Thanks to my grandparents having had a satellite dish here in America, exposing me to children's shows from Canada, one of those shows I got to enjoy in my childhood was the gentle, imaginative "Mr. Dressup" (in some ways kinda like a Canadian Mr. Rogers).

And the two main puppets on that show were the boy and dog, Casey and Finnegan. And for some reason, I always always ALWAYS think of our Molly when I see the puppet of Casey the little boy! I can't help it---of course they're not mirror images, but just the fact that Casey's got that short red hair, has that distinctive voice, fair coloring, and dark eyes, and is confident and likes to take charge of things, I've always associated him "as" Molly. Once I got that inkling in my mind I've never been able to shake it!

Molly did look (and dressed like a boy when not in the school uniform) uniform during the first season. Even more so than Cindy in "Rough Housing". Of course that would change during her John Hugh movies era. She looked much more like a girl, oops, I mean a woman then.

You're right. I mean, I always thought she looked kinda "Americana tomboyish" in that Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn way (you can just picture her in overalls snatching apple pies from window sills, catching frogs, etc.), while they really had to try and make Cindy "look" like a boy (they had to hide all that Cousin Itt hair under that hat!).

On this same theme, when I was a kid I thought Samantha on "Gimme a Break!" was almost a boy. She sure looked like a boy, and they even called her "Sam". She of course eventually outgrew that "boyness"!

Haha, yeah, good catch---don't want Molly scolding you! lol

Molly was also the tech guru of Eastland. She had her short wave radio and camera (both of which were her real life hobbies) and she was the one who set up the stereo with Cindy.

Yes, she had the "geeky/nerdy interests" of the girls.

But I wouldn't say she and Cindy set up the stereo. Mrs. Garrett set it up. Molly just read the instructions out loud for her to follow.

One of the numbers on the radio that Molly read out during the Flash Flood episode belonged to some guy named Robert Ringwald, whoever that is.

Just Google " K6YBV" and see who owns those call letters.

Bob Ringwald is Molly's dad.

Even Molly's movie costar Jon Cryer made reference on how much his childhood photo from the 1st season of Facts of Life looks quite a bit like Molly's at the time.

Haha! That's HILARIOUS! They could be siblings.

I really appreciate that Jon Cryer has pointed out Molly's beginnings on FOL.

Bob Ringwald is Molly's dad.

Yeah, I know. He and Molly helped to rewrite that part of the script for Flash Flood because they thought the original lingo for the ham radio was not realistic.

No comment from you on the puppet thing?

Well you can get one from me: I certainly see the resemblance to the puppet and Molly, they could use that to put on FOL puppet shows!

Hahaha! A "Facts of Life" puppet show, what an idea!!

Yeah I was surprised at no comment from him because he appreciates obscurity, he's old enough to have been around for "Mr. Dressup", he didn't indicate if he knew the show or he didn't, and I did another "comic" featuring a Lost Girl (his favorite one, Sue Ann) that was I tied into the subject, lol.

I don't know "Mr. Dressup" (I guess that Canadian show didn't air in my area; I remember "Today's Special", which was a Canadian puppet show on Nickelodeon), but I do see the resemblance to Molly. It's very cute.

Ahh, I thought there was a good chance you were familiar with the show.
