My reaction:
Wow!!!!
Wowowowowow!!!
WOW!!!!
Lost Girls fans, and fans of the First Season are very likely to enjoy this. There are so, sooo many behind-the-scenes (behind closed doors?) photos, stories, and thoughts we've NEVER, ever heard before. We truly learn things never before spoken in any documentary or interview. It was very thorough. The documentary team did their research! This was in depth. This would please even most Season One super-fans.
This documentary fits very nicely as a bookend to my YouTube video, and may have been inspired by it. Certainly, it reflects the fact that producers realize the original characters were beloved, and they took time to tell their stories. It wasn't a Nancy McKeon love-fest, although that happened in the second half.
We get stories from Julie, Julie Anne, Jenny, John, Geri, and even someone whose name doesn't start with a "J" sound: Felice! Every single one of those stories is already dear to me. I am in tears. A full hour of the documentary is dedicated to the Lost Girls and the first season. It's a true tribute to what the show was supposed to be.
I can't thank enough everyone involved in this production. Julie Pie's behind-the-scenes photos (which she kept in her scrapbook for 40 years), the Getty images never before seen, Julie Anne's sad words about Charlotte's passing, Felice's heartbreak, the special spotlight on Molly, the mention of the Ratings Spike during The Little Chill, Jenny's explanation for her character's departure, Geri and Mack, John discussing Charlotte...
Too much emotion, right now. Too much new info to process all at once. I don't even have my thoughts sorted, yet. But I loved it.
---
And a minor nitpick: they misspelled the name Schachter EVERY SINGLE TIME it appeared. And it appeared a lot.
Who else saw it?! What did everyone think? I am DYING! My heart just burst!

It is. We get answers to many of the questions we've been asking for DECADES. It's like the producers read this forum. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't. But it feels like it.
I sure hope it’s online soon!
I hope to have clips up later tonight.
And miss Mahoney appears?
YES! Jenny O'Hara herself! And not just briefly, either. There's a whole section for her.

Did Mrs. Mahoney's Season 1 hair make an appearance or did it leave her behind when the 80s ended.

We do see flashbacks to The Hair.
80s Dude 03-09-2020, 06:33 AM I just check Getty images and searched Facts of Life and I saw some images that were not there a couple of weeks ago. One image of Charlotte with Lisa and Kim from Season 1. A couple of picture of Lisa, Kim, and Mindy a couple of years later at a slumber party (a picture of Rick Springfield's 1981 album gives away about the year it was taken). I will try to post them soon here.

When I saw the photo of Molly giving Lisa the rabbit ears, I will be honest. At first I was wondering who that boy was and if it was John Lawlor's son. Then I looked again and then I realized, oh that is Molly.
80s Dude 03-09-2020, 11:33 AM I've seen some negative reaction on Facebook by Core Four fans who are upset that none of the Core Four were interviewed. My reaction is that the Core Four and Molly can give their perspective on the show anytime they want and the Core Four has done so many times. The rest of the victims of the Great Purge don't have that luxury. This documentary gives them a chance for them to tell their story and their perspective.

No. There are no interviews with NBC executives. Only the producers, director, cast, and crew. Eve Branstein does a ton of the casting explanations. Assad Kelada talks about working with Geri. Margie goes crazy with justifications for removing Tootie's catchphrase. Everyone says "OMG, there were seven students! How could we have that many students on a six-minute long show!? It's never been done before or since."
(Luckily, low ratings are NOT mentioned as the cause for the Cast Purge, as we now know that was not really accurate, and they discuss several episodes' high ratings).

And here is a shocking fact of The Facts of Life.
Jenny O'Hara says she left the show after just four episodes because of Charlotte Rae. She says Charlotte was cold and distant to her. She says there was never one incident, but she could feel the coldness coming from Charlotte. She didn't like the direction her character was going, she wanted Miss Mahoney to have heart-to-hearts with the girls, but that was Charlotte's role, so after four episodes, she asked to break her contract, which the producers agreed to. And that is why we only got Miss Mahoney for four episodes.
To me, that is QUITE the shocker.

I'm doing 7-minute videos because there's no way I can do 15-minute videos right now. I have to use the computer myself, which means I can't be uploading videos all day long (the bandwidth needed to upload the videos takes away from the bandwidth needed to, for example, check email, watch videos, view photos, and post messages here).

80s Dude 03-09-2020, 04:04 PM In Charlotte's defense, it was her show. I think most people would react in a coworker tried to move in on his or her territory if that was not what the role of the character was originally cast to be. This would be more like Tina Louise on Gilligan's Island trying to get top billing despite the show not being called Ginger's Island. It's not like in Alice where Linda Lavin got jealous of Polly Holiday's popularity as Flo. It was not Polly Holiday's fault that the Alice character was so square.

80s Dude, I know exactly what you're saying, and I certainly agree about Tina Louise, but... this is Mrs. Garrett, we're talking about. To hear Charlotte described as "cold" to someone... Just... NO!
I had always believed it was the producers who had asked Jenny to leave, after deciding the cast was too large, based on what Kim said in her book. But no. This brings a new perspective to Geri's comments, as well.

Well, Kim didn't mention Miss Mahoney in her book. But she did mention the retooling after the first four episodes, initiated by the network/producers, which made me believe Miss Mahoney was axed at that point, due to the retooling. I never would have imagined it was because of Charlotte.

An hour and 15 minutes for the 1st season and 45 minutes for Seasons 2-9. The Core Four pretty much said all that they could say about the show since they appeared in so many past documentaries, reunions, town halls, interviews. A new documentary would need extensive interviews from other actors to provide new information and stories of others.

Charlotte Rae said she thought Mrs. Garrett was too good two shoes and she though Mrs. Garrett should show emotion. She asked the producers to have Mrs. Garrett get angry. I think Molly was the first one to really got yelled at by Mrs. Garrett in Molly's Holiday.
Then again, if Jenny O'Hara was moving into Charlotte's role and tried to worm her way into it, I can see why Charlotte didn't take very kindly to it.
Sitcommania 03-09-2020, 08:30 PM When Facts of Facts reviewed IQ, they said Jenny O’Hara seemed elated to be in her last episode. So maybe now we know why.

