One aspect of 1960s & 70s TV that always amazes and impresses me is how consistently well cast the shows are. It's almost impossible to name all the unforgettable actors of the period, whether in lead, supporting, character, recurring or guest roles. These were faces you wanted to befriend and invite into your home -- and still do if you watch classic TV. And they were so unique and individual and charming. I don't find that so much today - most casts/characters seem to be so forgettable.

There wasn’t as many programs back then. So you only got the best of the best. Now the acting pool is really watered down.

In some cases, the increasing number of networks has given opportunities to talented actors and actresses who would not have been considered desirable in the old days
