Born, who died Tuesday of unknown causes, was a veteran of numerous soaps over more than three decades, including Santa Barbara, Ryan's Hope, All My Children, Passions, Days Of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless and, until his retirement in 2012, One Life to Live. "It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of Roscoe Born’s passing. He was an incredibly talented actor and songwriter," Born's business partner, Deanna Lynne, wrote on Facebook. "Many who knew him know how dedicated he was to social and political causes. He will be missed forever.”

“Roscoe has long struggled with bipolar disorder, a shadow that he succumbed to when he took his own life on Tuesday March 3, 2020,” his family wrote on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/bornroscoesongs/). “We are grateful for the outpouring of kind words and memories. We only wish that Roscoe could have seen how much people still carry his daytime villains in their hearts. May his death remind us of the importance of opening up conversations around mental illness. May those who need help seek it. May those who seek help receive it. And may it serve them.”