I'm sure that this has been asked before but why was Cindy (Julie Ann Haddock) replaced by Jo, who was also a tomboy-ish character with an adversarial relationship with Blair? What I mean is that Cindy among the four girls from Season 1 to be cut, was the last to go. I'm guessing that the producers felt that needed to add new blood to the show (it's an open secret that the Jo character was inspired by Kristy McNichol's character in the film Little Darlings with Tatum O'Neal's character being the Blair equivalent). One theory that I heard is that the producers were likely afraid to push Cindy's storyline. There was of course, that one episode from Season 1 which pretty much insinuated that Blair thought that Cindy was a budding lesbian, which really made Blair come across as appearing homophobic. That storyline was pretty edgy for a prime-time show in 1979.
RetroGuy2000 03-10-2020, 05:43 PM The link to Part 1 (of 4) is up, and is in the first post in this thread. I think they wanted a more adversarial character, ala Little Darlings. Cindy had already 'kissed and made up' with Blair. "The New Girl" episode is basically a rip-off of "Little Darlings": two girls who hate each other steal a van to go partying and meet guys.

Yes, one hour for casting the Pilot and Season One, and one hour for the rest, although we do get closing statements from the Lost Girls, John, and Jenny in the second half, so it's really less than an hour for S 2-9.

I think you're right retro: CINDY had already made up with BLAIR and the rest of the lost girls were too nice, so they decided to introduce a really 'mean' character to defy BLAIR (JO for instance) and i don't mind them doing that in the least, but like you suggested before, i like your idea of building a time machine so we could go back to 1979-80 to keep all the season 1 'lost girls' in the show onward.
If i had been an adult back then or one of the writers, i would have prevented 'lost girls, MR BRADLEY and MISS MAHONEY' being kicked out of the out show!
In fact, i would have introduced JO as another one of the girls to defy BLAIR with SUE ANN's help, but certainly not as the MAIN one: that was BLAIR and JO kind of stole her limelight...

I am so glad to be able to share with you guys, and anyone else who has enjoyed the videos, articles, photos, and scripts. It's only through our discussions that we understand this show. Watching the series is great, but at times, it just raises more questions than it answers. Why did Cindy suddenly appear, when she had never been seen before? Why did Miss Mahoney suddenly disappear? What was Julie Pie really smoking during "Dope"? How did the Lost Girls feel when Charlotte passed on? This documentary answers all of those questions, and more!
RetroGuy2000 03-10-2020, 08:05 PM Yes, thank you, that’s very generous of you to share!
I'm actually just being selfish, because I want people to talk with about the documentary!
I loved the E! True Hollywood Story documentary on The Facts of Life when I saw it back in 1999, and I also enjoyed the DVD interviews with the cast. For me, this documentary was better than any of them. It blew them out of the water, actually. It was so much more in depth, without most of the same old stories (although a few of them are repeated). Sooo much new info we had never heard. So many perspectives we'd never heard before. :)
Lorimar Television 03-10-2020, 08:05 PM Yes. You should have a link, now, to at least download it. Any problems, please let me know.

80s Dude 03-10-2020, 09:18 PM I think you're right retro: CINDY had already made up with BLAIR and the rest of the lost girls were too nice, so they decided to introduce a really 'mean' character to defy BLAIR (JO for instance) and i don't mind them doing that in the least, but like you suggested before, i like your idea of building a time machine so we could go back to 1979-80 to keep all the season 1 'lost girls' in the show onward.
I would have move Mr. Bradley to Mr. Parker's status. He would have been there part time like what a real headmaster or school President would not be as involved in student's lives like Mr. Bradley was.

So if Julie Ann Haddock was originally going to auditioned for a country bumpkin which probably was the Sue Ann character. Since Julie Ann was athletic and a self identified tomboy herself, she fit in well as Cindy the tomboy.

This is what I was thinking, too. But if she was auditioning for the part of Sue Ann, why not say "Sue Ann", instead of "a country bumpkin"? Wouldn't she have said, "Julie Piekarski got that role."?
Just throwing this out there: maybe she was auditioning for the part of Jennifer, who had a frog named Leon. (I know, in the episode itself, it was Laura who owned Leon, but in the script we have, it was Jennifer).
Spoilers......................
Lorimar Television 03-10-2020, 10:33 PM They probably didn’t give the characters names yet when they auditioned since it was so disorganized, but it does sound like Sue Ann.

Yeah, I said this years ago, myself. Even if they didn't want to keep John around full-time, they needed a headmaster for headmaster-y type scenes. And because they had already gone through two headmasters very quickly before him (because there was someone right before we saw Mr. Crocker ("he was "the new headmaster"), then Crocker himself), for the sake of continuity, it didn't make sense to drop Bradley after one season.
And since Harris only lasted a season himself, this leads the viewer to believe there were five Eastland headmasters in the space of only four years.
RetroGuy2000 03-10-2020, 10:37 PM They probably didn’t give the characters names yet when they auditioned since it was so disorganized, but it does sound like Sue Ann.
It clearly was disorganized. There's no doubt of that. Eve was grabbing girls she saw at plays, and they somehow passed over Julie Anne in favor of Jennifer and Laura. Jennifer and Laura, people!
Lorimar Television 03-10-2020, 10:37 PM Idk if John talks about it in the special but maybe they asked him to return and he declined?

Interesting revelations that the stress got to Charlotte during the first season when she sat on a haybale (I would guess this would have been in the stable set during the "Flash Flood" episode** and cried in John Lawlor's arms. In the past Charlotte said John Lawlor was her best friend on the show. I wonder who she relied on for adult support after he was fired?
One thing to remember was that Charlotte raised two sons. She probably didn't have much experience with dealing eith teen girls, except for her younger sister in her life.

That was such a huge change. Maybe by then, she felt comfortable. Or maybe that is why she was alternately warm with and cool to the girls.

