Mom and I were trying to watch Perry Mason when we noticed that METV has no sound and it has been going on since this afternoon and we tried rescanning our TV channels and METV still is in silence. Has anyone witnessed this with their METV channel?

For two weeks now my local MeTV WJLP NJ has had a number of digital hits, my provider is Spectrum of Northern & Southern Manhattan.

Sometime last week during In the heat of the night the sound went out. I tried the other channels and they were all fine, it was just METV !:confused:

MeTV went out on me while the previous episode of The Flintstones was on today! It was the "Love Letters on the Rocks" episode.

This morning I called my METV station to report the problem and they are supposed to call me back tomorrow to let me know if the problem with METV has been fixed. The strange thing about this is that only my living room TV is the one that has the problem with METV but on my bedroom TV METV has sound

If your LR TV is on cable and the bedroom TV is picking up an over-the-air signal, then your cable system is at fault. Or, if they're both on cable, there could be a setting on the cable box on the LR TV that got changed (you can unintentionally change things by pushing the wrong buttons in certain sequences on the remote). I had this happen a year or two ago, and lost sound on certain channels. I had to get the cable company on the line and they walked me through fixing it. In my situation a few channels had no sound, and one I remember had a Spanish soundtrack.

In any case if one TV has sound I doubt it's your affiliate at fault.

MeTV is likely not going to return your call because the problem is with your setup and not the network. They aren't set up for that type of troubleshooting. It is likely your antenna or one of your TV's settings. If the other channels on your tv have sound, the problems is with your antenna. Try moving the antenna in different directions. I have an antenna and I frequently get loss of signal/sound. I even got last week's Raven's game with Spanish Commentators. METV and The Roku don't have anything to do with it. It's either your TV settings or the antenna.

That is good Bestie! Glad you got the sound back on METV !:) I'm in California too, and only had the sound go out once, a week or so ago but ME has been freezing up a lot , not completely where it was unable to watch a show , but freezing up for a minute here and there making it annoying ! No other channel was doing that, so something really was going on weird with METV! :( Glad it's fixed! ;)

It's odd that one TV got sound, but I have 2 cable boxes that make the MeTV picture different depending on the box, so who knows? Probably MeTV contacted the local affiliate. Anyway, glad it's fixed!

Now that my METV station got it's sound restored I seem to think that my living room TV needs a stronger antenna. Because ever since METV got their sound fixed my METV station seems to be choppy. If you watch any show namely Perry Mason and Alfred Hitchcock Presents in the middle of the shows the voices sound choppy and then whenever it happens the TV freezes up and Mom and I have to switch channels back and forth and then it's fine until a commercial break and then it starts again. What causes this problem and would a new antenna help?

I am still having problems with my METV station and it's choppy sound and it's freezing. And Mom and I were trying to watch Perry Mason and The Twilight Zone and during the shows the sound was choppy and froze several times and now that Alfred Hitchcock Presents is on it's even worse. But when Mom watches The Andy Griffith Show Gomer USMC and Green Acres on METV she never has witnessed those shows freezing before. So I guess it's these night shows that METV is having a problem and what I plan to do is call my METV station and find out what causing the choppy sound and freezing

We got new antennas today and I can say that METV has a better picture but the trouble with the sound is still there and this morning when Mom was watching The Flintstones the sound went out and the screen froze up. I seem to think that the problem with METV is not fully fixed yet and Mom and I plan to complain to our METV station to find out more

having same problems in ny/nj area affliate WJLP/Middletown, nj......provider spectrum cable.

WJLP 3.3 is a new local metro diginet, they have one local weekly series, a talking heads political show "Jersey matters" and recently added a silly one story 30 second nj newsbreak during the first break of the 5:30PM Adam-12.

I know WJLP is starting a 24 hour local separate news channel by years end goal. We have News-12 here, plus NY1, a very low quality local news channel seems like a silly waste of money juncture. But will remind me when local cable companies produced their own hyper-local origination news programs such as Channel 10 News produced for over 25 years in southeast bergen county, NJ by companies Vision Cable/Time Warner Cable.

I contacted METV again today because I discovered something that may play a factor in these problems. It seems that METV has some timer in it that is programmed to make a glitch and when I called the METV station I did tell them that I did get a new antenna and they are supposed to call me back tomorrow. The new problem with METV now is that it doesn't seem to come in mainly in the night to midnight. Mom has missed watching episodes of Perry Mason and Alfred Hitchcock Presents and Mannix due to this problem

These retro channels that run the old shows are all no good for a variety of reasons. They edit and time compress shows so they can run more commercials, the picture size is messed with so people don't get a fullscreen picture, it's all garbage. This is why I say thank goodness for DVD's. DVD's aren't always perfect either, sometimes shows are edited, but in comparison to the retro channels DVD's are so much better.

So back in the day we had ghosting and snow with over-the-air TV. Now we have varying problems with compression, digital freezes/jumpy motion, pixilation, lip sync problems. And we have gone from not enough channels to way too many.

It's your antenna and reception. It's not on MetV's end. It is a combination of your antenna and your reception (trees, etc.). It's on your end. They just send out a signal. It is up to you if you can receive it.

Well not in my case! I don't have an antenna, I have cable ! It could have been Spectrums fault yes, not METV ! But I was having issues around the same time Bestie started this thread, I'm pretty sure she has cable too, we are both in Southern California ! Maybe a regional Spectrum problem affecting certain channels ? And we noticed it on METV being we watch that a lot ? ;)

anytime you don't have sound you should check other TVs and maybe reboot cable box.if on cable.

