Yep, it does defy logic since not only Dorothy and Sophia share absolutely no similar physical characteristics, but that Sicilian family divulged that Gina was not their bio daughter. Dorothy was the only other baby born that day, so Dorothy has to be the bio daughter of the Sicilian family.
I also did not like that episode, but I'm glad that Sophia tore up the DNA results at the hospital. That was proof to Dorothy that her "mother" truly loved her.
