Buzzr has quietly returned Split Second to its former weekdays at 10AM home leading into Blockbusters. Split Second is listed on the schedule for today, so it may have started back Monday. It will also keep Saturdays from 10:30-11:30AM, but Press Your Luck takes over that hour on Sundays. Press Your Luck is now gone from weekdays. A few other changes I saw: Match Game Hollywood Squares Hour has replaced regular Match Game in the 11AM hour. MG/HS Hour will also remain in primetime at 10PM/1AM. Regular Match Game keeps all its other weekday hours at noon, 5-7PM, and 4-6AM. The Price is Right is gone from the weekend lineup now. Sundays has an hour of Sale of the Century at 4PM, and 3 hour marathons of Supermarket Sweep from 5-8PM. Sweep keeps all its slots on weekdays as well, the Sweep/Split Second/Blockbusters block will make a fantastic trio paired together, even more appealing for me than when Temptation led into the Split Second/Blockbusters hour. I knew Buzzr was changing their schedule on March 30 that includes the addition of Jack Narz Concentration, but was surprised to see all these changes Buzzr didn't announce in place a few weeks before the 30th.

I did a little research on the show, I was surprised to see there were only 130 episodes. The show was launched on December 15th 1986 and ran into September of 87. 130 episodes would come out to 26 weeks, so first run shows probably ended in June with reruns featured until September. I remember seeing some episodes back in the 80's and could swear Monty had stopped dying his hair, I haven't seen any episodes like that and I believe I have viewed all that Buzzr has made available. I remember the 70's show being more fast-paced, I like Monty but he's a bit to folksy for a quiz show which may have had an adverse impact on the viewing audience. The show is also a little lax with the ruling on answers allowing technically incorrect answers to stand.
Behind the scenes the show was filmed in Canada, the announcer, Sandy Hoyt has very few IMD credits, and died young at 63. The model Sharolyn Sparrow worked as an actress and has movie and TV credits running from 1980-94.

There appeared to be different edits of the show for Canadian and American television. The Canadian shows, running currently on Game TV, had mentions of the Toronto hotel that the staff stayed at, and car dealer that supplied the grand prize. When I've seen shows on BUZZR, either that part is cut out or it was never seen in the US.
Game TV has previously aired the final episode. The winning contestant ended up taking the trip. Monty mentioned that he'd hope we'd continue watching Split Second. He didn't say "we'll see you next time". Either he knew they had been cancelled and didn't want to say, since there were summer reruns coming, or they were still hoping for a renewal. I guess the contestant took the trip because there was no guarantee he'd actually be able to come back.
Maybe this version isn't as good as the original, but I would have loved to have seen a second season.

It's been over 2 months since Split Second reinserted into Weekday Buzzr Schedule allowing Press Your Luck move to 4pm ET/3pm CT and separating the hour of Card Sharks(Perry & Eubanks).
