I mentioned about a month ago that I would do a page about some of the more popular free streaming sites that are out there like CTV, Tubi, and Crackle and a few more and show you what they have to offer as far as classic TV titles and new releases. With this being the first complete week of the New Year and the first one after the Christmas holidays, this will be my first post. Others will follow about once or twice a week whenever new material comes in. First of all, here is what was available during the holidays for those of you who may have been on vacation or just felt like doing other things and like me are just now getting back in the streaming scene.

December 19

CTV Throwback - The Flying Nun (https://www.ctv.ca/The-Flying-Nun#/1) - Sally Field's second TV starring role after "Gidget" and the one that brought her instant fame and notoriety which she tried hard to remove later in her career on the way to becoming an Oscar winner.

A very funny and underrated series which is rarely seen anywhere.

The Mothers-In-Law (https://tubitv.com/series/300004689/the_mothers_in_law?tracked=1) - (Seasons 1 and 2) - Sitcom produced by Desi Arnaz Sr. starring comic veterans Kaye Ballard and Eve Arden.

Today is normally when CTV Throwback introduces their new content. For the third week in a row it didn't happen but what I find to be more interesting is what they have done with a pair of new series.

This week, the CTV Comedy Channel premiered the first two episodes of the new rebooted "Mad About You". The series will run every Tuesday at 10:00 and 10:30 pm and can also be streamed on the CTV Comedy (https://www.ctvcomedy.ca/Shows/Mad-About-You) page. The original series can be seen in its entirety on CTV Throwback (https://www.ctv.ca/Mad-About-You#/1) along with a bonus feature which spotlights the Top 10 episodes along with a direct link to the new show.

Speaking of bonuses, the main CTV network will debut another new mid-season series on Feb. 16 called "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist" which will also be on NBC. The first episode is already available for streaming one month early on the CTV website as well as on the People magazine site for US viewers. If you like "Glee" you will like this show as well. The sudden bursts of music that happen on nearly every scene can be a little unsettling at first, but once you get used to it and Zoey herself, it might grow on you a little. Have a look:

A couple of mid-60s classics from Tubi highlight this week's new releases:

As usual, nothing worthwhile from either title. February should be a little more interesting with a couple of noteworthy titles for 1970s TV fans:

1. Before she was a regular on Family Ties, Meredith Baxter found herself as part of another hit series which was simply called "Family" (from 1976). Also in the cast on their way to stardom were young co-stars Willie Aames ("Eight Is Enough", "Charles In Charge") and Kristy McNichol ("Empty Nest").

2. "All's Fair", also from 1976, stars Richard Crenna and Bernadette Peters as a young couple living in Washington in the post-Watergate era.

Both shows will premiere on Feb. 20. Full details:

CTV Throwback

Today, there are 4 more series to debut on CTV Throwback, two of them with a Valentine's Day flavor, that are all worthy of being "thrown back" where they came from, but instead are fully available to watch:

1. Family Law (https://www.ctv.ca/Family-Law) - Starring Tony Danza as a lawyer. That's all you have to know to realize how bad this show is.

2. The Guardian (https://www.ctv.ca/The-Guardian#/1) - Another law series starring Dabney Coleman.

3. Cupid (https://www.ctv.ca/Cupid#/1) - A sitcom about a man who claims to be the angel Cupid, the god of love. Just in time for Valentine's Day!

4. Marry Me (https://www.ctv.ca/Marry-Me#/1) - A man plans to marry his girlfriend after 6 years of dating. Your Valentine won't like this show either.

I'll add it to my list for you even though it's US-only and I can't get it. This week, they added another title and I'll have it further down the page along with other news about upcoming releases and more titles that you are sure to fall in love with since, after all, today is Valentine's Day.

The big news is from CTV Throwback which has been a little disappointing with its shows recently but in the next month they will look to make it up with the following series:

This week, they continue with their monthly habit of rotating different seasons of Baywatch (https://www.ctv.ca/Baywatch#/1), giving us the first (Season 1) and last (Season 9) seasons of the hit series. Season 1 ran on NBC before they foolishly cancelled it and it was picked up in syndication where it ran for 8 more successful years. CTV will have Seasons 2 and 3 beginning on March 10th.

