As well-made a show as LITB is, I wonder why they never decided to put some peas cooking into one of those pans. Or if they had no real source of heat, just dump a can of peas in the pan and start that fake sizzling sound effect.

Every time they have a cooking scene it's obviously faked.

I thought of this while watching Father Knows Best, which had a real, working kitchen. And you frequently see them making real food.

I thought that looked pretty real. I think we still have the same frying pan.

I have heard that meals are a hard thing to shoot and can take hours and the food gets to the point it is not safe to even pretend to take a bite.

Yep come to think of it I remember pancakes a few times. And there is definitely food in the dining room, at dinner.

I remember one episode where she was grinding hamburger.

I like how she’s at the stove especially in the old house stirring water in a sauce pan like in Beaver’s Newspaper when Larry doesn’t want broccoli. Often you see her pressure cooker with steam coming out but can’t see any food. There’s always a pan on the stove boiling over like when Ward is cooking peas. Don’t see any peas. Plenty of food on the plates, though.

Ward is brushing barbecue sauce on the steaks with the bottle cleaning brush. The steaks burn up anyway. I like when Aunt Martha serves eggplant and June says “oh eggplant?” Then later in The Shave June has fried eggplant and Wally hates it.

I don't remember that one, but in Beaver Won't Eat, Beaver goes to butter his bread at the restaurant, and Ward tells him to break his bread before buttering it. I'm a littler younger than Mathers, but I don't remember that being a rule of etiquette. If it was and if I violated it, my grandfather would have said, "That is considered detrop." I never knew what that exactly meant, but I figured it wasn't good.

I used to eat sardines when I was a kid. How I don’t know!! I bought some a few years ago to see if I could stomach them. Disgusting.

On Long Beach Island in N.J., on vacation, my dad would go and eat raw clams on the half shell. Turns my stomach just thinking about it.

Of course, in Maine and on Cape Cod, he'd go to a Clam Bah (they don't pronounce the r up there) and have them.

Being from Mass you’re right we don’t pronounce that ‘R.’ People around here love raw clams, raw oysters and mussels. Not me. I do love fried clams down the clam bah.

Hmmm--I don't remember going with him to a clam bah in Dennis Port, Cape Cod or Ogunquit, Maine. Maybe they don't eat 'em raw up there (a plus for them!)

When I was a kid, my cousin (actually my grandmother’s first cousin, so she was a lot older) told me the same thing. I’ve never forgotten it.
