I get Get on my antenna and I record them onto my external hard drive and then use my movie maker to remove the commercials.

Are these episodes "New" to GetTV? Glad to see they have a weekly new time slot......though the "divorce" episodes aren't very good.......original fan since 1971.

Yes, these episodes are brand new to getTV. The episodes airing tomorrow night and the 25th of this month have not been aired since their original broadcasts.

Great thank you, the only thing is that as you know are only about 42 minutes, and the GetTV airings have a odd look from the transfer to digital, its very noticeable when scenes are dissolved into another, and the credits seem to studder. I have all the released boxsets over the years, but they are very edited as well.

Best part of my collection are my over self recorded 40 episodes totally uncut when TV Land premiered them upon their launch. And yes TV Land for the first year didn't air commercials! They filled the time with old "retromercials" and "promos" plus they aired the old CBS "In The News" from the 70's as time filler.

Those sound pretty awesome.

Well Im must say the new episodes (including Johnny Cash) have a much better quality look, I recorded Sonny & Cher Ep 1 on 1/4/20 and it really looked great! No flicker between dissolves or quick camera cuts. Even the credits ran smoothly instead of that jitter as they roll.

I especially enjoyed this episode as it was cameo star packed, and being the first of at the time a huge reunion anticipation, this episode really holds up. It is a shame that i guess with not so good ratings and the novelty wearing off for viewers and sonny and cher themselves, as the "divorce" episodes continue the magic was lost. I will use once they started breaking into the opening song with Laverne comedy bits i consider that moment it seemed everyone was just mailing it in as monologues were cut shorter and seemed they didn't want to sing together anymore.

But episode one, Bravo to GetTV, I have episodes 2 & 3 from TV Land uncut, would be a miracle if GetTV has a slew of new episodes from all versions, would even like a revisit for "Sonny's Comedy Revue" for historical sake.

These Sonny & Cher programs can be interesting sometimes but I stopped recording shows from GetTV because I now receive the channel in that terrible widescreen format with the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. I also now have occasional reception problems with GetTV as the picture will sometimes freeze up/pixelate and pause for a few seconds, I didn't have that problem before.

A few years ago when I still received GetTV in full screen format, I recorded the episodes of the Peter Loves Mary sitcom and those turned out great.

Ah, yes, the credit roll that blurs, or stutters. I read somewhere this becomes a problem when they try to transfer old videotaped shows to HD, and reconvert them to SD (old videotaped shows should never be converted to HD.)--I don't know if this is true. These credit rolls have been a problem with Mama's Family (glad I saved my copies from TBS years ago), Diff'rent Strokes, and Silver Spoons, and probably other videotaped shows.

Just digitizing a show shouldn't screw up the credit rolls and dissolves. I have a DVD recorder which digitizes, and that doesn't happen.

If CBS owns these I wonder if they are cutting out musical content. They sure do on Carol Burnett reruns.

Music was so integral to this show. And they sang I Got You Babe at the end of virtually every episode.

I know that cut a lot off the Johnny Cash Show. I have all the Johnny Cash Shows UNCUT & the (2) that they aired were edited down. The one show that featured Charlie Callas completely removed his comedy sketch.

Regarding Sonny & Cher, Musical segments are not cut, When TV Land ran the series upon its' launch over 20 years ago it was totally uncut as TV Land didn't run standard commercials for the first year. I had to record off satellite dish as it didn't have much carriage across the country but I digress.....

Paul Brownstein is the distributor, the series has had several official dvd releases only in best of form episodes, those are subject to heavy music edits, but when it airs now on GetTV edits are random as only about the standard 40 minutes is aired in the 60 minute slot.

Glad you explained to readers about the digitizing issues, As I am about to start another thread "It's A Living" on Antenna TV is so plagued with frames shuddering upon every cut and transition that is should not even being aired.

The Logo airings on fine, but Antenna TV is a total mess.

Anyone know what happened to the Channel Decades?

I still have it. Though, here in Southern California it moved to a different sub channel. I am looking forward to The Fall Guy bingeathon this weekend.

OK after some excitement this thread seems to have fallen away, as GetTV continues to air "new episodes" in February 2020 though they have been plagued with technical issues on GetTVs part.

The 1/25 episode S1/#11 faded early during every commercial break, then when it returned it faded up back where it faded and then left in 3 seconds of black with the GetTV logo never fading. Just an annoyance.

The 2/1 episode S1/#8 was a total disaster at least in the ny metro airing, all night including during sonny and cher every time they came back from a commercial break and need the bug to change from transparent to red and back, it took the entire screen to black for over 4 seconds! The highlight for me was a new version of "The Way Of Love" which luckily aired not coming out of a commercial break. Each episode runs a little over 40 minutes, but better than nothing!

I have recorded the ones i didn't have as mentioned certain "new" ones to GetTV I have completely unedited from TV Land sign on schedule.

At this rate I may have a complete season 1 of The Sonny & Cher Show which as mentioned was the better season before the 2nd season.