Where about do you live in USA: 'Wisconsin'? Sorry but i can't help thinking about MRS G/ CHARLOTTE RAE being from there (although i read online that she comes from Russian immigrants, interesting lol)
Just today, i was watching 'The facts of love' and how MRS G gives the girls a class about sex education: that's another one of my favourite episodes, cos she challenges MR BRADLEY's authority when she orders him to seat down and remain quiet (after he tries to interrupt her classes hee hee hee!).
You know, i really wish they had done more episodes about her teaching in classes: she would have made such a great teacher! She quite bright and wise (she did great in the 'IQ' episode and outsmarted MR BRADLEY).
To me, MRS G was the smartest of them all, and i'm sure that given the opportunity, she would have made a great career somewhere.
If only everyone had a MRS G in their life.....;)

Sitcommania 03-13-2020, 08:33 PM Loving it. It’s really interesting to have an interview with Jenny O’Hara. She’s worked so much I’m surprised she remembers so much, having been on Facts for just a short time, but it’s really insightful.
Lorimar Television 03-13-2020, 11:02 PM Finally watching! Love the focus on Dope! Its awesome to hear that Julie was hesitant about the plot until Charlotte explained that peer pressure tends to effect the more innocent. Love the Helen Hunt stuff too! Wow Julie smoked a TEABAG, I always wondered what it was! I dont see how Tootie's catchphrase was stereotypical. I like that Margie clarified cutting the lost girls wasn't about not liking them, just about really liking the remaining three.

Yeah, of all the people I thought would discuss their time on FOL, I just never expected Jenny O'Hara. But as you say, and I totally agree, she was a very insightful and interesting interview.
I never had any idea things between her and Charlotte were cold, or that she would describe it as a turf war. I never noticed any tension on camera, and always figured Jenny had left because the network was apoplectic about the size of the cast.
She also had so many interesting things to say about other things, as well: the hot pants, the relationship she had with the girls... all of it was great. As you say, she's done so much other work that for her to remember the four episodes of a show she did 40 years ago... that's impressive.

It's way nicer than Warren Littlefield's phrasing: "Bu-bye, Molly!"
This was the documentary we deserved years ago, and while I still completely disagree that the cast had to be purged, I feel like this documentary was at least done respectfully to the actors and actresses involved.

Since we didn't get the answer here, I think we have to stick with what previous documentaries have said: Felice was the "first let go", and either Molly or Julie Anne was "the last to face expulsion".

Sitcommania 03-14-2020, 06:35 AM I think Molly was the last and that she was going to stay until the network requested a brand new character. I got the feeling Eve Brandstein even discussed that when she told the story about seeing her in the executive’s office, but for some reason, it was edited out. I’m not sure, but it felt like there might have been more. Also, why would she have been at the office, when apparently the other just got calls?
They also didn’t explain that Jo was request from NBC, not a full creation by the new writers.

That's a good point. Maybe she went to the production office to fight for her job, was given assurances that she could still have a part, and then got the script to TNG 2, which only gave her eight lines, and which became, in her words, her "worst job ever."

Interesting tidbit about Geri going rogue and stepping away from her scripted lines and exploding at Lisa. Lisa looked shocked. I guess the writers and producers must have thought it was a more natural reaction than the original scripted version. However, Geri would never return to the FOL after this.
Wished they did mentioned the Lost Girls did make appearances after season 1.

I'd enjoy that. But I'd also enjoy a book by Molly Ringwald, about her time on the show. It would definitely beat the terrible book she wrote, called "Getting the Pretty Back". That was awful.

No. That goes unmentioned. Which was a liiiittle disappointing, but still not bad, considering all of the perspectives they were covering. Any more discussion of the changes between s1/2, and they would have had almost no time to discuss the rest of the show.

They could have been, but it wasn't included. Julie Pie was at Charlotte's funeral and appeared with Charlotte at Kim's DWTS appearance.

Yes, I have a feeling that maybe Julie Pie was too emotional for them to include it. But whether or not that was the reason, they only had two hours, so they didn't go into everyone's emotions on the loss of Charlotte.
I do think it was nice that Julie Anne had a bit more to say on this documentary -- more, even, than Julie Pie or Felice. She wasn't interviewed for The Truth Behind the Sitcoms (Julie Pie and Felice were), she wasn't interviewed for the E! True Hollywood Story (Julie Pie and Felice were), she wasn't interviewed for the Oral History (that was Julie Pie), she wasn't interviewed for WWHL (that was Molly), she wasn't interviewed for Hallmark (that was Molly), she wasn't interviewed at Disney (that was Julie Pie), she wasn't interviewed at PaleyFest (that was Felice).
The only interviews she did were the 1982 Child Stars one, and the 2006 DVD releases. So it kinda felt like Julie Anne's moment to shine.

Felice was at Paleyfest for Facts of Life?
RetroGuy2000 03-27-2020, 01:33 PM Felice was at Paleyfest for Facts of Life?
This is a bit controversial. I've never seen any of the footage, but she is credited as appearing in the long version of the PaleyFest video (which is, like, 5 hours long). I don't know if she was there, or they played a clip of her (and thus had to credit her), or what. All I know is she is credited as appearing.