Also new from CTV Throwback is The Partridge Family - 2200 AD (https://www.ctv.ca/Partridge-Family-2200-A-D#/1) , the cartoon sequel based on the classic series from the 1970s (which is also on CTV Throwback (https://www.ctv.ca/The-Partridge-Family#/1)) where the family ends up in space, with the cast providing their own voices. The cartoon can also be found on the "Partridge Family" DVD sets, where they have a couple of episodes available as bonus features. CTV has the entire series, all 15 episodes from 1974.

Next Thursday, CTV Throwback will offer a couple more 1970s shows: All's Fair and Family, both from 1976. Full details still to come!

Not only that, on the same day, they will be offering a short-lived series that is still popular with fans today despite its limited run. It's "That's My Mama" starring Clifton Davis and Ted Lange, just before he found fame on "The Love Boat". I'm not particularly fond of either series, considering them both to be slightly above terrible, but I'll watch anyway whenever I can find the time. CTV Throwback - Just as I mentioned last week, CTV has added 2 series from the 1970s to watch and enjoy. Both premiered in 1976:

Thu Feb. 27

CTV Throwback - Rude Awakening (https://www.ctv.ca/Rude-Awakening#/1) (Showtime - 1998-01 - 3 seasons, 55 episodes) - A former soap star tries to get her life back together after joining Addictions Anonymous. The series stars Sherilyn Fenn, Richard Lewis, and Lynn Redgrave. The show tries to pattern itself after "Soap" and other similar series but doesn't quite make it. On the bright side, there is plenty of nudity, since it originated on a US cable channel where obviously anything goes.

Internet Archive - A real treat for "MASH" fans! Not only do you get the entire series in 2 parts, but also the original movie starring Donald Sutherland and Elliott Gould that the series was based on.

I'm not sure what the problem was with the "Strong Medicine" link and why it wouldn't work. The CTV links always worked before. What I have done is include a 2nd link with a different address to see if it's better than the first one. Try it and see!

As for trying to get Airy TV on Roku, I found a message that says that Airy TV is testing out a new beta version on ROKU that can be accessed with a specific code. The code is XDTHQLV. Once that code is entered, then you should be all set.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that both problems have been solved.

Wow, I guess I totally missed The Bob Hope Show.

I only recently found this thread, when I was searching to see if anybody was talking about Shoutfactory TV saying they will have all 11 seasons of Carol Burnett streaming.

It seems that Tubi has removed all the episodes of The Bob Hope Show, just like Crackle sometimes deactivates a show.

I thought Tubi though kept shows longer, but hopefully it will be back....

I didn't notice that The Bob Hope Show was gone either. For some reason, TUBI doesn't seem to promote their TV shows as aggressively as their movies. In looking for advance notice, they don't show any TV news in either their "Coming Soon" blogs and press notices or the "Leaving Soon" section on the site. So anything that comes on can be a surprise, and sometimes a very pleasant one. For example, The Carol Burnett Show might be on Shout Factory soon. If so, it will also be on TUBI, since they share the same content. On the subject of streaming classic TV, I wasn't sure if anyone had any more info like if licenses changed.

The reason that I say that is, back in 2010 or so I imagined services like Crackle, Tubi, Pluto, etc where it was ad-supported streaming but they seemed no where to be found. (I didn't expect it to take like a decade....lol)

Yet like 2018/2019, it seemed like classic tv and even classic crime (Filmrise) just started blowing up online. Even some subchannels broadcast live now.

Did older licenses just get cheaper or is it due to cord cutting and cheap & easy streaming devices like the Fire TV?

I think it may be a little of both. As channels like Pluto and Tubi become more popular, you may see more live/VOD channels and services come up and that can only be great news for viewers. Figuring out licenses and their restrictions and length of terms can be tricky and complicated so I don't bother. If you don't see your favorite series on there anymore it could be because the license expired. It could also explain those awful and unfair geo-blocking rules where you can see Crackle in the US and CTV in Canada but not both. Crackle recently changed their name to Sony/Crackle but have now dropped the Sony part because of licensing issues.

TUBI has managed to stay ahead of the game and show tremendous growth in the streaming business by forming successful and profitable partnerships with other streaming companies Filmrise, Shout Factory, Dove Channel, Docurama, CON Tv and now FOX, which recently bought TUBI for $440 million. Most of the content on those smaller sites are all on TUBI and can all be seen for free. That's why I consider TUBI the best service that's out there today.

