I've always wondered if the kitchen set was really part of the whole set as seen in this video's model. That would mean they would have had to move the cameras all the way in the back to film there. Or if there was a partial kitchen set you could see from the living room and a full kitchen set in another location.

There is a photo of Mabel Albertson at the front door set. You can see behind the (open) front door that the wall of the den (by the front porch) is missing and there is stuff stored there.
