When I watch this one I say “Well isn’t that ridiculous. Why am I watching this?

Yeah I sat thru it. I'm surprised I didn't turn over to Andy Griffith.

This is the episode where they wrote an I-don't-get-it line--when Beaver and Gilbert are about to go to the post office to pick up Uncle Billy's special delivery letter, Beaver hopes "they" don't hit us. Huh? Gilbert should have said, Huh? Who would hit us? Beaver, sometimes you don't make any sense!

And later June is pulling her Perry Mason act and grilling Beaver about the thank you note to Uncle Billy. Instead of dealing with his lies, she just goes downstairs and tells Ward. Wimp!

And who opens gifts at breakfast?

Very strange script. June really acted weird going upstairs to check out his thank you notes. I mean who opens presents at breakfast, like you say, gets bawled out for missing lunch, has to write thank you notes the same day and then gives himself a punishment for lying. Cut the kid some slack Jack. The best thing about the episode was the sign, The Gay Life, on the building when Beaver is walking with Gilbert.

Never noticed the sign. Yeah, cut the kid some slack...he should have said, golly, it's my birthday, an' all that's happening is I'm gettin' yelled at.

June telling Beaver to write his thank you notes that very night reminds me of a dear Abby article about a bride sitting at the hotel room desk writing thank you notes on her wedding night.