No, I was tuning into the documentary. I popped corn and everything!
(I really did! And I love getting to authentically use that Tootie quote from season 4!)
'80sSitcoms 03-29-2020, 12:39 AM So: It was good. :-) lol Unfortunately my expectations were too high from reactions I was seeing on the first page of this thread, and I'd unfortunately seen a few unmarked spoilers there and in a couple of other threads around here (I was beginning to wonder if I'd have to leave the board until I finally saw it! lol), so it couldn't live up to what I'd thought. Also, I couldn't watch it on a TV, but had to settle for watching it on my computer, so that really changed the experience for me (I hate "watching TV" on my computer. I wanna watch TV on my TV, on the bigger TV screen while I'm relaxed on my couch also surprised they didn't cover the movies! Especially Paris, since it was the kickoff to season 4, earlier in the show's run.
That said, I LOVED seeing some great never-before-seen (by the public) behind-the-scenes photos. Retro has long been asking, "Who was Molly close to on the set???" Well, in one photo she's cutely giving Lisa rabbit ears! I love that! That leads me to interpret it as Molly saw Lisa (and maybe Felice and Julie) as a "big sis" type on the set. :-)
I also LOVED seeing Molly wearing a vintage NBC peacock shirt!
Julie Anne Haddock Becker How Many More Names Can I Include For This Documentary!
It was funny seeing her use all four of her names, lol. And it was so great seeing her have a good amount to say!
She was supposed to be a country bumpkin in TGS?? WOW! They say the show "didn't go in that direction", but there was oddly no mention at all of Jennifer or Laura (or fan favorite Leon ).
And while I appreciated Eve detailing Cindy's character, she nor Julie Anne ever brought up Cindy's most identifying characteristic---that she was a tomboy! But it's neat to think of her "sweet, willowy gentle insecurity" next time I watch season 1.
And Julie Anne, nooooooo...when was the last time you watched RH?? You didn't say "I love you" to Blair, it was to Sue Ann! :o
No one also ever mentioned Molly was the activist/feminist of the group; they just said she was "the fast-talking one". She only talked fast a few times s while many more of her lines were about her activistm/feminism.
And Molly may have been onto something saying "They replaced me with Nancy McKeon"---for in that 2000 interview, Nancy had red hair---like Molly!
I also liked how Eve said that when they lost Molly and she went to the movies, they actually lost the best girl they had (that's much classier than that Warren can't-do-math guy).
Felice is a funny gal! It was so funny in the Russian story hearing her say how she learned how to say "I love you I want you!" in Russian to say to him, lol, and when someone gave her a sweater he left behind SHE TOOK IT HOME AND SLEPT WITH IT THAT NIGHT!! I love that!! (but funny they went to the trouble to write Mr. Russian into a script, but they didn't connect him with Nancy---it was all Blair. She didn't even say "Here we go, Nancy").
I did almost laugh when Felice said "my character's development"---I was like, there was no development, lol. Just the phone as her "acting partner", lol.
Sue Ann smoked tea! And she WAS kinda perturbed at being cut from the show. I mean, not heartbroken like poor little Molly, but for some reason it was just refreshing to hear Julie say that she was bothered a bit by it. I mean, like, she says, she was one of the lead girls in several episodes. You'd (and she!) think she would've stayed.
And Julie smacked Lisa's face in the rice pudding without telling her first! I love that too!! And props to Lisa for staying in character!! props:
Interesting to hear that some of the girls were uncomfortable with those ultra-short "kiddie porn" shorts (Margie should trademark that phrase for those shorts, lol).
I can't believe they didn't talk about the season 1 girls coming back for sporadic episodes in the cafeteria years! That was a GLARING omission since so much time was devoted to those very girls in the first season.
First I felt we should feel cheated that we didn't get 8 more season 2 episodes due to the actor strike, but I felt a lot better about it when Margie said that was actually a blessing because it let them really get into the characters of the show and work with the writers, and they got to explore so much. So I'm good with that now, lol.
And it was Margie who got rid of Tootie's catchphrase! Interesting! But just because it would stereotype naivete?? Really??
Jim Colucci! He's written a couple of books on "The Golden Girls". Interestingly, he says in one of those books "it's unclear whether FOL should be credited" for the "rule of four" on TV, because it wasn't a show with only 4 stars. He seems to have changed his tune by now claiming FOL should be credited (but still, it shouldn't be 100%, technically).
I was offended though when he called the theme song lyrics "cheesey" and "dumb". I don't think he meant it in a cutting way, but still.
So great seeing Charlotte in an '84 interview! I wonder what that was...
Poor John, getting cut from the show. Darkly funny how his agent just said, "You're free". John: " 'You're free'? What does that mean?" "You're not on FOL anymore." "Then I don't wanna be 'free'!" lol
Jenny O'Hara looks so good!! She should still be acting! It's sad to hear that she decided to walk away from the show, and too bad that there was a little chill (no pun intended) from Charlotte. I've always lamented how when Miss Mahoney leaves, Mrs. Garrett has no adult female confidant.
And I know people have often accused Mindy of "laughing at her own jokes" during taping, but I never got that vibe. What I got was Mindy was playing Natalie as being the class clown, and therefore entertained by her own humor. It's so nice to hear that's how it sometimes was, and that it was actually written into the scripts for her to do that.
Wow I had no idea Geri's explosion at Blair wasn't scripted! I love that, and that Lisa's reaction is genuine "surprised Lisa", not Blair, lol. How ironic though Asaad talked about how powerful that was and the development of her character and what she could do---but that was her last show!
I loved that JAH had a big laugh when she saw Cindy became a supermodel! lol, that was cute. And I had no idea the ratings for that episode "spiked" that week! Wow, interesting...and although Jim Colucci credits those characters being such a part of fans that they had remembered from several years ago in 1 season, I think a of the credit should go to the "fact" the show was in syndication. So new fans were constantly meeting them, and old fans were seeing them again and again.
It was also a slap of reality that people see these Lost Girls IN REAL LIFE. When JAH talked about being recognized sometimes on the streets, I was like, oh man, those lucky people seeing them in real life! lol
I HATE though that the host of the show called Tootie's hysteria a "temper tantrum". People kept calling it that here 20 years ago and I kept having to correct them, and it was tiring. Now it's mislabeled a TT in a docuementary. Thanks, Reelz.
Also--we weren't in this documentary!! Didn't they go online and see the biggest most active FOL community anywhere has always been right here?? Where's the love for us??
"Jo" was "Foxy"?!?? Please no, not another "-ee" name!
'80sSitcoms 03-29-2020, 12:40 AM Wow hearing Charlotte kept in touch with JAH was vey sweet
I don't thnk that's what happened? What I got it from it was JAH meant Charlotte would always check in with her during season 1, not after the series.
'80sSitcoms 03-29-2020, 12:47 AM Also, I want to hug Asaad Kelada. He is, like, the most grandfathery grandfather ever. :bighug:
'80sSitcoms 03-29-2020, 12:51 AM SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
Well, in Charlotte's defense, it seems like the more prominent aspect was Jenny's unhappiness with the character and how she was written, and the Charlotte chill was just a part of the environment (but not why she left).
'80sSitcoms 03-29-2020, 01:05 AM I think they did that with each girl, so it's cool that Jenny got the same opportunity.
Hmm, I'd be curious to see if that's really what they did with each girl.
'80sSitcoms 03-29-2020, 01:09 AM Charlotte Rae...asked the producers to have Mrs. Garrett get angry. I think Molly was the first one to really got yelled at by Mrs. Garrett in Molly's Holiday.
You think wrong. Obviously you have not seen "Running".
(kidding in my tone, of course. lol)
'80sSitcoms 03-29-2020, 01:13 AM So if Julie Ann Haddock was originally going to auditioned for a country bumpkin which probably was the Sue Ann character.
They probably didn’t give the characters names yet when they auditioned since it was so disorganized, but it does sound like Sue Ann.
JAH says they did not write the country bumpkin character. If that's true, the character never even appeared on screen. It sounds like if the character had been on the screen, it would have been only played by JAH, since that's who she says she was going to play.
Sue Ann was probably just "the naive one" for TGS.
You guys are trying to answer an unanswered question, but I'm not committing. ;)

