Granted, I don't know how much nurses in the Los Angeles area made in the late '70s-early '80s. I've been reading elsewhere that the writing didn't do a convincing enough of a job making us believe that somebody like her couldn't have gotten an apartment where she had her own bedroom.

Maybe she had to pay for nursing school? She may have had some other debt too? Maybe she was trying to save money for the future? Maybe she wanted to save for a nicer apartment or a home? Maybe she did not want to live alone?

I have known some people that could have well afforded a place of their own. but still lived with roommates far longer than they needed to before they rented their own apartment.

I guess we will never really know why she moved in?

Back than she could have afforded a single or a one bedroom on her own. But to live at the beach / Santa Monica might have been kind of tight ! Either she wanted to be at the beach and not be tight on cash or she didn't want to live alone! :)

But I could see renting a two bedroom with one other person .But with two other people and have to share a bedroom with another girl on a nurse's salary back than seems strange ? I wouldn't want to do that unless money was really tight! ;)

Maybe she had to help support her younger sister Sam! :lol:

Good question. An even better question is why Janet, who was a branch manager of a flower shop, had to have roommates? Maybe the jobs didn't pay as well as the job titles lead us to believe...

Nurses average $60,000 a year these days and I'm sure even more in California!

So even if you adjust for deflation Terri would've easily been able to get her own place. But remember this isn't a documentary. They clearly wanted a nurse as a roommate for the storylines and they got a LOT of storylines with Terri being a nurse!

Sure, they ALL could've gotten their own places but then we wouldn't have had this show! As a top chef Jack could've also easily gotten his own place!

She loved to save money and make friends. :lol:

They HAD to live together otherwise there was no show! The producers must've figured the fans wouldn't care about that as long as the show was funny and they were right.

In the Three's Company universe?
