I don't think it was a boyfriend Rhoda ran after but I imagine she thought jaunting half the width of the US away from the Bronx was the ONLY way she could get (occasionally) get Ida off her back.

I always wondered how being a "Window dresser" in a department store could be a full time job? How long would that take to set up a display ? And maybe she dressed the mannequins ? But still how would that take 8 hours a day , 5 days a week ? Maybe she went around to different branches of the store ? But it always seemed as if she just worked at one store! How could this be a full time job?:confused:

I think the job idea was for Rhoda to work as an independent contractor. Otherwise, most of her time would be spent in meetings, workshops and in-house marketing campaigns for a specific department store.

I think they wanted Rhoda to be self-employed, so the writers didn't really have to pay attention to character details. They could use her job/work as a sub-plot when needed and ignore her job when the episode didn't warrant it.