'80sSitcoms 03-29-2020, 01:34 AM Was there a part where the lost girls talked about returning to the 2nd season part time?
No. That goes unmentioned. Which was a liiiittle disappointing, but still not bad, considering all of the perspectives they were covering.
It's very disappointing. And it is bad. And I will tell the producers so myself, lol. It was so organic to the show! A bridge between the dorm year and the cafeteria years.
Any more discussion of the changes between s1/2, and they would have had almost no time to discuss the rest of the show.
BUT THAT IS WHAT WE WAAAAAAANNNNNTTTTT lol.
'80sSitcoms 03-29-2020, 01:38 AM Did the DVD keep the rogue scene in?
Yes, it did. I specifically remember being  by that myself when I was watching it---and that was on a TV! I can only imagine the energy of that explosive moment on the actual set.
'80sSitcoms 03-29-2020, 01:42 AM And Mackenzie Astin was never even supposed to be on the show!
Wow...makes me wonder if there was any plan for an "Andy" before him, or if that all just "happened"?
'80sSitcoms 03-29-2020, 01:53 AM Oh, and I LOVE that Molly Ringwald was a peripheral participant in this documentary with that pop-up ad for the "BCD: The Breakfast Club" that kept popping up throughout the entire installment :D but I didn't like seeing "Autopsy: Dana Plato" advertised. I mean yes it's related, but just :(.

"Finished it"? I was waiting until he had the whole uploaded before I'd even start it! THANK YOU RETROOOOOOO!!! props:
There's no way I could watch a "part" of something like this and then have to wait around for more...and more...and more. I'm not criticizing Retro because I know he was frustrated himself at trying to get it all done with uncooperative equipment, I just couldn't stand seeing "part" of this and not getting to see it ALL at once!

Hmm, I dunno...you could be right. But then again I could be too, lol. :p
Yeah idk why they dont bring that up, would love to hear how it was when the lost girls got back on set, if things were still similar, how the OG three reacted to having their old pals back, etc.
Yeah, I still can't believe they didn't go into that at all. How could they bring up TLC and how fans loved them and they were brought back, but not discuss coming back for several episodes in the seasons after season 1? Especially "Gossip".
'80sSitcoms 03-29-2020, 02:32 AM Jenny O'Hara's character added nothing to the show
Oh, but she did. One of her most important functions on the show was a fellow adult female for Mrs. Garrett to converse with and/or confide in. Once Miss Mahoney was gone, Mrs. Garrett never had that. :(
I also liked her interactions with the girls and with Mr. Bradley. :)
'80sSitcoms 03-29-2020, 02:36 AM Nice to hear your voice Retro!

80s Dude 03-29-2020, 07:50 AM We also found out Charlotte came to a point of wondering whether she could continue in the series during the first season when he had a heart to heart talk with Mr. Bradley in the stable. I can't remember if she broke down crying. Perhaps she couldn't handle 7 or a dozen girls. Especially she never had any daughters.
'80sSitcoms 03-29-2020, 12:44 PM And Retro, I don't think we actually found out where the character of Cindy came from. :( We found out how Julie Anne came to fill the part, but I don't recall hearing anything about how Cindy was conceptualized or created or why she was added to the roster. So we still have that unanswered question.
Not even any mention of Jennifer from the pilot that was dropped, hmmm...

Maybe they created Cindy after they saw that Julie Ann was an athletic tomboy so let's create one for the show.

I don't believe for one minute that CHARLOTTE RAE couldn't handle 7 girls: (to me she looked like she'd even be able to handle a terrorist lol) she had two sons in real life, so surely she could deal with a bunch of teenage girls!:lol::lol:
RetroGuy2000 03-29-2020, 03:19 PM So much season 1 love! That's so great! :loveya:
Indeed it was. About 50% of the documentary was Season 1, with Seasons 2 through 9 sort of smashed together at the end. That was a daring and interesting way to do it!
But I wish Molly had been taken part. It's time!! lol
Yeah, that would have been so cool. But at least we've finally, finally, finally heard from her about her time on FOL.

Yeah. Now, do you think they were referring to Sue Ann, or just a character who never made it on-screen?
And while I appreciated Eve detailing Cindy's character, she nor Julie Anne ever brought up Cindy's most identifying characteristic---that she was a tomboy! But it's neat to think of her "sweet, willowy gentle insecurity" next time I watch season 1.
Yes! :)
And Julie Anne, nooooooo...when was the last time you watched RH?? You didn't say "I love you" to Blair, it was to Sue Ann! :o
Exactly! WE know! Why doesn't Julie Anne? It was only HER line, 40 years ago! ;)
RetroGuy2000 03-29-2020, 03:31 PM No one also ever mentioned Molly was the activist/feminist of the group; they just said she was "the fast-talking one". She only talked fast a few times s while many more of her lines were about her activistm/feminism.
I think it's very cool that they brought up a lesser-known aspect of Molly's character; it would be so easy to pigeon-hole these girls into "jock, activist, country bumpkin, on-the-phone-girl". Much better, IMO, that they discussed more aspects of those characters. They weren't one-note, and it's important that the documentary cover that.
Oh yes. Eve is a Class Act!
The Baryshnikov story is hilarious!
And it's a shame, again, that the writers focused on Blair. But at least Nancy was in the scene.
I did almost laugh when Felice said "my character's development"---I was like, there was no development, lol. Just the phone as her "acting partner", lol.
I see some development. After all, she did get an invisible boyfriend, and she decided to become a shrink to the stars (in footage usually left on the cutting room floor).
One of the best parts of Felice's interview was her talking about not being "all-American" enough for DS, with "AA" meaning blonde-haired, blue-eyed. She still seemed a little ticked!

