Wally indicates that he and Eddie are the only ones from their class chosen for the Crusaders. Later when Wally tries to change parts with someone he says he tried to talk up his part to Lumpy and Tooey but it didn’t work. I thought he and Eddie were the only Sophomores in the play.

Ward gave Wally some pointers on making the part look good, via the fox and bear (???)/quicksand story. Then Eddie comes up to the front step and W&B give him the sales pitch. Next thing you know, that picture of modesty, Duke (W: Is Mayfield going to have a good team next year? D: I don't think so, Mr. Cleaver. I'm graduating.) gets Wally to switch with Eddie. I must have missed the dialog where Wally says he tried to sell the part to Lumpy and Tooey. Maybe he told Ward that before the story.

Wally tells Beaver sitting out front that he tried the strategy that Ward mentioned on Lumpy and Tooey at school but it didn’t work. Then Eddie shows up.
