If Molly did create quite the scene during the New Girl, Part 2. That could explain many things such as looking very uncomfortable and miserable. No dialog with Jo. Perhaps the new Facts of Life Documentary can shed more light on this and other things.

I still think it's viewer interpretation to take Molly as "uncomfortable and miserable" in NG. If I want to I can see it to a degree, but she still did her job, and in character. And it's just natural not to have her interact with Jo. Jo was the new girl; she and Molly didn't know each other yet.

To me, it's the wording. "Ringwald was very upset with the early dismissal and apparently made quite the scene." sounds to me like they're talking about at the moment Molly found out she was cut from the show and wouldn't be coming back for season 2.

Because they all knew each other by that point. With Molly's appearance, the new school year had just started so she and Jo hadn't met.


The New Girl, Part 2 was Molly's introduction to Jo. If she was to return to future episodes like she was originally was scheduled to, then why not have Molly converse with Jo?

I bet the writers just figured it was too soon. They knew season 1 viewers would connect Molly with the other three girls and not Jo, so since school had just begun they could still write it like Jo and Molly hadn't met yet. Or at least hadn't gotten to know each other well enough yet.

Huh. This is the first I have ever heard of Molly "apparently making quite the scene". That is quite intriguing.

I do wonder if it was during the Cast Cull, or when she was brought back for her five, six lines (though there were more lines left on the cutting room floor).

I also wonder if this has something to do with the tiff between Mindy and Molly, where Molly thought Mindy was intimidating.

Molly went from being such of a happy smiling child in season 1 to looking completely miserable and uncomfortable in her one off appearance in season 2. Something major must have happened where she talked about being humiliated and continues to be angry toward the show 40 years later despite getting her revenge many times over and having the last laugh.

Sure, something happened: They cut her from the show. Some kids would handle that fine, some kids would not.

But she doesn't "continue to be angry toward the show 40 years later". In the last few years she has begun to open about it: Appearing on Hallmark's Charlotte Rae 90th birthday blowout to wish her Happy Birthday, talking to Andy Cohen about being on the show, speaking with "People" Magazine about the show in a video piece where she actually watched a clip of herself on the show...may be belated, but it's progress. :)

She was so mad that she took Margo’s pie and hit Mrs. Garrett in the face with it instead.

And aren't we all glad! I hope these types of interviews and appearances continue. We have heard so many stories from the Core Four over the years, but the origins of the show remain shrouded in mystery, because more than half of the people involved in the early episodes are rarely interviewed about those murky, hidden details.