TUBI has managed to stay ahead of the game and show tremendous growth in the streaming business by forming successful and profitable partnerships with other streaming companies Filmrise, Shout Factory, Dove Channel, Docurama, CON Tv and now FOX, which recently bought TUBI for $440 million. Most of the content on those smaller sites are all on TUBI and can all be seen for free. That's why I consider TUBI the best service that's out there today.

Funny you should mention all those partnerships with Tubi.

I've been using Tubi more even though I have a little trouble finding stuff with the interface right now. It seems better to search as it wants to more so show movies. Actually had a buddy think it was movies only as he couldn't find TV at all.

Anyway, I heard of The Dove Channel but at first I assumed it was like women/beauty type stuff.

Yet I found some Red Skeleton & Lucille Ball Stuff just now.

I noticed it says "Presented by Dove" on some and strangely after checking Dove itself, oddly two Lucys say "Premium Only" on Dove but Free on Tubi....:eek: lol

As a tribute to the late Ken Osmond, they are running a "Leave It To Beaver" marathon which is running all day today and well into the night. Will Me-TV decide to do the same thing? No chance! I just wanted to give everybody a heads up on a nice find that I just learned of.

I just learned about Folk TV via another forum that was discussing the ShoutFactory TV Carol Burnett news.

I know it's not like the majority of stuff posted in this thread being that it's a live streaming channel and not AVOD-type on demand content but it's a nice addition especially if you are a cord cutter.

Usually around 8PM everyday (except Sun) they air two hours of Carol Burnett (supposedly very similar to MeTV's but sometimes different skits of the same episode.

I noticed they also air Jack Benny, Red Skelton, Sherlock Holmes, Beverely Hillbillies, and more.

I know the Carols probably won't mean too much if SF does actually release entire episodes but it's a nice channel to stream for someone like me who's a cordcutter and has all the odds against him. I mean my area doesn't have many of the classic subchannels and I'm in a bad reception area and my cable co doesn't carry many of the subchannels that are in my area. :(

I really hope one day that channels such as Cozi, MeTV, Antenna, Get TV, etc, all go streaming one day as I can think of so many that would be watching them constantly.....

Interesting.....Folk TV actually has "The Carol Burnett Show" like MeTV is airing.

I figured it'd probably just be CB&F at first.

I always assumed that MeTV had exclusivity on the show as no other subchannel would ever air it.

I'd be curious to check later the aspect ratio as I wonder if they cut stuff off like MeTV does.

On a side note, I don't think blue for the F in Folk TV's on screen logo was the best choice.....most of the time it looks like it just says Olk TV......:lol:

This week, CTV debuts a pair of spinoffs from two of the most popular sitcoms of the 70s: "All In The Family" and "Sanford and Son".

After "All In The Family" ended in 1979, CBS introduced a sequel, "Archie Bunker's Place", which picks up where the original beloved series left off, with Archie Bunker fullfilling his dream of owning a bar in Queens, NY. The rest of the Bunkers were no longer around, but daughter Gloria still managed to find a series of her own, called simply "Gloria", which is also debuting on CTV Throwback this week. CTV doesn't have the rights for "All In The Family" yet but it should only be a matter of time, like maybe a few weeks, before that show is added to their collection.

For "Sanford & Son", CTV Throwback used a little trickery which you might not be aware of unless you know where to look. I have mentioned before that CTV had "Sanford Arms" while Crackle had "Sanford". Now CTV has both. "Sanford Arms" debuted the year after "Sanford & Son" had ended but CTV Throwback has not included it as a separate series. Instead, they have it hidden away right after the final season of "Sanford & Son". "Sanford Arms" was not very successful, running for only one season, so NBC tried again with "Sanford", a series which had Redd Foxx as Fred Sanford out on his own without his son Lamont. Like "Sanford Arms" it also only lasted only one season but now it can be available here to watch at any time:

Well mainly bad news in that ShoutFactory TV's first episode was just a "Carol Burnett & Friends" right off the bat.

They did say curated episodes during the marathon, so I guess they could possibly still have full episodes later.....

Anyway, it's still good news because even if it's CBF/CBS like MeTV, they prob don't air it in the weird MeTV Aspect Ratio and the quality is much better than my local MeTV channel.

Oh wow that's interesting.

I took a glance at one episode called "The Carol Burnett Show S01E01 - Jim Neighbors" on ShoutFactory & MeTV.

