Why's this?

Actually the Bewitched theme was different in each of the 8 seasons, some changes were more or less then subtle from season to season.
Bewitched was seen in color in season three for the first time with a completely different opening theme then had ever been seen up to that point.

Why's this?

This has been a bone of contention with big fans of this series. The openings for seasons 2 and 3 had a great arrangement (you can hear it on the closing credits for those seasons) that hasn't been used in decades. Season 6 had no announcer (unless the show was sponsored by Oscar Meyer that season). The announcer didn't appear regularly until season 7 - and it was a different announcer than the one you hear on the DVDs (that was taken from season 8).

Luckily, for us collectors, we have a bunch of episodes with these sponsored openings, but there aren't enough of those episodes out there.
