Yeah, I still don't buy that. That's inconsistent with the girls' behavior in season 1, and seems invented for new writers' amusement 7 seasons later (you'll note this was writing duo's first FOL episode).

Maybe Roger gradually became more handsome and suave during Seasons 2-4?

He was probably not the most attractive guy, but attractive enough to get Nancy and her not looking desperate but still awkward looking enough for the girls to mock.
