Great news: Lisa W's series on MeTV, Collector's Call, is getting a second season starting Sunday, Jan. 12th. Per the announcement, the show "will also feature a surprise The Facts of Life reunion when a very special guest joins Whelchel to view Charlotte Rae's own remarkable collection, which contains exclusive pieces from the show's set. EXCLUSIVE PIECES FROM THE SET
I want to know who this very special guest is! It's too bad I'll probably never be able to see it though, because my MeTV affiliates don't show Collector's Call.

Sounds very cool!
Imagine the possibilities, guys!
Lisa: As we all know, Charlotte Rae was an avid collector of Facts of Life set decor. Special guest Kim Fields, my co-star on The Facts of Life, is going to guide us through Charlotte's amazing collection of priceless memorabilia from the set of the show.
Kim: That's right, Lisa. Now, many people knew Charlotte collected set decorations. But what many people didn't know is that Charlotte only collected one type of item during her years on The Facts of Life... an item befitting Charlotte's stature as a star known around the globe.
Kim: This globe was one of Charlotte's favorites. It was seen on top pf the grandfather clock during the first four episodes of the show. Note the faux antiquing on this item.
[Lisa nods.]
Kim: Compare that to this replacement globe, also in Charlotte's collection, seen in later first-season episodes.
Lisa: Clearly, very different globes. Each one unique in its own way. Charlotte loved them all. No judgement.
Kim: Indeed. Now, here's an interesting item: the globe Felice Schachter attempted to strangle during the second-season episode "Gossip". If you look closely, you can still see the indentations caused by her fingers gripping that globe very tightly.
Lisa: My goodness! Felice sure had strong grip strength!
Kim: Don't remind me! Now over here, in the west wing of the collection, we can see the globes used in the dorm rooms: all eighteen of them...

Some more information about this from the blog:
The MeTV Network will welcome one of television's most beloved families to its daytime lineup this January. The Waltons will air weekdays, premiering on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at 12PM | 11C. Additionally, two classic cop dramas will join the weekday schedule when Adam-12 and Dragnet report for duty starting New Year's Day, with Adam-12 weekdays at 5:00pm & 5:30pm and Dragnet in the mornings at 5:30am & 6am. Other weekday changes are I Love Lucy at 6:30am and In the Heat of the Night now at 11am. That's not all! Sunday night has a new look, beginning with the early 90-minute episodes of Columbo (1971–1978) at 8PM | 7C. That leads into an all-new season of Collector's Call at 9:30PM | 8:30C (premiering January 12). Host Lisa Whelchel (The Facts of Life) returns to uncover even more stunning collections — and some surprising guest stars from The Brady Bunch, the Winter Olympics and beyond! Then, MeTV is pairing up The Flintstones with The Honeymooners — the sitcom that inspired the cartoon — at 10PM & 10:30PM. You can still catch The Flintstones weekdays 6-7P and Sundays 10A-12N.
RetroGuy2000 12-21-2019, 07:38 PM Huh. Maybe a reunion between Eve Plumb and Lisa Whelchel? They did play half-sisters in FOL, after all. Eve finally got to play the oldest sister, for once. ;)

Yeah, they could maybe even mention the episode, look back on the making of the episode for a few minutes, and share some behind-the-scenes information.
Then they could go into Eve's HUGE collection of Brady Bunch memorabilia. She's got a garage full of tubs, all filled with Brady Bunch stuff, as seen on the Brady house renovation show.

So there's going to be a repeat of The Wizard Of Oz episode on Sunday which will be airing on our affiliates at 9:30 PM.
The new episode (which is premiering on January 12) will be called Meet Mancow.
And the next episode will be airing on January 19, and it's called Meet George.

I agree.
That would be nice, to visit Charlotte's home, though that would stray from the usual premise of the show.

Just watched this. Thanks for the link, '80s.
I don't really understand what Lisa was complaining about. As the host, she's not really the "star": she's there to bring out the details of the guest's collection, and help us understand it better. We didn't really even see Barry rudely interrupting her.

I'm assuming more of Barry "taking Lisa's show" ended up on the cutting room floor, since she actually said that remark to the camera.
I felt bad for the poor appraiser. Barry stole his thunder and didn't get him a chance to make his offer!

Lisa will be taking a look at Charlotte Rae's personal collection---along with a surprise guest star somehow related to "The Facts of Life"! :woohoo:
80s Dude 01-31-2020, 01:08 PM I wonder if Charlotte asked permission to take these items or did she pilfer a whole bunch of items every time they were going to completely change the main set? Did she have any items any of the lost girls left behind? (we do know there is one YouTube video where some girl got Molly's track uniform).
Does she have any Eastlake banners before the name change to Eastland.
Did she take the globe that Felice used to threaten Tootie and was kept by the stairs in the 1st season?