Tonight METV has silence again and I don't know when it started but Mom and I cannot see Perry Mason at all tonight. I did check if there's any trees blocking our antenna reception and our house has few trees so the problem isn't the trees blocking our antenna reception but I seem to think that the problem is on METV's end because this is the second time it's happened and the METV stations should investigate where this problem is coming from

METV is still silent this week and I don't know how long it's gonna last because Mom has missed Perry Mason Mannix and Alfred Hitchcock Presents a lot. I was gonna call my METV station and ask them what is causing the silence but I didn't get around to it today. Just as I mentioned in my previous post I checked to see if any trees were blocking METV's signal and the only trees I have are two in my backyard but the other trees belong to our neighbors and they aren't touching the TV reception at all. METV BETTER fix this problem for us METV fans

The MeTV Network announced their fall schedule that will begin on Labor Day Monday, Sept. 7, 2020. Not many changes are occurring though.

Returning to the lineup after a short hiatus is Gilligan's Island! Gilligan and the castaways will air weekdays at 7am, replacing The Beverly Hillbillies, which will now only air Saturday mornings. The rest of the weekday schedule is exactly the same.

On Saturday late nights, there will be two changes: Kolchak: The Night Stalker at 12am (replacing The Invaders) and The Invaders at 5am (replacing Planet of the Apes, which is off the lineup).

On Sunday nights, The Twilight Zone half-hour episodes will air at 12am and 12:30am instead of the hour-long ones.

The problem I have with MeTV and the other retro channels is they no longer televise shows in full screen format, there are black bars on the screen instead of a full screen picture and it looks awful. Thank goodness for DVD's where the shows are formatted properly in full screen mode. So I mostly watch DVD's now and seldom watch the retro channels. These channels could go out of business and go off the air and I wouldn't miss them at all.

Now since yesterday METV is having problems again and I don't know what is causing it? Mom told me that she couldn't watch The Andy Griffith Show Gomer Pyle USMC Green Acres Perry Mason The Alfred Hitchcock Hour and Mannix due to this problem. I checked my TV to see if METV had problems there and the same thing happened. My mom thinks that the tower got snowed in because I live near mountains and every time a winter storm comes the antenna channels don't come in. I hope METV fixes this problem by tomorrow because Mom wants to see Perry Mason

I watch much more than that. I actually see myself enjoying MeTV better than Antenna TV Cozi TV and Decades. With me, MeTV is my favorite retro channel followed by Decades, Antenna TV, and Cozi TV :(. I mostly only watch Cozi TV for their dramas they have a weak selection of show how long and how many times are you gonna shove Frasier, The Office, The Nanny, and Will & Grace down our throats? :mad: Well, at least the good thing about Cozi TV’s sitcom selections is that one of them is The Munsters.

The issue is with your Local Affilate station all METV Network does send out a satellite signal to all Affialtes then the affilates will rebroadcast the metv network through it air waves and the local affilates can insert Local Commercials in the feed and they can also pre empt metv feed for other programing.

sometime when there a active Tropospheric propagation occurring that will cause tv signal to get block by another station that is miles away that broadcast on the same frequency that can cause the tv signal go out at night and you may also pick up other stations that may come in during that time also.

Once again METV has not been coming in for two days and the problem started on Saturday and I seem to think that this current problem is caused by high winds. Mom and I checked my TV and METV is not coming in on my TV as well. I hope it isn't some kind of glitch that's causing METV to go off the air again this time

If you get it by an antenna, it's most likely your problem. A lot of things can interfere with getting a signal. Airplanes, weather....

I think this might be a problem with your antenna and not Metv.

I get it by an antenna. it usually is okay, it goes down at times. MeTV sends out a signal. You pick it up or you don't. As I said, a lot of things can affect the signal. Weather and planes are a big one for me.

Mom and I turned on METV right now and i'm very happy to say that the sound on METV has now been fixed and this morning I got a message from METV saying that they've been aware of the problem and will try to fix it. I think someone at METV read this post and got the problem fixed for us METV watchers

I'm about ready to call my METV station on Monday because the darn METV is still not on and this is the fourth day that METV isn't on and I don't have a clue to what causes this problem. I even asked my mom about getting a brand new antenna for both my bedroom and the living room and she said no. I think the METV stations are having troubles with their rent and they have to pay a lot of money for airing the station and I know that it's not the antenna that is causing the problems with METV and they SHOULD fix it right away. Mom has missed a lot of Perry Mason because of this problem. METV should stop these crazy problems indeed

TV streaming has decreased my interest in digital TV and havent turned to none of the digital channels in 2 weeks

This morning I had a little trouble with METV when it went off the air but I did not call my METV station directly to report the problem. I called the actual headquarters of METV and when I reported my problems with my METV station the METV headquarters actually listened and by magic it was fixed by tonight. When you have problems with your METV stations the secret is calling METV headquarters and as I told you they are willing to fix anything wrong. I swear Merlin the magician from The Sword In The Stone must work for METV because it was like magic that METV fixed itself tonight

Im glad you were successful because it seems like customer service for anything in 2021 is awful

METV's problems have started again and now it's been going on for three days and the only show that has no problems is Gomer Pyle USMC but when Mom tried to see Perry Mason she can't see it because the sound is choppy and garbled. I was gonna call METV headquarters but didn't get around to it today. Has anyone had troubles with METV this week?

That issue with your local station. and when you said you call metv HQ all they did contact your local station.

I was able to call METV today but I had troubles. First when I called METV headquarters they weren't able to help me and the number I called was their commercials department and so I ended up calling my METV station and reported my problems and they told me that METV isn't the only channel having problems but also Heroes And Icons and Buzzr are having problems as well. Anyway METV is supposed to call me back either tomorrow or Wednesday to let me know that they are aware of the problem and that they will fix it as soon as possible
