Vergara is joining AGT as a judge on the heels of finishing her 11-season run on ABC's Modern Family. Klum, who served as an AGT judge from 2013 and 2018 and recently as a judge on America's Got Talent: The Champions, returns to AGT after one season off. Klum and Mel B exited AGT after the 2018 season and were replaced last season by Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough, who were fired amid controversy (https://www.primetimer.com/item/Gabrielle-Union-and-Julianne-Hough-are-out-at-Americas-Got-Talent-after-one-season-P8SP97) last November. “I’m so happy to join my new family on AGT," Vergara said in a statement. “This is a new and exciting next chapter for me and I’m extremely proud to be the first Latin judge on the show. I can’t wait to watch all the talent and have fun with all you guys!” Klum added in a statement: “I’m so excited to be back at AGT with Simon (Cowell), Howie (Mandel) and Terry (Crews). The fact that Sofia Vergara is joining us is the icing on an already delicious cake.”
