After Molly quits the Facts of Life, she ended up singing on Disney records in addition to to doing raisin commercials until she got her feet back on the ground.

Wow! Nice find! She is really good, in this! She really belts it out, and carries a good tune. I was never a fan of Molly's singing on FOL, but this shows she could be an amazing singer.

Discogs says (https://www.discogs.com/The-Disneyland-Childrens-Sing-Along-Chorus-Disneys-Merry-Christmas-Carols/master/628789) this came out in 1980, presumably at Christmas-time. So right around the same time that Molly was doing her final appearance (in late November 1980), this recording was coming out.

Do you know when the New Girl episode was taped (not the date shown)?

Molly also sang on three songs on this record, two of which are in this video.

1. This is My Country: at about the 1:30 mark.
2. God bless America: at the 12:00 mark.

This article here says the record was recoreded before Facts of Life. That is possible if the record was recorded before 1980 and then released in 1980. But memories fade and blend over time, so who knows when it was recorded. https://cartoonresearch.com/index.php/mickey-discovers-america-and-molly-ringwald-on-records/

Then this source says the album was recorded in 1980.

The article states that both Disney albums were released in 1980, before Molly appeared on TFOL. Both things cannot be true. Molly appeared on TFOL from 1979-1980, as we all know.

Then this source says the album was recorded in 1980.

Yes, that appears to be accurate.

Yes: those episodes were taped October 14th and 28th, 1980, according to the Facts of Life Production Guide (https://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=287307), posted by hch.

(As far as I know, that production guide is the most accurate list of FOL tape dates on the Internet; the only date that I'm dubious about is "The Facts of Love", with the taping date being the same date as its airing. This would have left zero time for editing.)

I thought that discrepancy was addressed in the thread? Or maybe he has the taping date in his guide and the air date is a different date on Wikipedia's FOL episode guide page?

What Christmas song Molly sang?? I assume there's one in the video link, but there's one specified here in the thread. I haven't played the link yet.

hch listed both taping dates and air dates. I'm skeptical about that one taping date because it's the same as the air date. As a video editor by profession, that would be very difficult to pull off.

The first link in this thread.

No, I know that.

(meaning I know he has the error of the double date, but maybe Wiki has the other date)

No, that discrepancy isn't discussed in that thread. Other errors were resolved, but that one wasn't brought up at the time.

That definitely could be the case. The air date listed on Wikipedia is April 4th, 1980. I'd like to be able to verify that.

I noticed that as well. Oops. The original air date for "The Facts of Love" is indeed April 04, 1980. I'll correct that right away.

Thanks, hch. I'd like to echo '80s and mention what an incredibly useful guide it has been, during our lengthy FOL discussions.
