Just curious....what's your favorite segment? Mine was always Patsy Wright...And I must say I really thought it would have been solved by now.

If I had to pick one from each of the "main" categories they would be:

Murder: Diana Robertson/Mike Riemer
Missing: Dale Kerstetter
Wanted: Charles Mule
UFO: Allagash Abductions
Paranormal: Tallman Ghost
Missing Heirs: Tie between Charlie Scheel/Walter Rice/Dan Willans
Amnesia: Kyra Cook
Fraud: Woody Kelly
Legends: Billy the Kid
Lost Loves: James Pearson/Mitchell Shigemoto
Treasure: Lost Dutchman's Mine

Damn. This is seriously really difficult.

With all due respect to the following cases --

Russell and Jean Johnson, Aileen Conway, DB Cooper, Dale Kerstetter, Pam Page, Kurt Sova, Christi Nichols, Perman Gilbert, Micky Jo West, Cindy Anderson, Sammy Wheeler, Aleatha Evertz, Tammi Lepert, Dan Tondevald...

I cannot choose between Stanley Gryziec, Clarence Roberts and Patsy Wright. So I am going to chicken out with a 3 way tie -- and to be honest it was hard NOT to include Russell and Jean Johnson as well -- it's that close.

And to add another curve ball -- if there was one unsolved case that I would want solved I would easily choose the Jon Benet Ramsey case -- but I don't consider that a ~true Unsolved Mysteries case, if that makes any sense.

Oof... This is like trying to pick your favorite child.

So many good choices here. I like how Cars broke it down by category -- that makes it a little easier to pick. (Note that I've used a few of the categories a bit loosely.)

Unexplained Death: Charles Morgan
Missing: Dottie Caylor
UFO: Kecksburg
Legend/Unknown: Crew of the Sarah Joe
Lost Loves/Unknown: Frances Mealbach
Treasure: Victorio Peak (Doc Noss)

Omar the Satanist

Lost Loves: Barney Dewey, Steven Ross, Fritz Vincken, Philip Macri

Missing: Amy Billig, Jeremy Bright

Unexplained Death: Hugh Harlin

The Unexplained: Oakville Blobs, Yeti, Shroud of Turin

Wanted: Jim Burnside, Brad Bishop

Having watched seasons 1 to 6-8 repeatedly, this is a hard one.

Unexplained Death: Charles Morgan/Danny Casolaro/Don Deveraux (Runner Up - Clarence Roberts)

Wanted: Connecticut River Killer (Runner Up - Brad Bishop)
Missing: Dale Kerstetter (Runner Up - Dave Bocks)
Unexplained: Rendlesham Forest Incident
Fraud: Woody Kelly (how did he get off that lake?)
Lost Love: Sister of Frances Murphy (Orphan Train)
Legend: Victorio Peak Treasure

Depends, from a production value and storytelling look, a good ghost story never fails. St James Hotel or John Hardin (although I dont buy that reincarnation angle UM worked in there). Of the actual cases, I dont know but I do know the Casey Nicole is right up there.

I'll play using Car's categories:

Murder: Bobbi Oberholtzer and Annette Schnee
Missing: A.J. Breaux
Wanted: Tom Dixon
UFO: Wytheville UFOs
Paranormal: John Harden
Missing Heirs: Walter "Curly" Green
Amnesia: Kyra Cook
Fraud: Gene Flannes
Legends: Glen and Bessie Hyde/Agatha Christie's lost weekend
Lost Loves: Charles Shelton/Laurence Harding Jr
Treasure: Beale's ciphers

Not sure what category it fits into, but The Wackers is probably the uniquest (is that a word?) segment.

We watched this segment just yesterday and I have to say: yes. There's no murder, no missing person, no fraud, no kidnapping. The assaults on Dorothy can fall under a 'Wanted' banner, but it's definitely the weirdest series of attacks probably ever featured on the show.

Yeah, that segment was cheaper, but will do.

