I wonder how much of a social justice warrior/feminist Molly Ringwald was during her time on FOL or if the role influenced her own views. If you take a look at many of the postings of Molly Ringwald on social media, you swear they were done by Molly Parker.

I don't doubt for a moment that Molly was 1979's equivalent of a social justice warrior (in those days, more of just a feminist).

It's funny because our attitudes have shifted so completely since then that what was once progressive is now quite regressive. I recall that in one John Hughes film, her character calls a guy a f*****. The Molly of today would never utter this word on film or video, but it was totally accepted in that era.

I know Molly has apologized for some of the more twisted (but at that time socially accepted) things that occurred in the John Hughes films, including the date rape-like scenes, the Asian stereotyping, the scenes depicting obvious sexual harassment, etc. I don't think Molly actually has anything to apologize for, as she, and those films, were a product of that time, and these moments captured on film demonstrate that not everything about the 1980s was great, or worth celebrating, and that there was even a very ugly side to the era. They are an important part of history, warts and all.

I never really think about it outside the moment she says it when I'm watching, but you saying that word totally made it sound in my head, lol.

Funny thing is, I can't place exactly where Blair sasy it...I think it's season 1, and I think maybe she says it in Mrs. Garrett's bedroom sitting by Mrs. Garrett at the sewing machine, leaning in with a flower in her hair? (before Nancy ever wore one, lol)
