)

Yeah, as time went along, Mindy got better. As mentioned in the documentaries, she wasn't a professional actress; she was a girl they found at the Westlake Boarding School for Girls, Charlotte loved her, and they brought her on the show because she was a riot.

DO NOT get me started on the Golden Girls' relatives, and the continuity issues. OMG. I love the show, but it's like they never kept a Show Bible, or bothered to watch previous episodes and hire back the people from previous episodes.

The way she acted with Mrs. G about the Jermaine Jackson concert was really extreme, but yes it is continuity if we're going to accept this as being part of her personality. Tootie was a very emotional character, so this is why her reaction at the funeral didn't raise eyebrows. It was expected imo. And besides, Natalie is her best friend and you'd expect her over Blair and Jo to be more concerned for her.

Oh, we're definitely hardcore fans. Several of us have watched the episodes countless times. And yet, we still can find things to point out the next time we watch.

Sometimes, we even create limericks, poems, (or in '80s Sitcoms' case, sonnets) in honor of the show.

Just the mention of cheese dip still gets me laughing. (We watched "Like Mother, Like Daughter", and someone mentioned how Mrs. Garrett asks Cindy to bring in the cheese dip. But Cindy ignores her, and instead goes upstairs to get dressed, so we started getting silly and forming crazy fan theories on why Cindy wouldn't bring in the cheese dip).

It's been so much fun interacting with these guys here on Sitcoms Online.

Her Wikipedia page says she died of Alzheimer's in 1992, so it could have began back when she was on FOL. She lived until 94 years old too, but I hope there weren't many years being invalid due to the disease. She was so adorable on FOL and also when she was young.