FELICE still looked very American to me: it's not like we're in SWEDEN where you practically get blondes in every corner!:lol::lol:
RetroGuy2000 03-29-2020, 03:40 PM Sue Ann smoked tea!
I agree that it was nice to see Julie say it did bother her. Of course, she has mentioned, at least since the Oral History, that she was surprised that her character exited, considering the number of episodes she was in.
And Julie smacked Lisa's face in the rice pudding without telling her first! I love that too!! And props to Lisa for staying in character!! props:
Yeah, it really made for a GREAT spontaneous reaction.
Interesting to hear that some of the girls were uncomfortable with those ultra-short "kiddie porn" shorts (Margie should trademark that phrase for those shorts, lol).
:lol::lol::lol::lol:
I can't believe they didn't talk about the season 1 girls coming back for sporadic episodes in the cafeteria years! That was a GLARING omission since so much time was devoted to those very girls in the first season.
yeah, a glaring omission. That would have helped fill out Season Two.
Yeah, she does make it sound as though it was a blessing in disguise.
And it was Margie who got rid of Tootie's catchphrase! Interesting! But just because it would stereotype naivete?? Really??
I think Margie thought it was stereotypical because Tootie would have to say it with big round eyes, but I'm just not convinced.
Yeah, I didn't care for that either.
So great seeing Charlotte in an '84 interview! I wonder what that was...
No idea.
Poor John, getting cut from the show. Darkly funny how his agent just said, "You're free". John: " 'You're free'? What does that mean?" "You're not on FOL anymore." "Then I don't wanna be 'free'!" lol
Yeah, he made me laugh, there, in a sad way.
RetroGuy2000 03-29-2020, 03:51 PM Jenny O'Hara looks so good!! She should still be acting! It's sad to hear that she decided to walk away from the show, and too bad that there was a little chill (no pun intended) from Charlotte. I've always lamented how when Miss Mahoney leaves, Mrs. Garrett has no adult female confidant.
Yeah, it would have been cool if they could have put their differences behind them, for the sake of the show, but I guess it wouldn't have been likely that she would have kept her job past the first season anyway, considering the then-upcoming Cast Purge.
Yeah, Natalie was the cut-up. It seems like many of the times Mindy's been accused of laughing at her own jokes, it was fine for Natalie to laugh, because it was Natalie's joke.
Wow I had no idea Geri's explosion at Blair wasn't scripted! I love that, and that Lisa's reaction is genuine "surprised Lisa", not Blair, lol. How ironic though Asaad talked about how powerful that was and the development of her character and what she could do---but that was her last show!
Yeah, really unfortunate, too.
You raise a GREAT point about syndication causing viewers to wonder what happened to the Lost Girls.
Yeah, it was cool learning that there had been a ratings spike for TLC. Not that I'm surprised it happened; I'm just surprised it was discussed. VERY cool!
It was also a slap of reality that people see these Lost Girls IN REAL LIFE. When JAH talked about being recognized sometimes on the streets, I was like, oh man, those lucky people seeing them in real life! lol
Imagine getting a coffee at Starbucks in Los Angeles and seeing Julie Anne there!
"Jo" was "Foxy"?!?? Please no, not another "-ee" name!
This has been known for many years. I've even discussed it here. Jo was definitely a better name. We didn't need Foxy to Fonzie things up any more than they already were.
RetroGuy2000 03-29-2020, 03:52 PM FELICE still looked very American to me: it's not like we're in SWEDEN where you practically get blondes in every corner!:lol::lol:
Very true. Felice certainly looked American. But did she look All-American? ;)
RetroGuy2000 03-29-2020, 03:59 PM And Retro, I don't think we actually found out where the character of Cindy came from. :( We found out how Julie Anne came to fill the part, but I don't recall hearing anything about how Cindy was conceptualized or created or why she was added to the roster. So we still have that unanswered question.
What do you mean? We didn't get that for any of the characters, other than Jo.
They liked Julie Anne, she didn't work out for the "bumpkin" role, then they wisely realized they needed more contrast for Blair, and the day production started, they called Julie Anne in to offer her a job, and she was in by noon.
Not even any mention of Jennifer from the pilot that was dropped, hmmm...
What could they say? "We had a girl named Jennifer, but she wasn't that interesting, so we recast?"
valentina warner 03-29-2020, 04:24 PM
Very true. Felice certainly looked American. But did she look All-American? ;)
Yes, i see what you mean by 'All American girl': kind of like the typical Californian blond blue eyed girl from 'SWEET VALLEY HIGH'!:lol::lol::lol:
'80sSitcoms 03-29-2020, 04:28 PM One of the best parts of Felice's interview was her talking about not being "all-American" enough for DS, with "AA" meaning blonde-haired, blue-eyed. She still seemed a little ticked!
Haha, yes, I loved that!
Of course, she has mentioned, at least since the Oral History, that she was surprised that her character exited, considering the number of episodes she was in.
That's interesting because you referenced in another post how she was in several documentaries, but I don't remember seeing her in any before this one. Of course, it's been years since I've seen most of 'em.
Oh, and another Margie note about the kiddie porn shorts: I still kinda get where she's coming from with that, but, this is the 2nd documentary where she has said, "This is in Peekskill, New York in the middle of winter." FOL season 1 was never broadcast in winter. It was only summertime August/September and then spring in March (well, at least almost spring, anyway). Retro you like to say she lost her marbles, so that's one she lost, lol.
And yes, John made me "laugh in a sad way" there too!
Yeah, it would have been cool if they could have put their differences behind them, for the sake of the show
It sounded like Jenny did, and any discomfort was strictly from Charlotte. It sounds kinda like the Mary Tyler Moore/Rose Marie relationship, only lighter.
Imagine getting a coffee at Starbucks in Los Angeles and seeing Julie Anne there!
Well, I would never "get a coffee", since I don't do coffee, but I would get hot chocolate, lol. :) And OMG I would totaly fanboy out on her way---but in a respectable way!
And then I would run to my computer and be trembling while typing to you guys about it.
This has been known for many years. I've even discussed it here.
I didn't remember, so it obviously makes a bigger impact when you're watching/hearing people discuss it with their faces and voices. Now I'll definitely remember! lol
Jo was definitely a better name. We didn't need Foxy to Fonzie things up any more than they already were.
"Foxy/Fonzie"! OMG no!
What do you mean? We didn't get that for any of the characters, other than Jo.
I mean I was responding to the text part at the end of your reaction video. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought you said something akin to, "We FINALLY learn where the character of Cindy Webster came from." And then thinking about that in the shower, I realized that I didn't think we did.
What could they say? "We had a girl named Jennifer, but she wasn't that interesting, so we recast?"
Exactly! Anything! But hopefully, more like, "We realized at the last minute that the Jennifer character wasn't going to go anywhere. She had no 'hook', no true character. So the writer of the first episode suggested a tomboy type to clash with the ultra-feminine Blair, we loved it, and we hurried and got Julie Anne immediately."
RetroGuy2000 03-29-2020, 04:54 PM Haha, yes, I loved that!
Yeah, it was kinda nice seeing some sassiness from Felice. Not All-American enough? Really?
That's interesting because you referenced in another post how she was in several documentaries, but I don't remember seeing her in any before this one. Of course, it's been years since I've seen most of 'em.
Yes, Julie Pie is in The Truth Behind the Sitcoms, as well as the E! True Hollywood Story, and Biography's FOL documentary. She's also done a lot of video interviews.
Oh, and another Margie note about the kiddie porn shorts: I still kinda get where she's coming from with that, but, this is the 2nd documentary where she has said, "This is in Peekskill, New York in the middle of winter." Yes. Fall, Spring, and Summer.
And WTF was she going on about Bolero shirts for?!
It sounded like Jenny did, and any discomfort was strictly from Charlotte. It sounds kinda like the Mary Tyler Moore/Rose Marie relationship, only lighter.
I don't know, but the "turf war", as Jenny called it, is very sad.
Well, I would never "get a coffee", since I don't do coffee, but I would get hot chocolate, lol. :) And OMG I would totaly fanboy out on her way---but in a respectable way!
You and me both!

