I was just notified a hour or so about Jack Sheldons passing. Jack was a big part of the 50's Jazz movement in Los Angeles. Also known as a major talent on many sountracks. He was a talented audacious performer, musician, singer with more talent than he needed. Sheldon played the trumpet, sang, and performed on The Merv Griffin Show. He was Griffin's sidekick for many years. Sheldon was the subject of a documentary, Trying to Get Good. He was 88 years old in November. He had suffered a stroke a few years ago, but continued to work to overcome the difficulties that came from it. He continued to have his annual Birthday Parties at the Catalina Bar and Grill every November. It has hit me deeply and am so sad to see him go. He was a close friend of Pete's and Conte. Jack and Pete went way back and were close buddies as he was Uan Rasey. Jack was there for Pete as well in his last days and after Pete died he even played taps for Pete as he was layed to rest. Jack, love you, you will be missed. Love to his family and his Diane. RIP