I noticed Shout has a longer intro of Carol saying like "This is the first show" & "Looks like we have a new crowd here" then "can we bump up the lights?". (Paraphrasing)

Oddly the MeTV's version just starts with "But we can turn up the lights?" which seems like a strange opener.....

Also Shout's version I noticed aspect ratio wise has like 1.5-2 inches or so of the background above her head but MeTV has her head almost cut off.....

EDIT: I was wrong about the different intros, as didn't realize Carol wore the same outfit in both S1E1 Jim Neighbors and S1E10 Martha Raye. MeTV & Shout seem to line up.

I think they look pretty decent compared to MeTV or Folk but I don't know if they are the exact same ones or not.

The reason I say that is, one person said Folk's copies don't even always match MeTV's copies.

I do like how I recorded MeTV for years now (like 8 months to get a re-air for a failed recording) with CB&F then TCBS and right after I make sure I have every episode, ShoutFactory TV just goes, "Oh here you go, you can just get them all online for free at once" (The Roku Channel did that to me with Joey Bishop, tried to get the show via Retro then Antenna then right after all episodes released......).

I did not see it mentioned in this thread but Roku carries an app/channel that is called TV Time Classic sitcoms and features all 268 episodes of Burns and Allen (Looks like allot of episodes were recorded off an Antenna TV affiliate), Life with Elizabeth, Private secretary, the Dick Van Dyke show, The trouble with father, Date with the angels, Make room for daddy, Meet corlis Archer, i married Joan,Love that Bob, Mr. and Mrs. North, and 123 episodes of You bet your life)

I'm not too familiar with the ROKU Channel because I don't have a Roku device at home and when I try to access it online I get the dreaded geo-blocking message "Roku is not available in your area." So any information I get on it I try to find from reliable sources that I can trust.

The big news from Roku which came out on June 1st is that it has introduced a new TV guide which gives you access to over 100 different live TV channels. I have found the new channel list on a couple of different sources and here is what you can expect to see on it:

As for the Roku Channel itself, it continues to roll out new titles every week which I will pass on to you as they come in. It is one of a number of free VOD channels that contains classic TV series from the 50s to the 80s, including TV Time Classics which was mentioned above. That title reminded me of a series of dollar-store DVDs that I used to see called "TV Time Comedy" which had over 100 public domain episodes of classic series like "The Dick Van Dyke Show", "The Lucy Show", and "The Beverly Hillbillies". This Roku channel operates in much the same fashion and there are many other Roku channels that also offer public domain sitcoms and movies, including separate channels for specific shows like "Our Miss Brooks" and "Love That Bob". Whatever you are into, you are sure to find a Roku channel for it here:

If you are a public domain fan, you might remember that many of the dollar DVDs that I mentioned above were made by a company called Mill Creek Entertainment. I haven't posted on this thread before for I never streamed or had DVD's but now now with Infinity I bumped into Tubi and found a few shows I either haven't seen at all or not since their original airings. Found the Glen Campbell Good time hour and Mr Peepers, Life of Reilly, Make room for Daddy with Jean Hagen. Now more time spent in front of Tv. How do I get my house hold work done ???

So the first 5 seasons of Donna Reed Show are on Tubi and Amazon Prime. But the series ran 8 seasons. What happened to the last three seasons? 4

Does the Decades TV channel air them?

I also noticed through stream, one can view the first season of Petticoat Junction, but the remaining are missing in action, with the exception of Decades.

For shows like "Petticoat Junction", "Beverly Hillbillies", "The Lucy Show", and "The Dick Van Dyke Show", TUBI only shows certain episodes. These are the public domain episodes that I talked about a few weeks back that you may have on DVD but they don't have the rights to the entire series.

"The Donna Reed Show" is on TV, DVD, and streaming sites like TUBI but, again because of rights issues, only the first 5 seasons can be seen, even on Decades. However, there are a few episodes from later seasons on YouTube, including the series finale "Byline Jeffrey Stone". You can find them on the Video Archive channel here:

Best known for its unique filming format which I can now definitely confirm for you in case you're not sure. Seasons 1 and 4 were filmed in black and white. Seasons 2 and 3 are in color. I don't know why it was done this way but there you have it.