Oh, yeah, in that sense, sure. I just meant that we didn't see Cindy in the backdoor pilot, and then suddenly she was in the first episode. And we got an explanation: Julie Anne wasn't cast due to her not working out as a "country bumpkin", but then they brought her back as a new character: Cindy!
Exactly! Anything! But hopefully, more like, "We realized at the last minute that the Jennifer character wasn't going to go anywhere. She had no 'hook', no true character. Guess we'll have to wait for that documentary!
For me, the only really disappointing thing is they didn't spell Schachter right.
BTW, this was SOOOOOO much better than two out of three Reelz documentaries that just aired, on the subject of Diff'rent Strokes. Two of them were awful, and one was pretty good. But this... this was 100 times better than even the best DS documentary.
RetroGuy2000 03-29-2020, 04:55 PM Yes, i see what you mean by 'All American girl': kind of like the typical Californian blond blue eyed girl from 'SWEET VALLEY HIGH'!:lol::lol::lol:
Oh, not ME! Just the producers of DS!:lol::lol::lol:
80s Dude 03-29-2020, 04:57 PM I think the fast talking part of Molly was Molly Ringwald's personal habbit. She slowed down as season 1 went along and she tried to correct it.
'80sSitcoms 03-29-2020, 05:06 PM Yeah, it was kinda nice seeing some sassiness from Felice. Not All-American enough? Really?
Well, I can see if they said "We're really looking for a blond girl to contrast with the dark-haired boys", but that's not what they said. But if they didn't think she was [40-year bitter Felice air quotes]"ALL-AMERICAN enough"[end 40-year bitter Felice air quotes] why the "h" did they even hire her in the first place?? lol
Also, that was new info to me about whatever show that didn't work out, and then came the DS thing or something? It sounded more convoluted than what we knew, lol.
Which reminds me, I didn't know about a pilot Nancy M. had done that didn't go anywhere, but apparently caught the eye of producers? What happened to the Hallmark tearful commercial? lol
I don't know, but the "turf war", as Jenny called it, is very sad.
See, I don't think it's that sad, because I don't think---from what I recall her saying---it actually came to "being" a turf war or territorial. I think she just sensed that from Charlotte and she just kept her distance about it. That's the impression I got, anyway. (although, yeah, it's a little shame Charlotte apparently felt a little guarded in that respect).
Julie Anne wasn't cast due to her not working out as a "country bumpkin", but then they brought her back as a new character: Cindy!
Hey hey hey! What's this "Julie Anne not working out" stuff?? My Julie Anne can work out anything! They just chose not to do that character. ;) (lol :p )
 Guess we'll have to wait for that documentary!
Yes! With any luck we'll get a 50-year documentary!! :woohoo:
For me, the only really disappointing thing is they didn't spell Schachter right.
That's what bothered you?? For me one of the biggest disappointments (of which there were several) was no talk about their recurring appearances in the cafeteria seasons. I still can't believe that! [sigh]...oh well...gotta wait for that 50-year documentary!
BTW, this was SOOOOOO much better than two out of three Reelz documentaries that just aired, on the subject of Diff'rent Strokes. Two of them were awful, and one was pretty good. But this... this was 100 times better than even the best DS documentary.

'80sSitcoms 03-29-2020, 05:09 PM I think the fast talking part of Molly was Molly Ringwald's personal habbit. She slowed down as season 1 went along and she tried to correct it.
No, that was scripted. You can see in TGS Mrs. Garrett is overwhelmed by Molly's characteristic of talking rapidly. They didn't write that for her a lot, but they did in "Molly's Holiday" and I think one other episode.
RetroGuy2000 03-29-2020, 05:23 PM Well, I can see if they said "We're really looking for a blond girl to contrast with the dark-haired boys", but that's not what they said. I'm laughing out loud about the "40-year-bitter Felice air quotes".
I guess the producers hired Felice, and then someone up the chain (probably an NBC exec) saw Dana's spun-golden hair, instantly enchanting him with her golden, all-American looks, compared her to the already cast Felice, with her non-American raven hair and obvious Slavic or Estonian background and insisted on recasting.

Yeah, it's odd that Felice seemingly didn't mention it, considering she had one of her biggest FOL roles in her recurring era. But, yes, "Schacter" bugged me.
They had 3 on DS?? Holy cow.
Well, one was the Celebrity Autopsy of Dana Plato, one was the "CA" on Gary Coleman, and one was a general documentary on DS. The CAs were horrible. Bad reenactments, bad premise, bad, bad, bad.

I felt she was talking about that in her own thoughts, like something she longed for, but didn't act on. Because she says up front "But that was Charlotte's place, as it should be" (not exact, but basically). I'd need to watch it again to see if I would now find it different or remain the same---there was so much to take in from 90 minutes!! lol
But, yes, "Schacter" bugged me.
I guess after the input-er coded in "JULIE ANNE HADDOCK BECKER DO I HAVE ALL OF THOSE NAMES IN AND ARE THEY ALL SPELLED RIGHT AND IN ORDER" that he was too exhausted to double-check Felice's name. ;)

Oh, I was just kidding. I have no idea what her ethnic background is. Wiki says the last name Schachter or Schechter is German or Jewish. I just thought it was crazy that Felice would be given the explanation that she wasn't "All-American" enough. As if there's a specific "American" look, and Felice failed to look the part.
But clearly, she walked up to the producers and said, "I get role, da? I have part as Keemberlee? Ya tebya lyublyu!" And the producers were like, "We need an American girl in this role. Stick her in the background of the spin-off, but don't let her speak."