Hmm, interesting question how she acquired them. Who knows? But certainly if you're going to let anyone get away with taking any items from the show, it would be Charlotte.

We do? There is? I've only seen a photo of the uniform.
Thanks, '80s. I believe that was mentioned earlier, but just wanted to check that it hadn't changed. Will be interesting to see how/if they incorporate any of the show's "trade" element into it, as it is, after all, "Collector's Call." :)

Yeah, that's just how the show works. You see HUNDREDS of items in these people's collections, and they focus on, like, 7 at the most. That really is a shame (was hoping they'd make the show an hour for season 2).
I didn't care about seeing how much her items were worth. Frankly I was thrilled to hear all the "behind-the-scenes" stories and info that we learned. :)

I remember in the 80s that I read about tensions between Charlotte and Geri Jewell on the set in the tabloids. They said Geri was difficult to work with basically. That would explain what Geri said at the end of the Collector's Call episode last night.

There's definitely a documentary, I think the one from 2006, in which Charlotte praises Geri. Then Geri says "First she [Charlotte] would accept me, then she would reject me." Then Charlotte says something to the effect of, "If Geri thinks that, it's her problem," rejecting what Geri says.
It definitely did come full circle, with them reuniting happily at the 2008(?) TV Land Awards.
I don't believe Charlotte truly rejected Geri, but she might have disapproved of the things Geri did outside of the show, including some affairs with women who weren't very discreet. Geri also talks candidly about this, in her book. Geri says Charlotte's agent(?) was also very unkind to her. It's definitely worth a read just for the Charlotte-Geri-Lisa interactions.

80s Dude 03-16-2020, 01:22 PM I saw the lego set for the FOL cafeteria scene last night.
80s Dude 03-16-2020, 01:23 PM I wonder how much would Molly's script of the New Girl Part 2 would be worth?

Dang it, another spoiler (several of those around this board lately). I forgot I haven't watched last night's yet.

If this was a spoiler, it's by accident. I haven't seen any more of the new documentary than what Retroguy sent up. I was talking about the copy of the script that is on this website and Retro said it appeared to be Molly's.

No, I quoted your Lego post.
80s Dude 03-16-2020, 11:21 PM The only known interaction between any lost girl and Geri is this photo with Sue Ann where Sue Ann cropped out Mr. Bradley.

Both Julie Pie and Geri attended Charlotte's memorial (https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/facts-life-co-stars-kim-fields-mindy-cohn-reunite-charlotte-raes-funeral-175452039.html) at Hillside Memorial Park in Los Angeles, in August 2018. Although there were no photos of Geri, she was there. It was a nice mini-reunion, with Mindy, Kim, Julie, Geri, Mack, and John Bowab there.

Nice!
I wish they had done the floor in the right color, and I wish the surrounding rooms (kitchen, lounge, entryway and veranda) would have been included, but it's cute!
'80sSitcoms 04-05-2020, 11:25 PM Oh I didn't know someone shared the LEGO set here, lol.

But that's not realistic. That's very fan-intense---something like some of us here would do, lol. No casual fan would go to that extreme.
Tonight in the Elton John episode Lisa said she was a goody-two-shoes as a kid (and they highlighted her in a cast photo of "The Mickey Mouse Club" while she was saying it, lol) and she divulged that Julian Lennon once dedicated a song to her in concert.
Coming up Sunday, January 11, 2026 at 6:30P | 5:30C on MeTV: "After the beloved actress Charlotte Rae passed away in 2018, her son, Larry Strauss, inherited her personal collection of memorabilia – a collection that chronicles Charlotte’s illustrious career in showbiz. Now, Larry and our host, Lisa Whelchel, who was Charlotte’s longtime friend and colleague, want to share these incredible treasures with the world.
The collection includes the master recording of Charlotte’s 1955 solo album, Songs I Taught My Mother, as well as many valuable television props, like a wardrobe hat from Sesame Street and two amazing set props from The Facts of Life. Joining Larry on this special episode of Collector’s Call is his daughter, Carly, and we’ve brought in archivist and pop culture historian Rob Klein to put an estimated value on the collection. Lisa also has something very special to share with Larry; plus legendary comedian (and fellow Facts of Life star) Geri Jewell stops by to chat, and to shock us with her own remarkable treasure."
