You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have the hit show that became a staple of the '80s television line up. The Facts of Life was a female-centric spinoff of the popular show Diff'rent Strokes and its authentic stories, great characters and unforgettable theme song made The Facts of Life a culture touchstone and staple in living rooms across America for nine seasons. In The Facts of Life: Behind Closed Doors viewers get an inside look at the show that gave audiences a glimpse into the adolescent struggles and triumphs of boarding school girls all under the loving care of housemother Edna Garrett. Cast members Julie Haddock, Felice Schachter, Julie Piekarski along with creatives behind the series including the casting director, producers, writers and its longtime director share their stories from the set and recall how the early days of the series were tumultuous and success was by no means a given with an unwieldy initial cast and the tough decisions to whittle the cast down to the four who made the show a hit in Tootie, Blair, Natalie and Jo. The Facts of Life: Behind Closed Doors is produced by Peacock Productions. 80s Dude 03-02-2020, 06:03 PM Mr. Bradley and Geri Jewell appear as well. I never seen anything from the Core Four or later seasons cast members that they are on it. This is definitely something for First Season fans and fans of the Lost Girls. RetroGuy2000 03-02-2020, 06:14 PM Mr. Bradley and Geri Jewell appear as well. I never seen anything from the Core Four or later seasons cast members that they are on it. This is definitely something for First Season fans and fans of the Lost Girls. I look forward to seeing the Julies and Felice, and of course also seeing John Lawlor and Geri Jewel, recount their days on FOL. I think it's very likely we'll see some of the Core Four as well. Sad to see we won't be hearing from Molly, but I'm not surprised. Getting to see Julie Anne, Julie Pie, and Felice all at the same time is a rare treat: one we haven't seen since "The Little Chill". 80s Dude 03-02-2020, 06:21 PM I look forward to seeing the Julies and Felice, and of course also seeing John Lawlor and Geri Jewel, recount their days on FOL. TWO HOURS LONG! '80sSitcoms 03-02-2020, 06:35 PM It's less than aweek away?? WOO-HOO!! :woohoo: :D NOW WILL YOU GUYS PLEASE WATCH THIS TIME??? Over half the board missed the Charlotte Rae edition of "Collector's Call"! lol ;) Sad to see we won't be hearing from Molly, but I'm not surprised. Getting to see Julie Anne, Julie Pie, and Felice all at the same time is a rare treat: one we haven't seen since "The Little Chill". Oh, I look forward to Molly's part in this!! (I'm being optimistic ). And for me, it's the first time seeing the Julies and Felice "really" together since season 4! (since TLC is so "fish out of water" for me) RetroGuy2000 03-02-2020, 06:40 PM It's less than aweek away?? WOO-HOO!! :woohoo: :D NOW WILL YOU GUYS PLEASE WATCH THIS TIME??? Over half the board missed the Charlotte Rae edition of "Collector's Call"! lol ;) I actually just had to upgrade to a higher package, since my satellite provider doesn't have Reelz in its $59 per month package deal. '80sSitcoms 03-03-2020, 10:31 AM Well, I won't be able to see this after all as it is a pay channel. :( So I am counting on some of you guys here for some MAJORLY DETAILED recaps! And HOPEFULLY someone in America recording this will upload it to YouTube. One thing I would like to see the document review is something that some will consider blasphemy and she is no longer here to defend herself is, did Charlotte Rae (despite her prior denials) have any say as to who stayed and who went? No, she's already stated on camera she had no say in that (and she was VERY grateful about that). I believe Charlotte when she said "Thank GOD I didn't have to do that!" She was so emphatic about it. But she did select Nancy McKeon, so she did select one girl who was to appear. Once I upgraded to get Reelz Channel, I had access to MeTV again. Which means I'll likely eventually get to see the "Collector's Call" episode, when they inevitably air it again). I wanted to see Molly, Nancy, Cindy, and Sue Ann graduate alongside Natalie, Jo, and Blair. I wanted to see more of Mrs. Garrett's catering years. I didn't need to see random added characters like Kelly, Andy, Pippa, George, and Beverly Ann. The show was about a housemother and her girls. They killed that. Fine. A dietician and her girls. They killed that. A caterer and her girls. They killed that. A Spencers' rip-off store. They killed that. An Australian girl, the housemother's sister, and a random kid hang out with a few of the original characters in the place that was once a shop. I actually started to watch season 6, and find myself missing MRS G when she's not on some of the episodes: instead, ANDY has started making a few appearance with that other annoying blond guy called KEVIN and i hate them already! The only good thing in later years, is the closer bond between JO and BLAIR, but i surely would have love to see more interaction going between MRS G and 'her girls'. I missed the episode of Collector's Call and I talked with Charlotte's granddaughter via Instagram but she doesn't have a link or something I saw that episode, I thought it should have been a two parter or an hour show. I was sort of disappointed in it. Sitcommania 03-08-2020, 07:06 PM I actually don’t believe that Charlotte Rae had no say with releasing which actors. She had enough sway to bring on Mindy Cohn and Nancy McKeon. So how is it she didn’t know 3 or 4 actors were being let go? FOL-FAN-ITA 03-09-2020, 12:09 AM I saw that episode, I thought it should have been a two parter or an hour show. I was sort of disappointed in it. Really? I don't know, she was really disappointed (her words) when they fired John Lawlor and the four girls '80sSitcoms 03-09-2020, 10:26 AM I actually don’t believe that Charlotte Rae had no say with releasing which actors. She had enough sway to bring on Mindy Cohn and Nancy McKeon. So how is it she didn’t know 3 or 4 actors were being let go? In one of the documentaries she is clearly relieved when she says "Thank GOD I wasn't a part of that!" and something about she wouldn't have had any idea who she would choose to stay and who would leave. Mindy and Nancy are different. Mindy was before the show started, and she didn't bring her on herself; she thought Mindy would be a good idea, and the producers agreed and allowed it. And with Nancy, NBC saw her first and then I guess they asked Charlotte's opinion of what she thought of her, so they considered Charlotte's professional input on what she thought of NBC's choice. Sitcommania 03-09-2020, 12:44 PM I don’t mean she was happy to let the actors go, but she was the star of the show, and I think she had more input than she let on.
