The actors, who respectively play Jughead's dad and Veronica's mom, announced their exits from The CW series on Sunday. I'm incredibly grateful for the friendships I've made on Riverdale, and I will miss seeing everyone on a daily basis," Ulrich said in a statement. "I'm proud to have been part of such a talented group of people, in front of the camera and behind. But I've decided that it's time for me to move on to explore other creative opportunities." Nichols added: "I had an incredible time bringing Hermione Lodge to life and working with my amazing cast, who became family. We had so many wonderful times together during the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. We really do have the best fans ever. I am looking forward to the next chapter and am excited about the future."

Back in February, "Riverdale's" Skeet Ulrich and Marisol Nichols announced that the show's fourth season would be their last. At the time, Ulrich said, "I’ve decided that it’s time for me to move on to explore other creative opportunities."

Now, appearing on an Instagram Live alongside girlfriend Megan Blake Irwin, Ulrich was once again asked why he left the show, and he responded, "I'm leaving Riverdale because I got bored creatively."

"Goodbye Riverdale…thank you for introducing me to some lifelong friendships and so many beautiful souls," Ulrich captioned an Instagram photo. "Today is my last day on set but the experience will never leave my heart. Thank you to all of you for the love and support.” Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa responded: "There will always be a hook for you to hang your Serpent jacket on in Riverdale."
