Unsolved Mysteries is/was/always will be my show. I spent so much of my childhood watching it over and over again on Lifetime. I love that it's on Pluto TV and Youtube and it's really wild to see so many cases that I watched go unsolved for years (decades) finally see resolution.

It was also a show that scared the living daylights out of me. I would often go to sleep scared stiff that night but I was always back the next time it was on. The Patsy Wright case was one in particular - that shot of the killer mixing the poison into her cold medicine was maybe the scariest thing I remember from my childhood.

A few things that stick out to me from watching the show over the years:

-A LOT of people bought into amnesia being a viable reason for people to go missing in the late 80s and early 90s.

-Too many cases where someone has gone missing and then they bring 'witnesses' on the show claiming to see them all over the country -- giving the loved ones hope over the years -- only for us to find out that the person was abducted and murdered the day they went missing. Sad.

-Child services was HORRIBLE in the 30s/40s/50s. Separating families, taking brothers and sisters away from each other and then deliberately making it impossible to find each other again. Also sad.

Well, I am glad to find the place and I look forward to talking about the show!

Hi Ghosthouse (I love that name) , welcome!

I am a regular here on Sitcoms Online but not one of the regulars on the Unsolved mystery threads! Not because I don't enjoy Unsolved mysteries, quite the opposite! I LOVE this show and always used to watch it first run and on Lifetime ! I like any type of true mysteries, crime dramas , ghost stories ! The reason I don't post much (I have posted a little bit) on UM threads is the regular posters are SO GOOD, they REALLY know their stuff when it comes to this show, I wouldn't be able to keep up!! But I am fascinated and enjoy reading their posts and learning new updates and such about cases ! ;)

Again , welcome to the forum! :)

Welcome to the board.

I think that people have become more skeptical since the UM heyday, which in a way is a good thing. Maybe it was because I was younger and didn't have that "real world" experience yet, but I always believed the amnesia cases. Now that I'm older, I think there might have been 1 or 2 that were legitimate, but the others were just people trying to get away from their old lives.

Sorry it's not -- it's a little bit of my name mixed with something spooky. Love your avatar btw! :)

Welcome, ghosthouse! Nice to have you here.

This forum is a bit like being with your relatives for Thanksgiving. There are a few weird conspiracy theories, lots of opinions, every once in a while someone goes off the rails, but for the most part everyone is really cool and fun to be with.

We have a fun time talking about UM even all these years later. I look forward to hearing more of your thoughts on the cases!
