Like the title says, in multi-cam sitcoms, where they have a house with a staircase leading to somewhere off screen? Where do they go? Is there a platform the actors stand on and wait until they yell cut? Or is there another staircase that goes down?

On some they go upstairs but I guess in the brady bunch they didnt lead anywhere :D (I didnt realise that until recently)