This series is part of a new streaming library, which has partnered with Tubi and Shout among others, called Proven Entertainment, which so far looks like a proven winner to me. Among the series that it provides to different companies are "The Carol Burnett Show", "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In", "The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts", "Real People", "The Barbara Stanwyck Show", and a series that I am really looking forward to seeing when it becomes available: "Stanley" from 1957 starring Buddy Hackett, Carol Burnett, and Paul Lynde. With a great cast like that, it's hard to believe that it only lasted one season.

TUBI

The Joey Bishop Show (https://tubitv.com/series/300005133/the_joey_bishop_show) (1961) - The sitcom that came before the talk show starring Joey Bishop as fictional talk show host Joey Barnes. Best known for its unique filming format which I can now definitely confirm for you in case you're not sure. Seasons 1 and 4 were filmed in black and white. Seasons 2 and 3 are in color. I don't know why it was done this way but there you have it.

This series is part of a new streaming library, which has partnered with Tubi and Shout among others, called Proven Entertainment, which so far looks like a proven winner to me. Among the series that it provides to different companies are "The Carol Burnett Show", "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In", "The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts", "Real People", "The Barbara Stanwyck Show", and a series that I am really looking forward to seeing when it becomes available: "Stanley" from 1957 starring Buddy Hackett, Carol Burnett, and Paul Lynde. With a great cast like that, it's hard to believe that it only lasted one season.

The show was already on The Roku Channel if you want to watch them there.

But when the show was recorded it was a big mess.

For S1-S3 it was on NBC. Some episodes from S1 are actually in color, so that makes it more confusing. (Some think NBC must have been testing color at the time and tried it with just a few random eps.)

During S2, NBC switched over to color.

After S3, NBC cancelled it, and CBS, still at B&W, did S4 then canceled it again. (I believe in the end of S3 but definitely in S4, Joey says something like "We were canceled" and "We're on CBS now".)

Just a little bit more trivia, the show changes format/plot from S1 to S2 and there actually was a destroyed episode featuring the JFK Impressionist Vaughn Meader, but the real JFK was killed right before it's airing and it supposedly was destroyed.

I know this isn't VoD type stuff like I did find another classic channel.

It's actually a sister of Folk TV called ZLiving.

Not really sure why it has Login & Register, as it seems broken anyway as the entire website I guess is under construction.

It's totally free though, I just used Google Login as oddly making an account or using Facebook Login seemed broken.

They seem to have VoD but only of new shows but they air Red Skelton, Petticoat Junction, Beverly Hillbillies, WiseGuy, and more during certain hours.

The big news this week is the launch of NBC's Peacock service which so far has opened to less than enthusiastic reviews from the public. Even though it's not available where I live, I was still a little curious to see what it has to offer in both its free and premium plans, particularly its library of TV series past and present. Under the TV comedies and series categories, this is what you can expect on the free tier:

Also making their debuts this week are a couple of short-lived sitcom spinoffs from the hit series "Married With Children" and "Who's The Boss?" which featured strong casts but weak ratings that were initially presented on their original shows as backdoor pilots.

The first one is "Top Of The Heap" starring Joseph Bologna and Matt LeBlanc before "Friends" as a father and son moving company. It ran on Fox for 1 season and only 6 episodes in 1991 before coming back a year later under a new title "Vinnie and Bobby" which didn't help at all. The new show only lasted for 7 episodes.

One of the few reboots that I love to watch because it captures the spirit of the older show without trying to belittle it or dumb it down for younger viewers who never saw it. I also like "The New Leave It To Beaver" for the same reason.

Pluto TV added a Carol Burnett 24/7 channel.

Man Carol is really popping lately online.

XUMO now has Ch 205 Carol Burnett.

The difference though is, they seem to be showing the Roku Channel ones that are full episides with musical numbers.

They also have on demand episides. They don't tell you what episode is what though as easily.

You're right, Carol Burnett seems to be everywhere lately and good for her!
Her series can be seen for free on Pluto, Xumo, Shout, Peacock, and Tubi. Tubi is the only source that doesn't have the show on Live TV because they don't have any live channels on their site, although I wouldn't be surprised if they add them someday. They do have every episode from all 11 seasons which does give them an advantage over other sources that don't have the complete set.

Dark Shadows is not complete on Pluto. The On Demand has at the most 400 episodes. Their channel doesn't even air all the episodes they provide on demand. They cut off after the second storyline in rotation. This show has over 1,000 episodes. I don't understand why they only air at the most like 200 episodes. It's better to watch this show on Amazon Prime because they do provide all the episodes for fans to watch.

