I was walking around the neighborhood and saw a dog whi was in this HOT HOT HOT California weather and he was in the middle of the street and he kept following me, very friendly dog. He looked like he was about to die so I ran back home to get some water for him and when I got back he was in somebodys driveway so I figure he belonged to them and then just now I went for some food and saw him at a different house. He got some water from me and I asked both the people if he belonged to them and they said no. I don't know who he is but whoever owns this beautiful purbred dog better thank me for saving there dogs life. I put him in our house in the bathroom untill this is steightend out I'm gonna have to go door to door. And if nobody owns him I'll report him to the pound, that's so sad. Why would anyone do that he almost got hit by a car. That's so wrong, this dog is a little puppy not even a year old I'll bet. :mad: :mad: :mad:

That's so sad. Do you ever watch Animal Precinct on the Animal Planet channel? There are all kinds of idiots on there who don't care for their animals properly. Having a pet is like having a kid. IF YOU CAN'T TAKE CARE OF EM, DON'T HAVE EM!

yeah I wish I could keep him but I can't he's not mine and that's how the law works. I'm going to make sure to complain if I find who owns this dog and if I don't I'm gonna have to sell him or give him away... If I ever see this puppy in the middle of the street again though, he's mine.

Maybe it wasn't the owner's fault. The dog could have ran away from home...

Sometimes it doesnt work, though. Like if you let go on accident of the leash and the dog runs, or digs out. But i feel sorry for the dog.

Animal abusers really make me sick. I have some neighbors next door that have numerous cats and dogs, and I think I feed them more than they do. Some of the cats they have are so scrawny, and I feed them if they are out on the porch. My neighbors had one of their cats declawed, but still let it outside. It lost one of its eyes in a fight with another cat. You would think that would teach them to keep the cat in the house right? Nope, they still let the cat out and it got run over. :( Some people just shouldn't have pets if they can't treat them right. I'm glad that LBF found the little dog and took care of him, since the owners didn't.

I'm gonna put signs up incase this puppy does have an owner, I really hope it was just an accident because if it wasn't I will report them. If it wasn't for me I know that that dog would have died from the heat or hit by a car.

I think you are a very good person for helping that dog. I want that dog!!! I wish there was some way I could get the dog cause I really want one. And I just want to say that I hate when people don't get their pets fixed!!! If they don't want them to breed & can't afford to get them neutered or spayed than why don't they keep them indoors??! I know soo many people who just let their pets keep on breeding & than the babies just die :(

It was good of you to help that poor dog :( I hate it when owners do bad things to their dogs. This neighbor of ours next door keeps their dog outside tied to the fence w/o any water for a couple of hours each day, and it can get pretty hot and humid here in Georgia during those hours. My mom usually goes outside to feed it/give it water. I HATE when people do this to their pets :(

aww.. good job ur a life saver to that puppy! That's like to day i went to the pet store and theres like seven lil puppies in a small cage :-(

I am glad that you were able to help the puppy, but I find your attitude less than charming. Ever heard of the benefit of the doubt? Sometimes human beings need our love (in the form of not assuming the worst) just as much as puppies do.

Maybe the person who lost the dog is elderly and had a heart attack and it got loose when the paramedics busted down the door to take the person to the hospital. Maybe it belonged to first time dog owners, and maybe the parents let their 8 year old child walk the dog, not aware that puppies can posess great strength, and it got away from the unsuspecting child. Maybe the whole family is hearbroken over this and had nothing but the best intentions. I just hope you find out the real situation before you go mouthing off to the owners or reporting them.

If the dog really was on death's door as you like to say it was, it was likely outside for a very long time and I would guess it may not even have an owner. It may be a stray. I know lots of "responsible" pet owners who refuse to get Butch neutered. That's just as irresponsible.

Bootsy I found the dogs owner the day after I saw the dog and took it home, I didn't have enough guts to say something mean to them but they claimed it got loose through the fence I don't know why a puppy who is a couple months old should even live in the backyard in the summer, it's been in the 100 degrees all week here. You could tell they didn't care about their animals because in the winter they used to throw their kittens out in the rain even though I didn't do anything about that they need to stop that. And if your saying it got lose when ambulance busted down the door, what am I supposed to do let there dog get hit by a car I least I kept him safe and gave him back. I see cats and squrriles splattered in the road all the time, I like to help prevent that from happening. I'm a huge animal lover and ever since my dog died I like to help animals who get abandoned or live on the streets. I usaully don't take animals just incase of rabies or disease but I will bring cats food and water and just make sure they don't run back in the streets. One day I'd like to have a job that helps with abandoned or abused animals because in my opinon no house animal should be in the street. That dog shouldn't have escaped that fence no matter what wheter they have to put in a cage or make a safer fence it shouldn't have got out at all. My cat likes to run outside when I open the door but I'll run after it, because what if a kid thinks it's abondoned or likes it or if he gets hit by a car. Now people can prevent that, if they leave there animal out it's there fault if it dies but I like to make sure they don't.

