In the simplest terms, a "helicopter parent" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helicopter_parent) is one who is overprotective or has an excessive interest in their children's lives, experiences, or problems. They usually always run interference (https://www.quora.com/How-productive-is-it-long-term-for-a-parent-to-want-their-kids-childhoods-to-be-full-of-love-light-animals-and-friends/answer/Michael-A-Michnya) in their children's lives whether it be their academic studies or romantic life just to name a few.

It really started to occur to me that Beverly fits this description to a tee after rewatching the Halloween episode ("Who Are You Going to Telephone?" (https://thegoldbergs.fandom.com/wiki/Who_Are_You_Going_to_Telephone%3F)) from Season 1. In it, Beverly dons a costume so she can keep Barry from being embarrassed at a Halloween party. Murray meanwhile strongly advises Beverly to mind her own business and let Barry handle the situation on his own. In his words (and I'm paraphrasing), if she keeps coming to their kids' rescue (https://www.quora.com/How-productive-is-it-long-term-for-a-parent-to-want-their-kids-childhoods-to-be-full-of-love-light-animals-and-friends/answer/Margaret-Needler), then they'll grow up to be immature (https://www.quora.com/How-productive-is-it-long-term-for-a-parent-to-want-their-kids-childhoods-to-be-full-of-love-light-animals-and-friends/answer/D-G-Lee) and they'll never want to move out.
