Penny is manipulative, as is Alma's mother. Wally was trying to find a way to escape from her clutches, so we can eliminate her. He let Penny have it on the phone, so she's out. Myra reminds him of Mary Ellen, and her only crime is wanting an orchid.

Ginny's OK but he was really uncomfortable around her, and I'll say he might not ask her out.

Gail is nice, all she needs to do is wear flats.

Kathy is nice also, but he can't get past having to deal with her father.

So it's down to Jill, Myra, Gail, and Kitty.

With all the letters he seemed to have a real thing for Kitty, so I'll pick her. Any other ideas?

I pick Jill he felt really comfortable talking to her and she was very nice. Kitty wasn’t attractive enough for Wally and as you say he would always have to make sure Gail wore flats. I agree about the others. Myra was too self absorbed and frivolous.

Myra reminding Wally of Mary Ellen is of course a joke, only because they're the same actress. If I recall correctly while she and Wally were on the phone she was preening, and she put him thru an awful lot just so she could have an orchid.

Wasn't Kitty staying in Mayfield with her grandparents? So she didn't live in town--this would have been a tough dating situation for Wally since he didn't drive.

Like the part about Jill always in the tub. Tiny Tim took many showers daily. LOL

I’m surprised he totally forgot about Margie Manners. She might have gone to Union High but was still in Mayfield as she and Wally saw each other out of the house. Wally had an uncanny way of going flaky over a girl and then never seeing them again. I know it’s just a script. Margie would have been entertaining as she can start washing the floor with a sponge mop and voile it turns into a rag mop. The water scene with Wally drinking all that water was so unnecessary. Just have Wally go into the kitchen sit at the table and stare at Margie with cow eyes.

June was like a lady of leisure so she could doll up and be part of the furniture. Love how Wally is an A student and just because he gets a C- on a test the principal calls?? Let’s put this one in the barrel with Beaver the Bunny, Chuckie’s Shoes and Beaver’s Boring Buddy.

Yep. But like I said said in another thread, no episode of LITB is unviewable. Although I will admit I switched over and watched an equally bad Andy Griffith episode. This was the one where Andy had to eat 3 spaghetti dinners because Goober screwed up 2 phone messages.

LOL. I needed that. I’ve been watching a lot of Andy episodes in Season 7 and 8. Andy really has lost his spirit and is so grumpy. I actually feel more embarrassed for Goober than Howard. Poor Goober, as someone said Goober’s and Gomer’s parents had to be related. That spaghetti episode is one of the worst and hate how Helen got so jealous all the time and glares at him. I would’ve said “oh spaghetti no thanks.”

They actually gave George Lindsay his own pilot and it was awful.

Howard going to that remote island has to be one of the stupidest episodes they made. Who doesn't watch a travelogue and ups and moves a few days later, sight unseen?

And gets his job back as town clerk like no one took over. I have to laugh when Howard wears all those boating clothes with the price tags still on. Love seeing Harry Dean Stanton as the bored shop keeper. “Wanna buy a ship in a bottle?” He should have just taken a trip before he decided to pack it in but then there’d be no plot and what a plot.
