After you were able to drive, did you find that driving is as good as it seemed before you could drive? Cause, I really, really want to drive and I'm wondering if it's as good as it seems.

Yea trust us. It's a gooooooooooooooooood feeling. Plus, I couldn't imagine my parents driving me everywhere I go.

It was fun for me at first but now there are times when I would rather walk or ride my bike. Driving can be a drag sometimes, especially when you're stuck in traffic or have to chauffeur people around. After a few years the novelty wore off for me.

In a month I will finally be able to know what it is like to drive on my own. I've been waiting for an entire year for this:D

According to my friends who can already drive on their own though, it gets kinda old kinda fast. We'll see though...;)

I think that you'll find both sides are true....driving can be alot of fun but it can suck sometimes too. The novelty of cruising down a secluded country highway with the windows rolled down on a starry summer night has never worn off for me. However, as stated, driving can be a royal pain in the butt sometimes. Driving for any prolonged distance can make you tired and irritable, especially if you've had to deal with construction or traffic jams. But I think you will find, after several months to a year of driving, that for the most part it just becomes a mundane activity.

ok, well i drove home from school like on wed. i have my permit. it was exciting. i thought it would be so cool since i've been dreaming about it forever. it was cool when i was with the training guy from driving school but i was like so nervous with my dad. i guess the "watch out for the stop sign!!!" when the sign's like 400 feet away wasn't helping. i was tense though. and scared. lol. but, it was fun. but all in all, it's really cool. if you don't think about the accidents that could happen or whatever...

To be able to drive instead of having to depend on other types of transports or people is good s**t man no doubt about that! You'll find out real quick, though, as some of the folks here have been informing you, that it can be a headache. I'm a HUGE promoter of not driving every dang place you need or want to go. Walk, bike or run even. Don't drive all of your short trips to the corner store or wherever if you really don't need to.

:rotflmao: Parents are more afraid of teens driving than teens are. My parents still tell me almost every move to make and I've been driving almost twelve months now. The only time I get scared when I drive is when they yell at me to do something:lol:

Oh yea, it's great till you realize that the tank is sitting on E and it takes money to fill it up... money which parents don't give... then the car insurance, the car payments...then you realize, crap, this thing can break!

but other than that... it's cool not having to depend on parents!

I have my permit...I sometimes hate mom being in the car with me because I'll be driving 5 miles per hour above the speed limit and she'll be like "you're going too fast!!!" Ugggh. Driving can be pain...when you have to drive a long time and people won't let you into their lane..blah. I can't wait 'til December though! I'll get my license. *dances*

I can't answer this question because the most I've ever done to drive was put the key in the ignition for my mom and turned it. Then, she reached in the back seat, and I started to- well, tried to back the car out...but she caught me...

Oh well, only about 2 and a half more years I guess. Ain't that bad

*mumbles* stupid, dumb--MA conservitive driving laws--alright I am getting my permit a month from today...wahoo...but Ive driven around my block a few times and it is fun stuff...but since i dont get my license till earlest next Jan...I cant really answer this question

I hear ya about the speed limit thing, Kaley! If I'm DOING the speed limit I need to 'be careful and watch my speed' but if I get the least bit over it I'm 'driving to fast'...even though everyone is passing me. My dad's theory is never go the speed limit...do about 10mph under it. Ugh...

Driving can be a lot of fun. However, there are a lot of people who have no business being on the road, and they can spoil the fun. You really have to watch out for yourself. The best piece of advice I can give anyone who's learning how to drive is "Drive defensively!" :D

Driving is very important. My favorite part of driving is when you drive down an open road. Cruising........ It just feels good. I do hate the stupid drivers though and like some people mentioned here there are plenty of them. They don't use the signals, They drive to close to you, They stick out too much......... (Drivers know what that means) etc. You should learn to drive defensively (like someone mentioned here) It's very important and always use a seat belt. If you don't want to wear it........... - Just remember this person who did not wear their seatbelt..........

Not necessarly. The roads still have the drunks, the freaks, and the wackos.

I hate this states driving laws. I get my permit in 1 3/4 or 2/3 or whateverth years but I have to wait till im 18 to get a liscense. But i guess its ok since my paents are paying for my cars insurance, monthly payments, and everything for no reason... And Ill just drive it anyway I mean my school is less that 2 miles away... on a main highway which is stakedout by cops... ok that idea sucked.

So true JennyLee. But you know what the most annoying thing is to a driver, when they forget to turn their turning signal off and you drive behind them for blocks, but you have to go so slow because they MIGHT be turning. That has to be the most annoying thing thing to a driver. That and when you run over a cat, OR HIT A COW DANNIE!?!?!?!? HOW COULD YOU!?!?!? LOL

My mom hit a squirell once. damned gray fur beast.

I love to drive. I had my license for a year and a few days. I hate when I'm driving and you are stopping to make a turn and it seems like the person behind you isn't going to stop.