Overall favorite segment: Son of Sam
Unexplained death: Mark Groezinger
Unexplained/Miracle: Spiral Staircase
Treasure: The underground river in Nevada. i know it's not a treasure segment per se.
Lost Loves: Jean and Russell Johnson's "angel"
Legends: Butch Cassidy
Fraud: Ed Barbara
Wanted: Steven Hadley (The Masterminds episode on this is great)
UFO: Kecksburg

Honorable mentions (no particular category): Norman Ladner/Ralph Sigler/Adams Gold/ Victor Simon/Lake Champlain Monster/Operation Pigeon Drop/ Jack Quinn/ Jesse James Hollywood

I always get the Lost Dutchman's Mine segment confused with the Adam's Treasure one. Adam's Treasure is my favorite treasure segment.

The segment doesn't mention it, but besides Adams and Davidson, there were 3 other survivors from the group. The guide (who disappeared from history after leaving the camp before the massacre), a German immigrant, and a man named John Brewer. Brewer left the camp with 5 others for supplies, and on their way back they were ambushed by the Apaches and Brewer was the only survivor who narrowly escaped and walked in the opposite direction of the massacre site on foot. Adams and Davidson went out to find the supply party, but found the 5 bodies, and on their way back to the camp is when they found the other miners murdered. For years Brewer assumed that he was the sole survivor of the massacre and it wasn't until the story gained steam in the 1880's that he learned that Adams and Davidson also survived (the German immigrant is thought to have lived until 1871 after the massacre on the gold the he took from the site, before he was murdered by Indians on his ranch), and he told his story to a friend of his and mentioned that he planned to go back and try to relocate the site. Some people believe he did find it and removed the gold that was buried there, which is why no one has been able to find it to this day.

Ed Barbara was thisclose in my running for favorite Fraud segment. The guy was a cartoon, from those commercials to him using "suck" as slang in that interview.

My favorite segment - the Wheeler Saga. I feel guilty because a man was killed. But the participants were too much.

Best UFO/Missing Time: The military guy who was dropped off at the store waiting for his ride to the base and abducted by Aliens. Years later he found a book on the subject.

Crudest lout - Mel Green - bragged that he lost a lot of weight on his liquid diet. His “brother” motorcycle dude killed his wife Anita and stalked the lady writing a book on the murder,
Missing - Elizabeth Campbell

Lost love type- reunion of Vietnam vets James and Mitchell (James had saved Mitchell life).

Same for a UFO story, you can pull up the location that segment was filmed at (the corner party store) on Google StreetView and it looks basically identical today as it did then.

My top story overall would be the Dexter Stefonek case. Should I ever find myself on I-94 in Montana that rest stop would be a must visit location, so long as there isn't a truck with Arizona plates lingering around in the parking lot.

Roxanne Jeeves segment is well made too

In a show that features horrible crime, this is near the top for me. I used to watch this segment when it was unsolved, naively thinking maybe my previous proximity to the location could be of some help. Now it’s tough to even stomach this segment, but thankfully it has been solved. Just all around very sad.

Indeed. Although I'd still like to know the details of how George Hicks came into Roxann's life and how far in advance this was planned. The brutality of the crime was so extreme. Thankfully he'll never be out on the streets again.

This one has become very entertaining.

He really had the "oh crap, I've carried this too far, I didn't expect to be on Unsolved Mysteries!" look written all over the face.

LOL. When I read the fish guy, my first thought was AJ Breaux, or the man who was thought to be him selling the frozen fish.

Thank you for the correction.

As mentioned by many, this is extremely tough.
DB Cooper immediately jumps to mind, as do Signal Mountain Murders, Roswell and Rhonda Hinson and not necessarily in that order. So many segments in the early seasons were so well done in every facet.

I interpret this to mean, "which cases would you like to see solved?"

My top three cases that I'd love to know the truth about are:

- Dale Kerstetter
- The Inslaw Conspiracy
- Mary Morris
