I couldn't keep a straight face with her (Melissa McCarthy) ever! She was pregnant when we filmed the pilot and they had her in this outfit with these boots that were literally cutting off her circulation.

I asked her, "Did you ever see The Wizard of Oz," and she said, "Yes." I was like, "You know when the house falls on the witch and the feet curl up? That's what this is like, get these off!" She was hysterical and said, "I love you."

We actually lived close to each other then, so I would go to her house and her and her husband Ben (Falcone) would be making these ridiculous movies. One time we all had afros on with polyester suits and roller blades going down Hollywood Boulevard... it was just ridiculous.