Oooooooh.....I am so furious with people who are negligent in caring for their pets! How dare they??? If they cannot care for them, do not have them, for crying out loud! I used to work in the pet supply field for almost 10 years, and as a manager of the store, and I can tell you that I have heard some horrendous stories, which I will not share here!
People who are cruel to animals are 99% of the time cruel to people, too! Ah, that felt good to vent. :rolleyes: :eek:

Tootiefan, it is unfortunate that the dog's unowners turned out to be the clouts you suspected them to be. However, if you thought that I was implying that you should not have cared for the dog, that is not the case. It is great that there are people like you around who are compassionate towards the animals they find that are in need of care. The only thing I was trying to say was that I found it a little bit unsettling how quickly you jumped to the conclusion that the owners were irresponsible and you were hating them even before you knew for sure. Now that you know they are irresponsible, feel free to hate them. ;) (And no, no dog, especially a puppy, should be outside in such heat!)

Oh I already knew they were awful people, there kids go to my school and they egg and toilet paper homes. They think there cool by doing that, they act like there gothic.

Soooo true! That is why I like animals better than people. :)

I'm glad someone brought this topic back up. A few nights ago, I saw this commericial for adopting dogs that had been abused. They told about some of the abuse cases, and how some of the dogs would shake if a human approached them. I started crying my eyes out about that, because I'm such an animal lover. I hate it when animals have been abused so badly that they are scared to death of the whole human race.

In the town where I live there is a big problem with people keeping 20, 30, 40 or more cats in apartments and trailers, usually older folks living alone. Thinking they are "doing the right thing" by taking in strays and such but in my opinion if a little old lady keeps 65-70 cats in her 4 room apartment to me thats abuse. How can a 74 year old woman living on a fixed income living by herself take care of so many cats? What about changing the kitty litter? The health of the cats? What about the health of the woman?

One street here has so many such people ( I wouldnt be surprised there are 500 cats in a 4 block area ) that not a day goes by one doesnt find two or three dead cats in the street from being hit by a car or hearing constant meows by walking down the street. The town has a rule no more than 2 dogs per house, they should a similar law with cats too.

Dogs needs licenses, cats should too !!. And there is talk about clone cats...sounds so dumb considering the facts that thousands die every day. Cat overpopulation is a serious problem.I believe even more so than dogs.

One of the cats had kittens under her car, & I found them under there looking all pitiful & she told me to throw them in the creek!!! I thought to myself good God, what a bitch! About a year or so ago somewhere in Virginia I remember reading in the paper , a couple was turned in to the local health department for having get this...103 cats in their moble home.
They were collecting cats the same way some collect trading cards or stamps. The police and city sheriffs dept not only fhad to wear masks going into the home but they found several cats either close to death or even dead.

Though the city declared the couple's home "unfit for human", the city did give them a month to fix up their place.

The cats...well the city had laws against dogs but nothing on the books against cats so they had no choice but return the 80 or so living cats back to this couple. Sure some of them have since died.

I agree there should be a limit to how many cats one owns, really is it fair to the cats to have 50 of them in a 2 room apartment? But I get the feeling that so many folks believe cats are "independent animals" therefor take care of themselves plus on top of that many cities dont care about cats the same way they do with other animals. Where is PETA when you need them ?

I am an animal lover myself, but as a future veterinarian, I cannot endorse any organization that would introduce a non-native biological agent, whatever their supposed gradiose goals may be. As a humanitarian, I cannot abide by any organization which has no concern for how their plan would devastate millions of human lives. And as a human being, I cannot and will not stand idly by while others endorse a borderline terrorist organization.

Love your animals, love people, but PLEASE, be suspicious of PETA. If you want to help animals by joining a group, there are many local groups you can join. You can find this information by going to your Humane Society. Or, of course, you can join the Humane Society of the United States.
