Is it me or did Cindy and Molly appear to get closer as the first season ended. They seem to be hanging around with one another a lot more often and Cindy and Sue Ann seemed to be casually drifting apart.

View Full Version : Cindy and Molly. 80s Dude 01-27-2020, 03:05 PM Is it me or did Cindy and Molly appear to get closer as the first season ended. '80sSitcoms 01-27-2020, 03:16 PM Actually Cindy and Molly were friends throughout the season, if you'll notice. Molly was the first to fully support Cindy running for Harvest Queen in "Rough Housing", and they hang out together at the armchair by the fireplace in "Overachieving" while other characters get to talk. I brought up this very subject a year or two ago. I wish I could find what thread it was; I even shared a photo pointing out Cinds and Mols on the armchair. But doing a search is next to hopeless, especially just searching "Cindy" or "Molly", since we do SO MUCH Lost Girls coverage here. And yes, when Molly says in "Running" that "You guys have been best friends all year!" it does have that feel of an inauthentic ring to it. It's like, really? Were they? Huh? I mean sure as fans we take it that they indeed were, but we weren't shown that they were that often. '80sSitcoms 01-27-2020, 03:35 PM Haha! I found it. :D "Buddies Forever!" - a thread examining Cindy's friendships with Sue Ann, Molly, and Natalie (https://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=378725) (with screenshots!) 80s Dude 01-27-2020, 03:56 PM Sue Ann and Blair had a strange relationship. Sue Ann would say that Blair is her friend, but Blair would always put her down. '80sSitcoms 01-27-2020, 04:15 PM Sue Ann and Blair had a strange relationship. Sue Ann would say that Blair is her friend, but Blair would always put her down. Actually Blair calls Sue Ann her best friend in "Dope". Oh, I respectfully disagree: we see Cindy touching and hugging Sue Ann as early as the very first episode of the show. We see them rooming together, we see them running, fighting, and posing for photos together. In later seasons, we discover they're still rooming together, taking classes together, and constantly hanging out with one another. In fact, we never once ever see them more than 30 feet apart from one another, for the next decade! I like that continuity. They are buddies forever. '80sSitcoms 01-28-2020, 01:41 AM Oh, I respectfully disagree I think we're not quite on the same page here. Them being best friends isn't the issue or in question; it's the fact that Cindy and Sue Ann's best friendship is not consistently shown throughout season 1. So when Molly says her line, it's jarring and feels almost contrived (to the average viewer---you have to keep the average viewer in mind) because by that point, they were barely interacting in even the same episodes; you just know the average viewer like Dominik and Brit are going, "Huh? Those two are best friends?" (some would think Blair was Sue Ann's best "frienemy" because they were seen together more than Sue Ann and Cindy). This is very noticeable when you binge the first season. It wasn't like Natalie and Tootie, who were consistently shown to be best friends and interacted as such in every episode, so that no one would have batted an eye had Molly said the line about them. Cindy and Sue Ann's best friendship was sadly not consistently shown, but it could have been and would have been a great touch. we see Cindy touching and hugging Sue Ann as early as the very first episode of the show. We see them rooming together, we see them running, fighting, and posing for photos together. All of those instances, but in just 2 episodes. |