Nice find! I always had trouble finding his shows, he seems to air no where until I finally found Folk TV.

I have a bunch of the Folk TV ones, but it's like the editors were drunk when they cut them for commercials sometimes :crazy:. Like many shows cut audio off after ad break like they say "The Silent Spot", you just hear "The Spot" or just "Spot".

My favorite was when a character was walking through the room and they ad broke in the middle of her walk then after break she finished her walk.....

Next week is Thanksgiving weekend in Canada. With the rise of both free and paid streaming services, the old video sharing sites like YouTube, DailyMotion, Uncle Earl's Classic TV, and The Internet Archive have been overlooked by those who prefer the new models. You can still buy YouTube TV if you wish, but the old site still has some great classic TV channels and playlists that you can watch. The danger still exists that a channel might be taken down either by the users themselves or by YouTube for copyright violations, but while they're there you can enjoy them at any time. The best channel out there right now might be Public Domain Television, which all month long is running a continuous series of classic TV marathons that began Sept. 28. They're complete episodes of more than 12 different series running as a live stream all month. Once one series ends, another one follows. This morning, the "Petticoat Junction" marathon ended and it was immediately followed by "The Adventures Of Ozzie and Harriet". There will be lots more to follow, including these favorites:

Every video on here is from the late 60s/early 70s "relevance" era and is shot the old fashioned way, in 16mm film! The selection may be small and the video quality takes getting used to but it is entirely worth it. It includes the "My Three Sons" episode "The Elopement" which nobody else has online plus "The Partridge Family" and its short-lived "lost" spinoff "Getting Together" from 1971 with Bobby Sherman. You also get episodes from "Julia", "Love American Style", "Nanny and the Professor", "Temperatures Rising", "The Paul Lynde Show", "The Ghost and Mrs Muir", "Mayberry RFD", and even an episode from "The Donna Reed Show" from Season 8 called "Boy Meets Girl Machine". Save this group to your collection soon because it will only get better. The same could also be said for the other channels on this list. There is sure to be something for everyone on all of them. The problem for me will be deciding which ones to watch - and when!

Crackle has gotten lazy lately. They used to update the seasons of their shows every three months in January, April, July, and October. This year it seems they have just given up and the same seasons stay indefinitely and sometimes change at odd times. I don’t know if this has to do with COVID or not.

I wondered this myself but gave it a few days just to see if maybe delayed.

I still don't understand why Crackle has to limit so much though.

I'd figure stuff like 227, they easily could put all 5 seasons up.

It would be great if they did like Tubi/Roku as they seem to have some stuff that never made it to home media.

Why would any site need to limit unless a rights issue? Crackle (at least when Sony owned) seemed to hold back on stuff they owned instead of put it all there and milk the ad money.....

While this isn't a show itself, it still is great news for nostalgia TV fans. The Roku Channel has finally added an official app for Fire TV Devices vs having to use it wonky in browser.

This makes the Fire TV Devices an even nicer option for Classic TV fans as not bad as for as little as $30 (obviously depending on which model you want) you can have Roku Channel, Tubi, ShoutFactory TV, Pluto, XUMO, Airy TV, YouTube, Crackle, etc and binge watch pretty much all the mentioned content here.

As I was looking back at previous pages that I wrote, I noticed that almost a month ago I mentioned that TUBI did not yet have any Live TV channels but I wouldn't be surprised if that happened soon. That moment has now arrived. Thanks to its deal with FOX, TUBI now will offer live newscasts from 17 different FOX stations across the US as part of its "News On Tubi" feature and also news channels from other sources like NBC News Now, Bloomberg, Cheddar, and even CBC!

Well I don't have any clue what is going on with Carol Burnett's Show lol.....

First it was confusing enough that MeTV, Shout, and Folk TV don't always show the same skits in the same "episode".

Now Shout airs sometimes different episodes live than they even have online.

Tonight they had S11E07 and called it "The Family Show" and aired as expected The Family playing Password.

Yet their website S11E07, while also called "The Family Show", has absolutely no The Family skits and just regular ones.....

Can't we just get a 100% uncut release? This is getting confusing......

For CTV Throwback and other streaming sites like Tubi, for example, a regular download app or program like the ones you might use for YouTube or other video sites don't work very well. They might download only the ads but not the shows themselves and that's not what you want. So when all else fails, I fall back on my one and only foolproof option which is Microsoft Windows 10.