There was a woman (don't remember who she was) that was taking about George Clooney being on E/R (the sitcom, not the drama) and that she got him on Double Trouble after the E/R sitcom was canceled. I thought that was interesting because George Clooney never appeared in Double Trouble. If there were ever any episodes that he was supposed to be in they never aired. I guess that makes sense since Double Trouble was canceled only a month after E/R was.

That was casting director Eve Brandstein. I guess she misremembered, or maybe, as you say, he was in an episode that didn't air due to cancellation.

I totally agree with Felice. What they said, all things considered, is pretty ironic, don't you think? They pass on Felice, saying she's not "wholesome enough", and instead hire... Dana Plato, who was soon robbing video stores, getting pregnant, introducing Todd to pot, snorting coke, posing for playboy, doing soft-core porn, and eventually died of an overdose, with three different drugs in her system.
(What happened with Dana is tragic).
RetroGuy2000 03-29-2020, 10:27 PM What kind of language is that?
"That's Russian, you Neanderthal!" (™ Blair)
Felice teaches us this phrase in this documentary, linked on the first page. Did you get a chance to watch it, Valentina?

NEANDERTHAL: ha ha ha! (i forgot that's how BLAIR used to call JO in the earlier episodes):lol::lol:
PS: nope, i haven't watch it yet, but i will soon, promise;)

That's even more hilarious because her question was totally innocent!

She does? She didn't teach me! She just said and didn't stop to spell it out! lol

I know! But I couldn't resist quoting Blair, there. I'm glad Valentina got the joke.
She does? She didn't teach me! She just said and didn't stop to spell it out! lol
Well, now you know. And should we ever meet Felice, and she says that, we will now know what it means.
(...And we'll say, "Boy, are you "strange""! )

By the way, I just watched that Jenny O'Hara part again, and with an open mind. I was curious to see if I still felt the same or if I'd see it how you did. And honestly, with Julie Pie's comments, that kind of "muddles it" a bit for me (like, how much did Julie Pie see at the time in the writers' room? How much did she witness at 16 years old? etc.). But watching it with an open mind, while I still lean toward how I first felt, I can see how there can be different interpretations to it.

Oh, I agree that there are different ways their comments can be taken, no doubt.
And I SOOOO appreciate your comments in this thread. I was worried I'd go to all the work of uploading the video files, and there would only be a few comments, like some of the script uploads. I'm glad that didn't happen, and we've had a very robust discussion, here. :)

Oh, I think this was too much of an "event" to generate only a few comments.
And thank you again---I'm was excited to FINALLY be able to watch it all and take part here!
And it's been AGES since I've been to a meeting of "The Group". I need to practice my secret knock to get back in and see some scripts!
(and if I end up running out of work soon, that will definitely free me up some time to read some original FOL scripts!)

Oh, no need to thank me. I'm just glad to be able to chatter excitedly with you guys about one of my favorite shows. Now we finally know why Cindy wasn't in "The Girls' School"! Now we finally know why Jenny O'Hara vanished without a trace! Now we finally know there was a ratings spike for "The Little Chill"! Now we finally know that Denny's on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood was the place to be in 1979-1980!

Hi, Retro! I didn't post anything because I was waiting for the full version uploaded. I still have to watch it but I'll write my considerations as soon as I can:wave:

You guys, are you forgetting "Emily Dickinson"??
"Tootie kept a secret? There is a God!"
And Blair's mom in season 2. So see, she's not always the leaky tire. ;)

In ED, she only kept the secret because she was blackmailing Blair. If Blair hadn't starched her sheets, Tootie would have squealed like Cindy's pig. pig:pig:pig:pig:

 Yes, that's really him. Many guys' hair grows darker as they mature. He is definitely starting to resemble his father, John Astin.

Yeah, but do many guys' faces COMPLETELY CHANGE INTO SOMEONE ELSE'S??? At least with the Eastland girls, we still know they're our girls!

Then it's about time! Who was that pod person they had as him on FOL??

I think that's true as well. My sisters just look like older versions of their girl-selves.

Impressions 03-31-2020, 04:31 PM I really enjoyed this documentary. I DVR'd it on SlingTV, since I don't have cable. Then I watched it twice since it was so well done and wanted to watch for any new nuggets of information. Reelz does a real good job of celebrity documentaries. I find myself watching this channel a lot. So much more so than any other network or studio.
I loved how they brought on the first season girls as well as John Lawler and Jenny O'Hara to give their perspective.
It was super refreshing to hear Jenny's rift with Charlotte Rae and why she left. I was really taken aback when she implied that Charlotte Rae was cold, because it's not something we really associate with her. To be honest, I was with her about her character though, the character really wasn't headed in a good direction, so I'm glad she stood her ground when the show failed to gave her character any gravitas, because I think that character would've been axed after season 1 anyway.
Then I loved how Julie Piekarski "spilled the tea" about the Dope episode . I honestly thought it was real pot the first time I watched this episode, but then I thought, NBC wouldn't really let children illegally smoke pot on a TV show, would they? Anyway, it was fun to hear about that.
I also would have loved to see Molly Ringwald speak about the first season girls departure, but I understand that might open a old wound for her, and would be hard for the Reelz channel to get her to sit down and talk openly about.
The only thing this documentary missed were interviews from "the four musketeers" and some other minor characters from the show's later years. I would have liked to hear from Nancy McKeon more so than anyone because she's rarely interviewed about her time on the show. I would have really liked to hear more about her pay dispute, which I heard happened late in the series and why, in her own words, she wasn't involved with the reunion movie (the reunion movie wasn't even mentioned in this documentary :o). I would have also loved to hear from Cloris Leachman and some of the minor characters that we haven't heard from in a long time including, Sherrie Krenn, Pamela Aldon, and Ryan Cassidy. I think they could've dug up some new nuggets of information and possibly some drama that we may not have heard about. But I understand that there's only so much you can fit into 2 hours (but hey, I would still watch a 4 hour documentary or mini series on this show).
P.S. I would suggest to remove the Google Drive links in this topic, which has the full documentary, so no one gets in trouble and this topic doesn't get closed down for having access to copyrighted material. I don't think it's covered under fair use.