Windows users might not be aware that Microsoft has its own free video capture and recording tools built in to Windows 10. This is how I use them when I want to download a video from CTV Throwback.

1. Start playing the video. If an ad appears first, wait for it to end then begin recording.

2. On your keyboard, there is a small Windows icon that appears next to the spacebar. Hold it down with your left hand and press the letter G with your right hand. (Press Windows + G keys at the same time.)

3. A screen will pop up with options for capturing your computer screen and recording videos. To record, simply press the bright red "Record" button. To stop recording, press the square box that appears on the screen while the recording is taking place.

That's it. You are all done now.

I really wish that Chicago Hope and Boston Public would be added to a streaming service. Hulu had Chicago Hope years ago, but it's supposed to be expensive to stream/add because of all of the singing. The sad part is, you can't even buy the DVD/VHS in America. Someone did upload some episodes to YouTube but the picture and sound aren't in sync and the picture is in a weird format.

You have to screen capture/record for CTV.

I am a rather experienced video grabber with tools such as ffmpeg, streamlink/livestreamer, youtube-dl, etc.

Anyway CTV uses DRM Encryption, so you can't just 1-2-3 capture the video to your drive.

I really find it silly when OTA Channels/Non-Paid decide to "protect" their online videos when a person can just record them on their DVR or something. Many UK/AU stations do this and I'm crossing my fingers US doesn't start. Also VUDU & IMDB TV do it but rule of thumb is, if the site has paid videos also, most likely DRM.

If you like to record videos from your TV set instead of online using TiVo, TiVo now offers more than 72 new channels from Pluto TV which feature many different genres like news, sports, entertainment, and music, plus 12 new Spanish channels. These new channels can be found in both the Live TV and On Demand sections.

Every month, about a week before the month is due to end, the various streaming providers put out a list of what they'll be offering in the next month. CTV does this once a week, normally on Thursdays. This is a great way for fans to plan ahead and look forward to what they want to watch next, but, in most cases, the list will only include upcoming movies and leave out new TV releases. Now Tubi has learned the error of its ways and put out a press release which lists both movies and TV releases for November and the TV titles include plenty of Hanna-Barbera cartoons from the 70s and 80s. There are not many new releases to speak of this week, but instead the main Live TV providers are adding plenty of new channels, stocking up for the holidays and also for an expected surge of COVID 19 cases, giving TV viewers a good reason to stay home and watch more of their favorite shows.

PLUTO TV

Leading the way is PLUTO TV which will be adding 6 new 24/7 Classic TV channels this Tuesday November 24. Getting their own channels will be: Happy Days, Wings, Family Ties, The Love Boat, The Beverly Hillbillies, and Mission: Impossible. The Happy Days channel should be the most interesting. Not only do you get every episode of "Happy Days", but also the complete series of "Laverne and Shirley" and "Mork and Mindy" all for free on the same channel. Garry Marshall would be very proud!

Interesting, now that Roku has a Carol Burnett Channel, all the sudden ShoutFactoryTV.com’s one is back.

I never knew what happened but like 2-3 days after they put it up, it just vanished.

They stopped really putting her show and Johnny Carson on the main ShoutFactory TV Live but still at times. They seem to be more in to as MST3K/Sci-Fi now most of the time.

They're poorly syndicated versions. They take 48 - 50 minute episodes and trim them down to 22 minutes. I don't blame people if they're not watching it and that's why Shout took it off. People should be able to see the whole episode and not just two or three segments of an episode. I haven't bothered watching it since that's how it is.

I've been watching The Nanny on Dailymotion. I'm glad to see that it's streaming some place else. I can't figure out why most Dailymotion episodes have the letters backwards or reverse.

That's typically an "inverse" trick done by the uploaded. It's done a lot on YouTube so that the automatic copyright system doesn't immediately flag the video and disable it.

Sometimes it gets so bad that I've seen actual fair use YouTubers do it just to be safe. The automatic systems seem to forget about fair use and flag legit videos also.

Another trick is putting a random image like a photo framw on the screen and the show only in a little square section of the screen.

The Beverly Hillbillies channel on Pluto TV has tremendous DVD quality episodes. I believe only the first 4 seasons have been aired. I wonder if Pluto will expand that ? Anyway, it takes about 4 days to play all 4 seasons then back to the beginning.
